The Darklands are a land free of the prejudices of the Light kingdoms. The Darklanders do not foolishly look down upon necromancy for things like farming, after all, animals have feelings, animated dead don't. Warlocks are free to study the secrets of the universe without persecution by priests. Unfortunately, two months ago, the current Emperor, the Overlord, lost the Twelfth Crusade against an alliance of Lumenia, the Kingdom of Faith, and Bravaro, the Kingdom of Chivalry, and was assassinated not a month after. A civil war has begun in the Darklands, with the Overlord's son the Necromancer battling the rebel leader the Deceiver. In the meantime, in the Light kingdoms, after the end of the Twelfth Crusade, tensions are rising as the kingdoms squabble over the loot from the war. Heated disputes over territory and gold tear the alliance apart, and the kingdoms appear to be readying for war. In the Darklands, a girl sings a song and becomes the Charmer and a woman named the Trickster hears it. In Lumenia, an acolyte prays and receives a great blessing while the Squire who slew the Overlord becomes the Unwavering Paladin, and somewhere, a shadowy figure is laughing. NOTE: This is my first fiction, grammatical mistakes and plot holes should be pointed out in the comments and fixed. Flames will be used to roast marshmallows. If something looks like a plot hole, it might actually be ominous foreshadowing. Cue maniacal laughter. WARNING: Characters, especially Darklanders, will have skewed morals.
