Epilogue
Last night’s battle was the most intense thing Kevin had ever taken part in. Commadorous Sixtyfourous was part machine, part dinosaur, and all monster. It was just the beta version. The upgraded game is being released next month. If that was just the beginning, what more did this game have in store for the players?
The pod he used to enter the game world looked so simple from the outside. Everything he experienced while in the pod, and by extension the turtle planet, felt so real. He had been interviewed so many times because he was one of only a paw full of players that were given pods and access to the game. In every interview, they asked him what it was like playing the game. The only way he could verbalize his experience was by saying, “It felt as if I was really there. It was so real.” No other headset, or VR setup compared to this. His mind was transported into another world, while his body remained here.

He turned the pod on. Being a beta player, everything he did in the game was live streamed to millions of canines. He was proud when his human joined the fight and turned the battle. That video had been watched so many times it almost broke the internet. The reaction videos had their own reaction videos. With every view, his company logo was always on the screen as he played.
He entered the pod, waiting for the game to load. Normally the process was smooth, this time it was different. It was like someone slowing down a car. They typically empty the space of the loading area, but a human with the head of an orca sat in a fine chair and greeted him.
“I am in a bind, I am a byte behind, and I am willing to make a deal. Do you want to be a beast, a monster, a man, or even a mix? In exchange for a favor, how about I remake you something more in your own right. A werewolf?”
“Sure, it is only just a game.”
