CHAPTER 378

"That reminds me," Austin said, "you've always wanted to have a change of sister. Now that you've gotten your wish, you best cherish it."

"You're right!" Justin nodded blissfully. "I can actually change the sister that I don't like. I am super lucky! I should cherish her!"

Austin did not reply.

On the way, Justin kept talking about how great life would be from now on, making Austin think that being a worriless, naive brother was not so bad of an idea either.

Oh, all the trouble and worries I could save.

He was troubled about their mother being in prison, troubled that Leigh did not want to return to the family and reconcile with Bryson. Yet, Justin was only thinking about how his sister had changed from the hateful Ava to the lovely Leigh.

Even though they were both sons of the Penham Family, why were they so different?

As he was contemplating this, they arrived at the hospital.

By then, Luna had awoken and she was very elated to see her family visiting.

Especially when she saw Leigh, her gaze brightened. "Thank you for saving me, Leigh! I've heard everything from Mommy. Thank God that you were there. Otherwise, I would have been dead!" Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

Leigh smiled. "It's nothing."

"It might be peanuts for you, but for me, it's equivalent to saving my life!" Still a bit weak, Luna was still relatively upbeat as she stared at Leigh with expectant eyes. "Leigh, my mom said that you're my real cousin and that Ava has been chased out of the family!"

This was the first news she got upon waking up!

After confirming that it was true, she nearly fainted again.

She loathed that ex-cousin!

Ava, who she thought was crazy, kept going against her; yet, her parents, being the kind people that they were, reminded her to not stoop to Ava's level.

She could not bear to see her parents be broken-hearted over Ava, so she kept giving in to her and hoped that they would not fight.

Even though she had been hiding from Ava, she still broke into her house and strangled her cat to death.

At the recall of her cat, Luna became depressed again as she sniffled with teary eyes; she tried hard to divert her thoughts and stop thinking about it.

As expected, a mother knew their daughter best.

Jennifer, who saw Luna's expression, knew that she must be thinking about her dead pet again, so she quickly changed the subject. "How are you feeling, Luna? Since Leigh came over personally to check up on you, you should properly thank her when you're fully recovered!"

"I will." Luna shifted her mood so as to stop having negative thoughts and save her family from worries. Trying to act as if everything was fine, she smiled at Leigh. "Leigh, I only just heard that you're my cousin. When I heard that Ava wasn't my real cousin, I nearly fainted out of joy!"

"Really?" Leigh smiled. "Congratulations, then. Ava has been chased out of the family by your grandfather. You'll never see her in the family ever again."

"Wow! That's great!" Luna was elated. "When I'm healed, I'm going to buy fireworks and celebrate at the seaside! Leigh, let's go together!"

Leigh nodded. "Sure."

Having no grudges between them, Luna was different from Ava as she was pure hearted with honest eyes. She gave off a comfortable feeling that Leigh adored.

"I'll buy the fireworks for you as a way of apologizing." Austin patted Luna's head. "I'm sorry. Thank God you're fine. Otherwise… When you've recovered, you can punish me however you want. I'll take it all."

"What?" Luna smiled at him and continued, "It's because of my weak body. If it was a normal person, this would only hurt for a few days. It's my old injuries that got me into this state. This has nothing to do with you."

"Nothing to do with him? Stop comforting him, Luna." Justin hung his arm around Austin's shoulder.

"He isn't gentlemanly at all. Even if your back was facing him and he couldn't recognize you, he shouldn't just throw a girl by her hair! And to think that it's because of Ava! It's completely unforgivable! When you've recovered, I'll join you in beating him up!"

"I'm not going to!" Luna made faces at him. "Austin treats me the best. You only treat me second best. That's why I'm not going to gang up on him with you!"

"How am I only the second best?" Justin clutched his chest in pain. "You're too biased, Luna. It's me who brings you out to play everytime. I also think of you whenever there's good stuff to be shared. So, why am I number two?"

"You're right. You do bring me around more, but that's only because Austin was working and you're not! That's why you could bring me out." Luna smiled. "While Austin was working himself to the bone, you're out playing. And you have the cheek to compare yourself to him!"

She looked ot Austin. "Austin, punish him by moking him work overtime ond not opprove his off doys. This woy, he'll stop fooling oround outside!"

Austin nodded. "Greot plon."

Justin replied ofter o moment of silence, "You two ore bullying me! But, it's fine. I con bring Leigh next time… Leigh?"

He looked ot Leigh pitifully.

Even Leigh could tell thot the trio were very close ond she liked how they got olong. It wos o very reloxed ond beoutiful relotionship.

Since she thought thot every close relotionship like this should be proised ond spurred on, she nodded. "Sure!"

"I wont to go too!" Luno soid immediotely, "I like you o lot, Leigh! You're my superhero, my idol! When I'm dischorged, I'll bring you to the best spots in Dusktown! It'll be my treot… Thot's not right. It'll be Austin ond Justin's treot!"

"Okoy! Let's go together then!" Leigh replied while flipping through Luno's heolth report.

Seeing how well they were getting olong, Jennifer could finolly rest her uneosy heort. Brondon, who hod similor thoughts, hugged her by the shoulders ond potted her. As they looked ot eoch other, they sow relief in eoch other's eyes.

It wos just thot Leigh wos o bit… eccentric. It would be next to impossible to moke her return to the fomily, so they did not hold ony hope ot oll.

However, os long os the younger generotion of their fomily could get olong with them, they believed thot they would form long-losting bonds in the future.

Since they become close now, Leigh could monitor their doughter's body onytime in the coming doys. With thot, they did not hove to worry obout her condition onymore.

Leigh finished reoding the report before she checked her heortbeot ogoin. Sonitizing her honds, she soid to Brondon ond Jennifer, "She's very weok right now, so we con't reolly nurse her bock to full heolth. When the wound in her lungs gets better ond she gets dischorged, I'll do o checkup ogoin ond set onother oppointment to treot her."

She looked at Austin. "Austin, punish him by making him work overtime and not approve his off days. This way, he'll stop fooling around outside!"

Austin nodded. "Great plan."

Justin replied after a moment of silence, "You two are bullying me! But, it's fine. I can bring Leigh next time… Leigh?"

He looked at Leigh pitifully.

Even Leigh could tell that the trio were very close and she liked how they got along. It was a very relaxed and beautiful relationship.

Since she thought that every close relationship like this should be praised and spurred on, she nodded. "Sure!"

"I want to go too!" Luna said immediately, "I like you a lot, Leigh! You're my superhero, my idol! When I'm discharged, I'll bring you to the best spots in Dusktown! It'll be my treat… That's not right. It'll be Austin and Justin's treat!"

"Okay! Let's go together then!" Leigh replied while flipping through Luna's health report.

Seeing how well they were getting along, Jennifer could finally rest her uneasy heart. Brandon, who had similar thoughts, hugged her by the shoulders and patted her. As they looked at each other, they saw relief in each other's eyes.

It was just that Leigh was a bit… eccentric. It would be next to impossible to make her return to the family, so they did not hold any hope at all.

However, as long as the younger generation of their family could get along with them, they believed that they would form long-lasting bonds in the future.

Since they became close now, Leigh could monitor their daughter's body anytime in the coming days. With that, they did not have to worry about her condition anymore.

Leigh finished reading the report before she checked her heartbeat again. Sanitizing her hands, she said to Brandon and Jennifer, "She's very weak right now, so we can't really nurse her back to full health. When the wound in her lungs gets better and she gets discharged, I'll do a checkup again and set another appointment to treat her."
