As Ela quickly approached the strange-looking creature, she formulated a plan. She intended to use her cleave ability to defeat it in one swift motion. Transforming into her spirit form, Ela took a deep breath and mentally prepared herself.
“Now!” she thought as she summoned her cleave ability. A giant spirit appeared before her, ready to swiftly strike the thornvine. In that moment, Ela exited her spirit form and activated her “spirit summon.” With her short sword drawn, she and the spirits launched their attacks simultaneously, and her cleave ability made contact.
The thorn vine, noticing the spirits and Ela appearing, lets out a weird, piercing sound, causing Ela to freeze for a split second. Biting her lip, she regains her senses and continues her assault. Her cleave ability hits the vine first on the backside of its body leaving a deep cut on the vine's back with green liquid gushing out from within.
“SCREEE!” the vine screeched as thorns erupted across its body. Feeling a sense of danger, Ela quickly stopped her attack and transformed into her spirit form. She was relieved she did, as the moment she did, the thorns shot out in every direction.
Even Damien had to retreat into his shadow to avoid being hit. Returning to her physical form, Ela summoned her spirit again. With caution written on her face, she launched herself forward, skillfully dodging the thrashing vines. Targeting the wound left by her cleave ability, she and her spirit both attacked. The spirit struck the wounded area with an elemental blade, while Ela drove her short sword into the injury.
"This is not going to work. I need to use Cleave again; otherwise, I'll never defeat this thing," she lamented to herself. The vine's body was too large and thick, rendering her short sword nearly useless. The spirit could inflict more damage than she could, as its blade was made from spirit energy, but it still couldn't compare to Cleave.
"I guess it's time to use that…"
Since Ela had reached level thirty, she had the opportunity to choose from five different skills. The one she was about to use was her newest addition, and Ela hoped it would deal some decent damage.
With a focused expression, she activated her new ability. A cloak wrapped around Ela's body, giving her an almost ethereal appearance. The cloak had a ghostly, light green color that fully enveloped her. As it did, she raised her hand and summoned a swarm of blob-like entities that gathered around her. As Ela summoned Cleave once more, the thornvine redirected its attention towards the giant spirit, ignoring Ela entirely, which made her smirk.
"Go!" She pointed her hand forward, and all the blob-like entities shot out at incredible speed. Within milliseconds, they struck the vine, piercing its body with small, round holes.
“SCREEE!” the vine screamed out once more before collapsing onto its stomach in pain at the same time Ela’s cleave arrived above its head, unable to get its barrings after being hit with Ela’s new ability the cleave hit its target cutting the head of the vine off in one motion making a prompt appear in Ela’s eyes.
*DING* user has killed level “8-Legged Thornvine”
*DING* The user has earned “map”
Listening to the notifications Ela looked down at her hand and arms that were still cloaked by her new ability with an awed expression she had read the description of the ability but was not expecting it to be so good.

Cloak of the Spirit King - The cloak of the spirit king was thought to be long lost and as its newest wielder you can either be the hope of the spirits or their demise. Allows the user to summon the spirit king's cloak and use a fraction of the king's power.
Once Ela put on the cloak, it felt almost as if she intuitively understood how to harness the power of the “king” and what actions to take. She sensed that there was even more she could do with this ability, realizing that it was her responsibility to fully learn how to wield this “power.”
However, she felt uncertain about the description of the skill, which seemed cryptic: “Be the spirit's hope or their demise.” Unsure of its implications, she decided that if she encountered any actual spirits, she would refrain from showcasing her ability until she understood it better.
Before long, she heard footsteps approaching from her left. Looking over her shoulder, she saw Damien coming toward her with a smile. When he noticed her turn in his direction, he gave her a thumbs-up and said, “Good job! Was that last cloak thing a new ability?” His curiosity was evident.
“Yeah, I got it for reaching level thirty. Remember the system said that every ten levels after level twenty, we get to choose a new skill? Once I reached level thirty, I had the option to pick from five different skills, each with varying rarities and abilities.”
Pausing for a moment, she continued, “I chose the highest rarity option, which is mythical. This ability allows me to summon that cloak and use powers from the ‘spirit king.’ I'm not entirely sure what that entails, but I know that the ability is really strong and has great potential for improvement,” Ela explained.
“That sounds cool! Did you get the map, by the way? I didn’t see it drop, so I can only assume you have it,” Damien asked.
“Yeah, after the vine died, the system notified me that I had acquired the map,” Ela replied.
“Alright, then shall we look for the legendary? I want to get out of this damn maze event already,” Damien said, clearly tired of the labyrinthine setup.
Nodding in agreement, Ela summoned the map from her system storage. As she gazed down at the map, she noticed a golden line appearing beneath her and Damien's feet, indicating the direction they were supposed to head.
“Let’s go,” she said, starting to run in that direction with Damien following closely behind.
While Damien and Ela were heading toward the legendary monster a man with a giant sword on his back was engaged in a fierce battle, upon closer inspection the man had an almost mad smile on his face and he would occasionally laugh out loud.
“HAHA, yes this is what I wanted the system to be not that boring shit from before where only weaklings resided.” the man yelled out loud seemingly beaming with enjoyment at his current fight.
Opposite the man stood his opponent, a woman wielding a giant hammer that Damien had noticed before the event began. Unlike the man, who wore an excited expression, the woman had a much more solemn look on her face.
As the man swung his massive sword, the woman swiftly dodged and summoned blue ice spikes around her. Pointing in the man’s direction, the spikes shot out toward him, but he effortlessly evaded each one while speaking with a mad-like grin.
“What’s your name, woman?” he asked, still smiling.“Nova,” she responded before swinging her giant hammer down at the man who easily avoided it with a sidestep. “Well Nova, my name is Jake make sure to remember it. Now how about we end this fight here while I would love to continue fighting someone as strong as yourself I have some stuff to take care of, what do you say?” Jake asked while adopting a serious expression.
Nova regarded his question with an unreadable expression, “That’s fine with me.” Nova curtly responded. She had made this decision as fighting this man would not be worth her time not only would it take to long to defeat him she was not sure if she even could in the first place.
“Good, it was nice sparing with you Nova now if you will excuse me I have a hunt to continue,” Jake responded with an expression that creeped Nova out making a chill go up her spine.
