All's Wrong If Not Strong

All's Wrong If Not Strong

Hearing Hua Yan’s demand, Hua Chin wanted to spit out vulgarities.

Hua Yan had murdered people in broad daylight and had also killed the law enforcers that came after him! And now, he even wanted to rob a senior officer of his weapon! Hua Chin was truly unable to contain his anger at this!

Even so, he knew better than to lash out now, especially considering the fact that there was a sword pressed up against his neck. To be honest, he was actually quite happy that Hua Yan had only asked for his weapon and not for his life.

Removing his sword sheath from his belt, he tossed it over to Hua Yan while muttering about having his revenge.

“Just you wait! I’ll—”

Before he could finish, he was interrupted by Hua Yan.

“Yeah, I’ll wait for you. Take your time fetching out your coin purse. I can afford to linger around for a bit.”

Even as he said these words, Hua Yan unsheathed Hua Chin’s sword and began pressing it deeper and deeper into the latter’s neck.

Hua Chin knew that if he didn’t hand over his valuables promptly, his neck would definitely be severed off. This was exactly the threat that Hua Yan was currently making.

Hua Yan could afford to linger around, but could Hua Chin? If Hua Chin dared to try such a thing, he would become nothing more than a corpse.

“Yes! Yes! Just a moment!”

Hua Chin desperately fumbled around his armour for his coin purse. Usually, he never really had a need to take it out whilst on duty, since he could just coerce people into giving him stuff for free or ask his subordinates to pay in his stead.

Now that he was being mugged, however, he realized that he had been storing his purse in a really inconvenient location. Squeezing out of his armour, he finally retrieved his purse, not before dropping it to the ground twice because of how nervous he was though.

Seeing this, Hua Yan found that the situation was quite humorous.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

In normal times, guards would rather be caught dead than to be shamed like this in public. Now, seeing as how this guard was degrading himself in a feeble attempt to protect his life, Hua Yan was rather intrigued.

Usually, even guards with the lowest possible rank would try to act like tyrants in front of Hua Yan and people of similar unimportant status. Now, even this esteemed guard captain was acting very fidgety around Hua Yan and all the bystanders.

The reason? It was because Hua Yan had absolutely terrified the man with his display of power and swordsmanship from earlier. This was a direct consequence of him not holding back at those that wanted to bring him misfortunate.

But, as he considered this, Hua Yan wondered if he had really done the right thing? Sure, those four fatties from before had harmed his sister over a small matter, but did that really give him the right to take their lives? Would a beating not suffice? Why did he have to kill them?

Sure, the guards were coming after him to have him submit to the law, and eventually have him killed, but wasn’t it just their job to enforce the rules? Why did Hua Yan have to be different and escape from their clutches? Wasn’t he acting too arrogantly, putting himself above the law?

It was only now that Hua Yan had realized something. After asking himself all of these questions and seeing how the guards were madly flee for their lives, despite being the ones that were chasing after him not more than a few seconds ago, Hua Yan figured out an answer that would perhaps pave out his future road.

Whether he was right or wrong, he could not afford to be weak. Those without power did not have the luxury to think about morals and ethics. If Hua Yan was weak, he would not even be able to stand up for himself, much less for others. So, if he wanted to take care of his sister, and perhaps do some good for the world, he would need to be stronger for it first. If not, his voice would just be muffled and he would never have the opportunity to speak.

Without strength, he would have been stepped on today by all of the people that came after him. That was why it was important that Hua Yan needed to dedicate his utmost to becoming stronger. He would need to find an alternative way to earn money, since working for 16 hours a day to harvest Truewood Essence was too time-consuming and bereft of proper monetary return.

By this point, all the guards that Hua Chin had arrived with were either all dead or had long since fled. As for the bystanders, they also followed through example. They didn’t want to be near this Hua Yan who had such demonic strength.

Even an 11th level Complete Ballooning Stage expert could not hold a candle to him. If they were to inadvertently offend him now after discovering his immense power, they could be said to be tired of living; hence, they drew up as much distance as they could away from Hua Yan, only watching his actions from very far.

After finally handing over his coin purse, Hua Chin immediately turned to leave. Once again, Hua Yan held him back. There was a plan in his mind.

Hua Yan wanted a better source of income and an idea had struck him when he had received Hua Chin’s money. There were about 50 silvers inside.

This sum of money was a stupendous amount to Hua Yan, who only lived off a few silvers a week. As for Hua Chin, this wasn’t the largest sum that he could afford to bring out. He probably had some more assets hidden away somewhere else. This was simply a small sample, since he only carried it for the sake of show.

A guard could not be walking around without any money on him. Even if it increased the chance of thievery and the like, Hua Chin did not particularly care. Firstly, no thief would come after him, a guard captain of Hua Ding Manor. Secondly, even if he lost this money, it was no big deal, since he could earn it back in under a month.

Realizing this, Hua Yan wanted to make full use of Hua Chin. It would be a waste to have him run away now. Besides, Hua Yan had just offended the Hua Clan. It would be better if he had more information on their military strength and what measures they took to capture criminals.

Hua Yan was prepared to milk Hua Chin of all his worth. The look in Hua Yan’s eyes as he was thinking about this really scared Hua Chin, to the extent that it almost made the man trip back and fall.

“You seem to be a person of important standing. Why not walk around with me for a bit?”
