‘The note, I wonder what it says.’ Thought Aaron as he removed his Busby™.

He slowly sat up and walked over to where he had left his backpack to get the note.

‘Well here goes nothing, might as well open it’

Carefully removing the heart shaped sticker he managed to open the letter

To: Aaron

From: Hime

Since the first day you transferred to this school, I've had my eye on you. I couldn't help, but fall in love. You are amazing. It’s like every time I see you I want to run towards you and hug you and tell you how much I love you. I know we may not know each other very well, but I love you Aaron. I really love you. “This is too good to be true!” He said blinking his eyes. Looking at the note again, he froze.

Hi future (slave)Comrade. I heard you were a solo player so I’ve decided to (force)invite you to an in-game guild for solo players. You will only be required to attend special meetings once a month. Also, you will have to farm a special mask that cannot be removed by other players even after your death. Would you like to join us?

“GG” He said silently as he grinned

‘She trolled me good.’ He thought smiling

‘ I should’ve just stayed in the damn game. Now I have to log back in.’

“Welcome to Exodus Online, Mazoku.”

“World Wide launch Will commence in 10 seconds.”

A red light suddenly engulfed everything. Soon, his surroundings changed. He found himself in the middle of a city. The sky was slightly orange as the sun was setting. The wind was blowing to the north. He was in the city of Odrosol.

In front of him was a wide, circular, arena building. Lining the walls of the interior was every weapon imaginable. Short swords, claymores, Long swords, rapiers, battle axes, staves, wands, whips, shields, halberds, spears, chakrams, kukris, machetes, blow-darts, senbon, shuriken, etc. The list goes on.

A smile suddenly appeared on Mazoku’s face. He was eyeing a rack lined with different katanas.

‘Just what I was looking for.’

He grabbed two katanas and held them out firmly, one in each hand. Normally, this would be hard to do in real life, but as he had 15 points in strength at character creation, he could handle both with ease.

“What a scrub. Look at him; thinking he’s a badass trying to use two swords. Ha, dude lets go watch him get facerolled.”

The other players were ridiculing Mazoku, as he picked his swords and was practicing swinging them. Some even went so far as to try and get him to duel them, but Mazoku just ignored them.

Soon players started to wonder why the doors to the coliseum were not opening.

DING!

Quest Has Been Accepted.

“Quest log.” Mazoku said nervously

The Right to Live

Description: The battle is about to start now. All players will be tasked with defeating the incoming mobs. Rewards will be given based on individual performance.

Experience will be awarded based on damage to each mob.

Reward: City of Odrosol becomes available to players of your region.

“What the hell! This is BS! They didn't say anything about this in the game guide.” The players were raging.

‘Well, looks like I get a chance to test out my new katanas.’

After a few minutes, a bright light filled the arena. The monsters that spawned were rabbits.

‘Rabbits? Seriously?’ Mazoku was surprised but still remained suspicious.

“Dude, I can’t believe you were scared. I got this man, stand back.”

A player wearing mage robes with a staff in hand walked up to the rabbits and hit one in the head. The arena was silent, waiting to see what would happen next. The small rabbit let out a squeal as it fled. Immediately the player in the mage robes let out a scream as he was engulfed by rabbits and was clawed to death.

“D...d...dude what the hell is this, I'm out of here.” Players were running around, trying to find an exit. Some even tried to log out.

“What the fu**. If I logout I can’t log in for a week in-game time “

Players who log out during the arena battle phase will face a log-in ban lasting 2 days and 6 hours

Players began to fight, and be devoured one by one. Some even took the log-in ban and just left.

Even so Mazoku continued to watch the battle unfold, and while watching one particular player caught his eye.

A guy was running around slaughtering rabbits, but the weird thing was that he was yelling “GG, GG” after each kill.

After a few more moment Mazoku slowly unsheathed his swords.

“The heavens tremble before my feet. The sky darkens upon my arrival. I call upon the power of the ancients.”

His swords hummed and gave off a dark black light. Soon the entire stadium’s attention was focused on him.

“Sweet dude, how did he do that?"

"Isn't that the beginner spell that has different effects depending on how you use it?"

"You can use that on weapons?”

Mazoku ignored the stares and charged towards the rabbits that conveniently jumped towards him. With a swift downward stroke he cut through the first rabbit. Immediately he brought his sword back up. Pivoting, he cut through two more rabbits before bringing both swords down on two rabbits in front of him. They were cut straight down the middle.

You have leveled up. You gain 5 Attribute Points. You are now level 2

‘This is easier than I thought it would be.’ Said Mazoku as he continued to slaughter the rabbits. He ignored the constant stream of messages.

Soon other players started to deal with the rabbits also. And after a while the last one was finally killed. The arena sounded with cheers of joy. Everyone was celebrating, everyone except for Mazoku; who was quickly distributing his stat points. He was now level 5.

‘Why hasn’t the quest updated to completed?’

The ground began to rumble, and a bright blue light blinded everyone. The arena was filled with angry growls. Wolves that seemed to not have eaten in weeks lined the walls. Those who were alone were already being devoured.

Mazoku stood up to get ready when suddenly something tapped his back. He spun around, katanas in hand, ready to cut whatever it was, but was greeted with a familiar phrase.

“GG dude. I shit you not man, we are fucked.... Lets party up bro. We’ll last longer that way. Besides, you’re the only one who actually seems to know what they are doing.”

‘....’

Barkness has sent you a party invitation.

“I play solo bro, sorry.” said Mazoku without even looking up from his stats panel.

“GG” Said Barkness with a huge smile on his face

Sighing Mazoku stood, unsheathing his katanas yet again. He faced the wolves and reactivated his spell. Targeting a wolf in front of him he swung his sword down like a guillotine.

“OH BABY!” Yelled Barkness as his club made contact with the wolf’s face, annihilating it before Mazoku’s sword could even reach it.

‘Why did I party with this dude, dammit!’ thought Mazoku with an annoyed look.

He spun around quickly and walked towards a pack of 3 wolves staring at them with a crazed look in his eyes. Immediately he sheathed one of his katanas, and got into a Jodan stance.

With a furious look in his eyes, he stood motionless. Blood from the rabbits flowed down his katana , sweat filled his face, and his breathing became steadier.

He was a silent killer striking down his enemies one after another, and the only thing that could be heard was the slight burst of air expelled at each strike.

Mazoku exhaled closing his eyes.

‘Who knew the kendo lesson mom made me get would actually come in handy’

When he opened his eyes he in front of him was a big wolf that seemed to be bigger than the others.

‘This must be the alpha male. This ought to be fun.’

The wolf growled than charged. Predicting this Mazoku brought his sword down unto the head of the wolf, but it dodged it.

‘What the hell, how can it dodge my sword.’

After dodging the strike successfully the wolf continued and dug it’s teeth into moazku’s ribs.

Health has been reduced by 60.

‘Holy shit this is way faster than the others, and lot stronger too.’

The wolf growled as it faced off with Mazoku.

He ran towards the wolf attempting to cut it again.

Health has been reduced by 60.

Mozoku had only been hit twice, but he had already lost half of his life. The wolf was still at full hp.

‘Calm down...... Breath..... Straighten your stance.’

As Mazoku calmed himself and focused on the battle the wolves movements became clearer.

‘It should dodge my sword and attack from my right side.’

tssss( exhailing as he slices)

Mazoku narrowly managed to parry the attack, but he still took some damage.

Health has been reduced by 30

‘One more time I almost have it...It will go under my sword and go for my stomach’

He made it look as if he was going to slash downwards again, but changed his grip, and rotated his body at the last second allowing him to cut upwards into the wolf's throat.

As soon as his sword connected with the alphas wolves that were in the vicinity began to target him also.

‘Well who knew i would end up dying on my first day ingame.’

“Ha!” Yelled Mazoku as he charged into the wolves that now surrounded the alpha.

‘ If i go down might as well do it like a boss.’

He cut one wolf’s back leg he then jumped forward rolling, and spun his body around quickly cutting it’s throat. As another approached he stabbed his katana into it’s chest and unsheathed his other.

“Gah!” A wolf had bitten into his leg.

Health has been reduced by 20

Mazoku only had 40 hp left, and he was bleeding out due to all the wounds he had.

“OH BABY!!!!!!!!” Yelled Barkness as his mace pummeled the wolf that had just bit Mazoku.

“Goddess of life grant me thy power, fill the void that has been opened. Heal!” A green light shot from his hand and flew towards Mazoku.

120 hp has been restored.

Mazoku shook his leg that was now void of pain. “Thanks man I almost died there...”

Silently Barkness stared at Mazoku, and charged towards him. With a deathly serious look in his eyes he lifted his mace. Frantically readying himself Mazoku got into a defensive stance.

“Oh Baby!!!!” Barkness’ mace went straight towards Mazoku’s neck, but it didn't hit him.

There was a loud thud, and the alpha male that Mazoku had been fighting was thrown to the side from the force of Barkness’ hit.

‘..........’

Barkness was trying his hardest not to laugh, but he couldn’t hold it back any longer.

“Hahahaha you looked so scared bro! Don’t you remember player killing isn't allowed for the first month ?”

‘ I swear I’m going to destroy this bastard once player killing is allowed.’

“Murderous Aura” Mazoku yelled in anger.

‘10 mana a sec, That should give me 27 seconds worth. ‘

“Hahahahahahaha” Mazoku laughed in a sinister voice.

“Thats 22 seconds to many to deal with you.” He said turning towards the alpha male.

He calmed himself regulating his breathing, and lowered his katana into a chudan stance.

‘..........’

The battle began.

The wolf charged towards him with bloodshot eyes full of anger. It was set on sinking it’s teeth into mazoku.

Mazoku closed his eyes and remained still. People in the arena started to notice, and were risking there lives trying to sneak a peak at the battle that was unfolding. An enormous wolf was charging toward a guy with his eyes closed.

‘Exhale.......Inhale...... Wait for it. Don’t rush yourself.’

The wolf as if it had seen the still mazoku as a prey that was admitting defeat picked up it’s pace and charged forward. Every step it took sent a shock into the hearts of the spectators. It was only a matter of time before it was nearly in front of mazoku.

Mazoku was dead still. So silent he almost seemed to not be breathing when the wolf was mere steps away from him, but suddenly he opened his eyes. Red deep eyes he looked even more bloodthirsty than the wolf staring at him. It seemed like once he made contact with the wolf it tried to stop but it was already too late. Mazoku had reversed his grip on his katana, and spun his body slicing upwards beheading the wolf.

Silence filled the arena.

OH BABY!!!!!!!!!! GG BRO!!!!!!!!!!! Barkness ended the silence yelling as he started to kill more wolves. The other players will to fight was strengthened by the fight between mazoku and the alpha. However mazoku wasn’t concerned about that.

‘22 seconds left’ A huge smile crept across his face as he picked up his other katana, and commenced to slaughter more wolves.

“Holy shit man that dude looks crazy”

“Yeah bro thank God He’s on our team”

“Let’s make a guild and recruit him later.”

The players in the stadium were excited they finished the wolves off in no time and were soon resting. All the while Mazoku was starting at something.

‘First drop of the game, and it’s not half bad. Too bad I need to be level 10 though’

After observing the ring Mazoku checked his level to distribute his stat points. He was now level 9.

‘One more level then i’ll be able to get some actual abilities, and finally pick my class’

Slowly he stood using a wolf pelt he had picked up he wiped the blood of his katanas, but did not sheathe them. Everyone was staring at him wondering why he was still acting like he was going to fight.

‘Seriously it’s never this simple man why do they think it’s over’ Mazoku thought as he stared at people sitting around talking as if the doors were magically going to open, and the quest would be over.

This time a golden light filled the stadium, but what Aaron expected was maybe bears or some centaurs... What appeared were lions. Roaring like they were mad 50 male lions appeared in front of the remaining players.

Everyone immediately stared at Mazoku like they were waiting for the commands of a commander. He signaled for barkness to come, and told him to get those with shields in front of everyone, and to put the archers, and mages at the back.

‘ This won’t work without teamwork, but i got a bunch of damn scrubs’

“Block them! Block them!”

“Dude wtf are you doing shoot!”

“Heal me! Heal me!”

It was an absolute disaster mazoku had killed a few lions himself, but the other players were so unorganized it was unreal. Those who started out learning a healing spell were using heavy heals even on people with only a little damage. The mages were using the strongest spells thinking that was the best way to do damage. The archers were hitting their allies. Even the heavy armoured players were having trouble keeping the lions at bay.

Mazoku couldn't stand it anymore. Even if he was a solo player he couldn't just sit back and watch them fail, because in the end it would affect him also.

“ Healers only use big heals on those with extremely low hp. Mages focus your small spells on one target. Archers GET YOU HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASSES AND SHOOT THE ENEMY!”

Soon the battle was becoming more organized the tides had been turned. The lions were slowly being defeated one by one. Of course during all this mazoku wasn’t sitting back twiddling his thumbs. He was isolating lions one at a time killing them himself. The battle soon ended, and cheers were spread out through the arena even Mazoku decided to relax.

“.................”

Eventually a black light filled the arena.

Shields, staves, daggers, swords almost every person in the arena gave up throwing their weapons on the ground accepting death.

“Fuck this dude I quit.”

“Yeah man this totally killed the moment”

“ Can’t believe I wasted my time with this BS.”

Even mazoku just sat down indian style with his swords in his lap, and was waiting to die.

‘ This seriously is BS’

Flying in the sky was something dark black, ferocious. It was exuding a tremendous murderous aura. A black dragon.

With it’s wings spread, it roared flooding the entire arena with it’s voice. It flew in circles as if taunting it’s prey. No one even bothered to fight back. They were all patiently waiting to die, return the game and maybe rage on some forums for a bit.

The dragon soon stopped directly above the arena. A loud inhaling sound was heard the dragons stomach bulged it was getting ready to wipe everyone out in one fell swoop. Fire consumed everything nothing was left where the fire went nothing survived even the weapons left on the racks dissolved. It was the end everyone died.

Mazokus was waiting in the dark he figured that he was being logged out, and was furious.

Suddenly, he heard merchants, and vendors. He opened his eyes, and was in the middle of a city alongside all the other players who had been in the arena battle. Even those who had died were there.

“Those damn trolls!”

Ding!

Quest Completed

Quest Rewards: 1000 xp, 5 health potions, 5 mana potions. For being the top contributors in the fight you receive 2x Experience for 2 weeks,and 25% chance of rare loot drop.

‘ I didn't lose anything, and my character history said i still haven't died. Wow I guess they really did troll us with a dragon.’

"Now for my class" Said mazoku as he hurriedly opened his stat's window to distribute his stat points and check his level.
