“It's about time you're awake. I’m starting to worry about the town, more so for you though. Are you able to move?” Zee asked Jake as Jake stirs to wake up from the sound of thunder above.
“I think so… I’m not as soar as I was earlier. That sleep by the river side earlier helped out much from my daily training.” Jake said while yawning and looking up to the darkened skies through the trees… It didn’t feel right to Jake so he shot up!
“Whoa! Calm down, there ranger… you just passed out from a cut wound after that goblin fight. You gotta take it easy there, I may have healed it and disinfected it but, you really need to rest it out a bit more.” Zee said while trying to hold the brute down.
“Okay, I will relax a bit for now, how long was I out by the way?” Jake asked.
“I’d say a good half hour or so.” Zee replied.
“A half hour?! Have any more of those strange goblins showed up?!” Jake asked in surprised.
“Not over here at least, it seemed that a couple of them went into town…” Zee replied hesitantly. Knowing that Jake wouldn’t accept the goblins to walk into town like that, Zee tried to hold him down again with reasoning.
“Jake, for now you need to rest, let the guardsmen deal with the goblins. Have faith in them please…” Zee pleaded but Jake still stood up, putting on his shirt and jacket.
“Zee, you know I can’t turn a blind eye to those goblins running amok in town. Not since I fought that one head on like that. They’re abnormal… I’m worried if our guardsmen can even handle them the way they are now. Still, it is our duty for us to defend the town. Foreign and domestic threats. Though in this case, I suppose it’s counting as both?” Jake pondered as he got sidetracked from his monologue.
Zee let out a deep sigh, “I really can’t argue with you in this one too. You have always been the stubborn one. But the good hearted type of stubborn. That is the trait of yours that I admire the most. Very well, whatever suicidal choice you take, I got your six o clock partner. So let’s ride out in that sunset as the town’s best duo it has ever seen!” Zee said after tilting his hat with his left hand.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
“Doesn’t the sun set in the west, and we’re heading east?” Jake said while crossing his arms and cocking his head.
“It’s a figure of speech, hinting that this evening isn’t over yet and has only just begun for us.” Zee explained while waving his left hand around.
“Oh okay, so where should we begin? Straight east? Or bend around somewhere for a flank?” Jake asked, hoping that Zee has been paying attention to the events around town while he was passed out.
“First you should drink this while I lay out our plan…” Zee fetched a vial out of his belt, its contents contain orange liquid with brown powder sitting at the bottom of it.
Jake takes it and pops the cork off, then chugs it down his throat.
“Tastes funky, but it’s a bit strong.” Jake said in amazement.
“I made that during our alchemy lessons in class just for you, I know you like strong flavors of your beverages which is good for the effects of this potion. As for the taste though, I’m still working on it. As long as you can stomach it, that’s all that matters.” Zee said while closing his eyes acting all coyly.
“I’ll say, I feel revitalized already!” Jake said with a boost of confidence.
“Not only does it restore your energy, it also sooths your aches and pains. With that, you should be better than you were before that goblin encounter.” Zee said with a smile as he looked towards the town and it turned to a serious look.
“Just don’t over exert yourself and don’t overestimate your strength. Those goblins aren’t normal, and many things are going on in that town. Ranging from smokes and explosions, to a random beast moving towards the center…” Zee said in a grim tone.
“We should get going then…” Jake said as he looks towards the beast crashing through some buildings.
“Yeah, we should…” Zee said as he looks around.
“We should probably come from the northwest to see if there’s anything out of the ordinary, because while you were out. That thing just happened to appear in the center, so I wonder if It was summoned there… Hopefully we’ll find some clues that might hint us to how to get rid of it…” Zee pondered while holding his chin with his left hand.
Jake patted Zee on the shoulder with a warm smile.
“Then the infamous duo should investigate into it right now.” Jake said trying to egg Zee on.
Zee returned the smile. “Let’s ride out then pard'ner.” They nodded their heads and look at the town and the beast one more time, before they both bolted off towards town. The clouds started to drizzle.
