A few weeks or months have gone by and he started to get the hang of his newfound powers and body. It's nice, almost cathartic, to have something to focus on after everything. his discoveries are quite interesting as well. Before he thought about his powers he decided to pull up the stats window:

When he started putting my mind to it, ignite and fireball mixed into fire manipulation. Now he can freely control about 4 inches of fire in the volume of a circle, if he wants it to be longer the sides have to be smaller and vice versa.
He checked the system and he found that he has the lowest grade of everything right now. That means he can have the same window as a full-grown dragon but its 11 intelligence will give it 1111111 mp (theoretically) while his will give him 33. While he is stronger than most animals, a normal tiger or elk can put him in a dangerous situation.
He also has a little more control over shadows now. He can see a bit better in the dark and can bend, extend, and make shadows fainter. His favorite part so far though is shadow jumping. While he can do it, it has a limited range of about 4 feet right now. It was disorienting for him at first but he just did it as much as possible that at this point it's second nature.
He also found out about summoning and dark magic. He tried summoning something before but felt sick and found that he needed 35 mp to do so. Once he allocated his stats, he decided to summon a companion. Although it appears simple, many inherent skills will come once he actually summons one. There are skills ranging anywhere from enslaving them to a point where they have no consciousness to forming a bond so tight that if they die, he dies.
Dark magic is just as broad, it consists of herbal medicine, tattoos, runes, sacrifices, variations of all types or other magics like dark fire and killing someone with their own shadow at the cost of much more mana. Another big part of dark magic is necromancy, its similar to familiars in many ways but the few differences are it costs less mana, and has no thoughts of its own, at first. It is also very risky in that a familiar will never betray you but the undead can.
One other thing he sorely overlooked is he technically has wings now, but they don't seem to help much other than to jump a little higher and flutter a little. It does make combat somewhat easier as he can avoid more attacks but a stray horned rabbit can still kill him if he is not careful. He then decided to allocate my points now. putting 5 into wisdom, intelligence, and summoning. This makes it to where he is able to summon now.
As he uses summoning he realizes that it is much more complex than any of the other magic. He feels like it is analyzing his soul…. Almost like it's searching for something inside him, searching his entire being for his most vulnerable areas. It feels… AMAZING! He has never felt more alive and euphoric. This amazing feeling left just as quickly as it came. He desperately tried to cling onto that brief release.
A light shines in front of him and laying there is a baby wolf that couldn't be bigger than his tiny leg with completely black with the exception of his paws, chest, and snout that has a crimson vibrance. As he opens his eyes, Alex notices that they are bright red with a black sclera. His eyes betray his curiosity and complete admiration for something. “Wait, is he looking at me? Oh shit, he is! Fuck of course he is I summoned him. Should I name him?” he thinks to himself.
A light flashed in Alex's eyes as he thought of a clever name.
“I'll name you Hephaestion!”
He barks loudly and tries to howl but it only comes out as a squeak. Bursting into laughter I rub him on the head.
“Don't do that please, master,” as he rubs his ear with his paw.
It took Alex a second to comprehend “... You can talk?”.
“Yes, master,” He says, still scratching his ear.
“How? Why?” Alex asks in astonishment.
“For right now only you can understand me. The other information I do not know because I was just born” he says with so much conviction Alex almost misses something that seems important.
“Then how do you know that only I can understand you?”
“I don't know, just a guess,” he shrugs.
“So… what can you do”.
“... aren't you the one who created me?”
They hear a roar in the distance and notice it's getting dark out. From when he started to when he finished it must have been 12 or so hours. Feeling exhausted he decided it would be best to continue in the morning. He made dinner for him and the pup and went to bed.
A few hours later he awoke to what sounded a lot like scratching.
“Oh hey”
“Good morning master!” the pup yips as he runs to Alex and licks him half to death.
“Good morning to you too” he barely manages to get out between laughs. Getting up only to realize he had forgotten all about the other world and the death of his family. As he is almost about to break down again, the pup rubs his head under Alex's arm.
“Thank you for that…” He then realizes something. “ Hey, I should name you, right? How does Hephaestion sound?” he says remembering when his old friends used to call him Alexander the Great.
“I love it, and any other name you would give me.” the pup says devoutly but unaware of his master's little joke.
