Chapter 4: The Goddess of Wisdom, Athena

Chapter 4: The Goddess of Wisdom, Athena

Having made contact with the Greek gods and achieving his goal, it was time for Alex to part ways with Heracles.

As Heracles departed, Alex's gaze swept across the surroundings. He knew that, according to the storyline, Athena had been nearby the whole time, ready to make her appearance at any moment. Faced with this situation, he remained calm, smiling slightly, and said in a steady voice, "Come out, Athena, I know you're there."

Sure enough, as Alex's words fell, a figure slowly emerged from the shadows.

Her steps were graceful and composed, carrying an air of natural nobility and an aura of invincibility. Her golden hair flowed like waves, shimmering under the sunlight, casting a cool and mysterious glow. Her deep, penetrating eyes resembled the brightest stars in the night sky, glinting with wisdom and authority, as if they could see through the thoughts of anyone. Her skin was as white as snow, smooth to the touch, yet exuded a chilling aura, as if she were born to be untouchable, capable of effortlessly crushing all challengers. Her golden armor, light as a feather, traced the outline of her perfect figure, with no excess, revealing her divine and inviolable presence.

Every glance, every movement she made, was enough to make one unable to look directly at her, yet unable to take their eyes off her. Her beauty wasn’t just delicate, but carried a pressure and shock that far exceeded that of any mortal, making anyone feel inadequate in comparison.

Athena had appeared.

However, she seemed somewhat embarrassed by the sudden exposure, and was also taken aback by Alex's confidence. War God Ares stood to the side, stunned by the scene, both angry and embarrassed—clearly, Athena had seen his earlier humiliating actions.

Alex smirked inwardly but kept his composure outwardly. "Athena, I am the Sword God from the New World. I’ve come here today in hopes of forming an alliance with you."

Athena raised an eyebrow slightly, responding coldly, “You are nothing but a mortal. How dare you claim to be a god?” Her tone was filled with clear disdain and wariness. “What can you do? Why should I cooperate with you?”

Alex wasn’t angered; instead, he chuckled lightly, “Don’t you want to hear my plan?” He said it casually, as if offering a chance. “It might just be a good opportunity for you.”

Athena turned to leave. “I’m not interested.”

At that moment, as Athena turned, Alex's gaze grew cold. Both Alex and Ares exchanged a brief look—clearly, neither wanted to miss this chance.

Without warning, Alex activated his "100% Unarmed Weapon Catch" skill. In an instant, the blade sliced through the air. Athena, who had been preparing to ascend, was unexpectedly yanked back by the force. She swiftly discarded all her weapons and flew backwards, landing on one knee and catching Alex's bronze sword with ease.

Athena’s face changed immediately. She had never expected to fall victim to this. Shocked and furious, she had no choice but to keep silent, her gaze fixed on Alex.

Ares, seeing this, was in a great mood. He looked at Athena and couldn’t help but smile. “Ha, even the Goddess of Wisdom didn’t escape this. Truly splendid! If she were really wise, she should’ve just run when she had the chance.”

Athena’s face darkened, but she remained smart enough to keep silent. She knew that no matter what she said, she couldn’t reverse the situation now.

Alex smiled faintly, his tone casual: “You should listen to my plan, Athena. It will benefit you.”

Although Athena was deeply displeased, she didn’t immediately retort. Alex continued, “Zeus, as the king of the gods, refuses to build his own divine kingdom and spends his days in indulgence. He initially wanted to erase your existence, but after your birth, he became obsessed with your beauty. I heard of his lecherous reputation all the way from the New World.” Alex's voice was low but powerful. “My purpose here is to make Zeus loyal, to make him truly love Hera.”

“With this, you no longer need to worry about his gaze. This would be a good thing for every goddess,” Alex continued, meeting Athena’s gaze directly.

Before Alex finished speaking, Athena quickly replied, “Fine, I’ll join. Let me up.”

Alex nodded, his voice clear: “As long as you agree to protect me with all your strength for a year in exchange for one gold coin and join my plan, I will let you up.”

Though Athena was reluctant, she knew she had no choice but to agree. “Fine, I agree.”

Alex knew that part of what he said wasn’t entirely true. The task only required “Zeus to truly love Hera”, without specifying how long this love needed to last. Perhaps a single second would suffice to complete the task. And if Athena helped him fully, he could help eliminate her worries with Zeus.
