Bang. Another book on the floor.
Kiro knew something was up.
That's why he volunteered to stay overnight at the library. He requested to, there wasn't a need for it at the library.
Perhaps any strange thing that happened in the day could have logic to it, but at night? It's wrong. Thumping noises might be heard at night. Books found in odd places, even when things should have been cleaned up. Sometimes, Kiro swears he saw a glint of something.
It seemed like he'd see flashes of something moving.
He had begun doing research on the supernatural and found that this may be the work of a low level supernatural entity.
He set up a few contraptions in order to detect spirit activity, and he has gotten a positive on most tests. There is something here.
Tonight, he will attempt contact. Soon, he will try an exorcism.
----------------------------------------
I'm so excited for tonight! I finally get to stay up tonight because I've gotten that much BETTER!...
Wait. Why don't I remember falling asleep, like, ever? What happens to me when the sun goes down? Have I been so distracted that... I remember now.
Oh geeze, at night I didn't have enough energy to control my primal instincts. At night, the library is haunted. At night... Demons roam and spirits reign.
I'm strong enough now.
I can't believe I slipped up like that! Darn it!
I sensed the atmosphere shift ever so slightly at my irritation. Dang, someone was there when I started doing it too! At night, someone has been watching me. Someone has seen me. I hope exorcists don't get involved... Oh well, I can control myself better now. They'll forget eventually, and things will become "normal".
Humans don't like to acknowledge supernatural things.
This won't... Last. Probably.
Hey, at least I'll get to enjoy my first night while being truly conscious. Hurray...
The sun sets and darkness rises, staring at the land with the lonely eye you may call the moon.
----------------------------------------
Hey, nighttime is sooooo fun!
I feel more energized, stronger, and maybe hungrier- but it's fine. This is nothing compared to resisting blood.
The energy in the air is more still, but also more potent. I can move it easier, consume more energy from the air itself, (like a cultivator, isn't that cool!?!) and also, I can sense things more and see better. Strange to see better in the dark, but hey, what works works. #demonPerks
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
Low spirits or perhaps small demons wonder carelessly into my territory, I shouldn't call it that. If I get attached, will I be able to leave?? Ofcourse I can. Im not a lingering ghost, I'm a demonling! My intelligence is a hundred times other demonlings. Anyways, those small spirits and demons I hunt and eat and feel more power.
But it's disorganized.
I start refining the energy within me.
It's too random and going in too many directions. I'll order it, refine it, cycle it, just like a cultivator. Release the null energy I don't need, keep a little of it, solidify myself, strengthen myself...
Keep repeating. It's more of a challenge to control the volatile energy at night, but it feels more rewarding somehow. It's harder to control my presence, but that just makes doing so increase my ability to hide it even more so. Like running around as training is daytime attempts, but controlling myself at night could be compared to wearing weights and running.
While my powers and presence/aura is more abundant at night, it's harder to hide. I guess it's pretty easy to control. I can shoot a small shock of energy at a spirit with great control, and it sends the spirit down spasming... But I feel the atmosphere shift much easier with me at night. That's what's hard to control. The effects I have on this world.
Will I become a problem for everyone when I get stronger?...Will my meer existence affect others around me?
I can't let that happen. I can't.

Creak....crrrr...
A door opens in the library. A soft yellow light shines through. The dark blue haired man enters quietly... His shoes lightly tapping the floor as he goes. tap tap tap, tap-tap.
Wow.
He's back. He's the rat guy, right? Has he been that determined all this time? My eye focuses on him, different from the past nights, I can tell. Before I was acting on instinct, but I am now aware.
----------------------------------------
Kiro POV:
Kiro walked into the library. He felt the moon light kiss his skin from where he stood outside, almost as if it was trying to pull him away from the library. Maybe it was lurring him in instead. It's hard to tell.
He walks lightly, but he isn't trying hard enough to completely conceal his presence. The entity here is presumably of low level, and won't follow him if he isn't noticed. He just has to be interesting enough for it to follow him, but it's not at the level to intelligently follow something in its territory yet other than wanting to eat it, according to the manuel on low level spirits and whatnot.
Something is different tonight. He feels nearly as if he's being watched. I guess when you carry things related to the supernatural into a haunted area, the spirit notices. That's logical. And it makes sense. Spirits get more active around things connected to spirituality.
He walks the empty wooden halls towards someplace near the middle of the library and sets up some papers and candles.
Inscribed with words and images, the papers lay. The candles placed around it. Setting down a plate filled with generic 'Spirit Food!' topped with some generic 'Demon Dust', he lays the bait.
----------------------------------------
This is a lowly ritual performed by mortals who aren't truly connected to the spiritual world, but it's not like mortals are truly aware of the spirits most of the time. It uses mostly physical things and doesn't need much spiritual energy from whoever sets it up so it isn't much of anything, but the bait is nearly guaranteed to create some sort of activity in the area.
----------------------------------------
The atmosphere gets heavier once everything is in place.
Breathing deeply, he starts lighting the candles and creating a circle of ink on the edges of the paper. A single stick of incense is placed on the plate and burned. It feels as if the darkness is approaching him.
He sees movement, something white- teeth.
A soft thud is heard. More books falling?
The atmosphere deepens. "You who haunts this place... Come here." Kiro says as dictated.
A red glow appears in front of him, moving around. It's an eye. They lock gazes. He feels chilled and something changes in the world around him.
Then it's over.
He's alive, but the (demon?) got away. It wasn't necessarily a exorcism, but it was a binding ritual. He saw an opportunity and decided to try it. He should... Look into this. Now.
What demons have a red eye? A maw of teeth?
----------------------------------------
HOLY CRAP WHAT JUST HAPPENED??? The little demonling wondered.
