It's today.
After a month's wait, the first VR game Exodus is available for me to play
Ah yes, I did have to get in debt in order to be able to play it, but let's not talk about that. I mean, after reading so many stories in the past about the adventures of hardworking people playing VR games and getting all the girls and all the riches, it's amazing that I can actually play one now.
It's the year 2025, in the years back, smart people got together and finally decided to dedicate all of their time to develop a Virtual Reality
Took them long enough
All the wait has been killing me
I am, after all, an impatient man
It was made so that an hour in the real world is 5 in the virtual world. Not bad.
Now that the game is available to play, I feel anxious to start
I think I prepared enough
I hope I prepared enough.
It's now 11:30 am, Sunday, the month is March
30 minutes before the startup of the game
"Hey...hey!"
*smack*
"Didn't I tell you to clean up the house?! Get on it, I got friends coming over"
Ah my head hurts. I did just get smacked after all. I was so excited about the game, I forgot to do what my dad told me. Oh well, 30 mins left, let's get it done.
It's now 12:30, cleaning up the whole house took too long. I missed the start of the game. Damn.
Its ok, I couldn't have missed out anything major in just 30 minutes
I put my head gear on
The world dissolves around me.
I stand floating in a void when a bright light speaks to me
"Do you wish to change your appearance?"
Hmm. "No"
I want to look like myself if I achieve anything in the game
"Please set your name"
Hmm. I'm bad with names. "Raiden"
"Choose Your Race"
Hundreds of races appear, I originally thought of picking human, but now that I look around I think I'll change.
Hmm. "Elf"
"The race has been set, do you wish to proceed to the tutorial?"
Tutorial? Nah, I think I got it. "No."
"Enjoy Exodus and Good Luck!"
I appear in the middle of a town full of people scurrying here and there. The village looks like a normal medieval town in the stories in the past.
Ok, let’s see what I can do with the two weeks that I have in the village, as I can’t leave.
Of course, first thing to do is to go to the Training Hall and raise my stats, I know the drill.
This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.
I look around for almost ten minutes until I see the building labeled training hall. It reeks of sweat. I grab a wooden sword and start beating the inanimate object in front of me.
I had to stop an hour later.
Damn.
That shit is hard.
How the hell can people do this for more than 30 minutes? My arms hurt and my palms are close to bleeding.
I haven't touched a sword before that might be why this hurts so much.
I didn't get any additional stats. Damn. I'm tired
"Status!"

Damn. It hurts to look at those stats.
Maybe I can’t be a fighter, I get tired too quickly.
Ah what are the other players doing?
I get to the middle of the town again and look around.
I see players getting small quests from NPCs
I see others buying items at the shops
Wait. What?
Everyone got 2 silvers along with few breads to survive the first few days
How could these people already be buying stuff from such an exclusive shop?
I creep closer to see
The NPC selling items looks happy
Ah it seems the players bought high grade low level armor from him
Armor that probably costs a hundred silvers. Damn.
I forgot you could convert real life money to gold in this game.
Damn. That’s unfair. Won't those with a substantial amount of money advance faster?
Damn. Ah I can’t just sit here and complain all day. I'm sure I can catch up if I work hard.
Yeah that's it, hard work, I'll have to work hard from now on if I want to keep up with everybody else
Let's see. I should start getting some small quests from an NPC to make some money so I don’t starve.
I won’t get anything if I just stand here
I know what most people neglect in this world
There's no such thing as luck.
Only progress made from hard work
Let’s see if I can work hard, hard enough to surpass everyone else!
Ha Ha, that goal is too big. Maybe just work harder and be better than a few other people.
Yes. That’s it. After all, I can't be greedy.
Okay. Let's Go.
