Chapter 2: Zeus Academy

In the most prestigious hunter school, The Zeus Academy. A girl with silver hair is quietly listening to the lecture about the monsters hierarchy. Her name is Aya Eron and she belongs to the second years 

Aya Pov

How boring! I’m tired of listening to the same thing over and again.

“Monsters are divided into eight levels with the lowest level given to ghouls and the highest to mystical beasts. From level 3, the monster all have raiki and from level 6 they all have the same intelligence as a human.”

I look at the outside and saw the sunlight is shining through the windows on the desks. It’s a sunny day but instead of sitting outside enjoying the warm weather, we are stuck here listening to this boring lecture.

Someone familiar is touching gently my back with her fingers. “What’s the matter, I asked?”

“Hey, Aya have you heard about the first-year genius?”

My best friend Luna Harvest, asked my a strange question. “Never heard of him, why do you ask?”

“Eh?! He has a perfect score in the entrance exam, he is also a hottie too.”

The entrance exam was yesterday, I didn’t particular care about the first-years but a guy like him piques my interest.

Luna’s eyes are shining with bright light and said “Handsome and strong, who doesn’t want a boyfriend like that?”

Tss, she is already daydreaming about him. Time to give her some reality check.

“Who knows what his personality is like. Maybe his real personality is a sadistic maniac that loves torturing innocent girl like you” I said with joking tone

“That’s because you never meet him, I’m sure you opinion will change after looking at him,” Luna said with a dreamy voice

No way, she is already mesmerized by this guy!

Luna turns her head and look at the windows outside. She is clearly dreaming about his perfect guy, suddenly she snaps out and said: “I don’t think I make a chance.”

Yeah, I already know that. “So since when you have any chance?” I asked

“Hey, don’t underestimate my innocent look! I have many boys that are confessing to me.”

“I know, but they are either not handsome or strong enough according to you.”

“Only Shinn is worthy for me,” Luna muttered

Shinn? So that’s his name. I want to personally meet him and see how “awesome” he is.

“That girl….” Luna suddenly said with a disappointing look

Huh, what is she suddenly talking about?

“What?” I asked further

“There is another one with a perfect score, it’s a girl and beautiful one too.

She is maybe the prettiest girl I have ever seen in my entire life. You are slightly inferior compared to her, Aya-baby.

Stop nicknaming like that, it’s so embarrassing. Luckily my classmates didn’t pay attention and are whispering each other. The teacher like always ignored or whispers and just continued to talk  

“Now you are exaggerating too much Luna, how can two beautiful people have a perfect score at the same day? Isn’t that too much of a coincidence?”

“I wish I can find something wrong with her appearance but she is just perfect. I never saw someone like that. It’s like she isn’t human.”

I’m curious about this girl and asked to Luna  “So what is the pretty girl  name?”

“I heard she is named Agni.”

Shinn and Agni, perfect people like them really exists? I really want to see with my own eyes.

The lecture ended, everyone immediately leaves the classroom with an excited face. Students in the Zeus academy are free to do whatever they want after the lessons.

Some went to the city shopping,drinking or just going out. After two years, the students need to take a 1-star hunter exam. If they succeed they are promoted to a 1-star hunter if they fail they need to take the exam again after a year. Repeaters are rare in the Zeus academy because everyone here are the elite of the elite.

When you become a 1-star hunter, you can decide to participate which lecture you want. You can also do missions to earn money.

Yesterday a special event has occurred. Two students got a perfect score on their entrance exam and are promoted to a 1-star hunter. That means they are technically third-year students now. The maximum rank hunter you can achieve in this academy is 4-star. To go beyond this, you need to enter the Hunter's Guild.

Agni pov

The reason why I want to enter this school is because of the amount of information I can gather. Eternal Research Facility, higher ranked monsters and other things.

I know this is dangerous, if my identity is known, I will be killed. It’s not like that I care. But there is still a debt I must repay before dying. Even though I don’t have emotions attached to my life, she is still the one who saved me.

I arrived at the academy, it’s indeed special at the first glance. There is a big stair leading to the academy. 

The main gate is guarded by two men.

I greeted them and asked how can I enter this academy. The guards seeing how bluntly I asked laughed and said  

“There is entrance exam going on. You need to pass the exam and you are accepted in this academy.”

So I asked where the guard where to register myself.

“The exam is still ongoing, hurry up or you will be too late for the registration”

He leads me to the location where the entrance exam is.

“I’m sorry instructor Kallas! But this girl keep saying she wants to participate the exam.

The man called instructor Kallas  coldly said without even looking at me  “Registration is over, wait for next year.”

Should I kill him? I sense that his strength  is below me so killing him is not that difficult. Before I make a decision there is suddenly is another figure walking towards us. It’s a teenage boy about 16 years old.

The boy is wearing a black cloak, he has blueish hair and sharp eyes. I can feel his raiki, it’s slightly stronger than me. It doesn’t matter even he has a superior raiki, I feel I can defeat him in a fight because of my enchantments and regeneration.

“I hope I’m not too late! I want to participate the exams,” he said to the instructor

“My name is Shinn Yashiro, here is a recommendation letter from my father.”

“Yashiro?” the instructor speak with a surprised tone

He immediately opens the letter and his countenance changed.  “So you are Renji Yashiro son. How is your father doing?”

“He is alive and kicking. Can I take the exams now?”

The instructor nodded and shouted, “Open the door!”

The big stone door behind the instructor is opened in front of my eyes. Behind the door are  countless people waiting in a queue ready to take the exam.

Shinn entered, I followed him but then I heard a shout from the instructor.

“You stay here girl, only he is allowed to enter.”

“What are you going to do, if I entered together with him.” I challenged the instructor

“How dare you to speak to me like that? You are ten years too early to that, you brat! Even though your face ain’t that bad. How about this I let you enter if but I need something in return.”

The instructor started lecherously at my body revealing his true intentions.

“Fine, do whatever you want. Hurry up.” I said with an impatient voice

Just before the instructor touches my body a voice is interrupting his actions. It’s that boy called Shinn.

“She is my friend, couldn’t you give her a chance?”  Unexpected I got help from him. He slightly smiled and winked at me.

The instructor walks towards me and whispered: “This time you are lucky, but the next time you won’t escape from me.”

Than he asked “Name?!”

“Agni”

“You can go with him now.” The instructor is obviously angry at Shinn.

I nodded and followed shin.

“Thank you.” I give Shinn my gratitude

“It’s nothing, you don’t have to thank me. May I have your name?”

“It’s this your first time participating this exam?”  he asked

“Yes.”

“Let’s do our best  then."
