PROLOGUE

A teleportation portal was levitating in the sky. It resembled a multicolored vortex spinning rapidly around its axis. A teleportation portal was pretty common in the world of Asteron. It linked two distant locations and allowed anyone to travel instantly between them. Such a portal could link two places which could be very distant form each other. But this portal was different from the others as it had something special about it. It was not its blood red color as the portals could have any random color, nor was it the sound it produced which was like a faint buzzing sound making the air vibrating around it. Teleportation portal didn’t normally emit any sound but there were always exceptions. No, what was different about this portal was its size. It was enormous, as if it covered the entire sky.

Long time had passed since the world of Asteron had seen a portal like this. The last record mentioning a portal this huge was from ancient times, the times of legends and whenever it appeared, a huge calamity would follow. Several seconds after its formation, the portal shook violently and ejected something. It was a person who came out of the portal so quickly that the air distorted in her path. A deafening sound followed by a shockwave spread in the surrounding, sweeping everything in its path: trees, rivers and even mountains. Nothing was spared and everything shook once more when the person slammed into the ground with an Earth-shaking Heaven-shattering power. The impact was so violent that it formed an explosion like an atomic bomb, creating an earthquake and sending tons and tons of debris toward the sky. Once the person was ejected, the portal disappeared like it was never there moments before.

On the ground, in the center of a crater was a woman who was panting heavily. She had a golden-colored skin and pure white hair. Her face covered with blood and she had the whole body battered with wounds. The most incredible was her height, nearly thirty meters tall. The giant woman wore a red black armor which, in normal time, protected all her body. Unfortunately, the armor had obviously seen better days. The breastplate was badly damaged with many holes from which blood was flowing endlessly. Half of the greave had disappeared somewhat, letting the right thigh and the right part of the hip exposed. The woman whose name was Aziel didn’t feel very well. She tried to stand up but, feeling too dizzy, abandoned the idea. A throbbing pain in the right shoulder bothered her very much. It was obviously broken. The shoulder plate which should have protected the said shoulder wasn’t there anymore. She was in a sorry state but thanked God that she was still alive.

She spread her divine sense in the surrounding, not wanting to let her guard down. Maybe those bastards had followed her? Her divine sense expanded till it covered thousands of kilometers around. Nothing could escape her. She sensed everything and found no danger. She let out a sigh of relief when realizing that she was safe for now. After that, she made a grasping motion with the left hand within which appeared a bottle. A red liquid was floating inside the bottle and it emitted a faint red radiance. She moved the bottle head inside her mouth and removed the cap before gulping everything in one go. When she drank all the liquid her wounds healed at an incredible rate. Feeling the control of her body returning to her, Aziel drank another bottle and then another. She drank a total of sixteen before stopping. Broken bones, torn muscles, wounded organs… everything was healed in the span of few minutes.

Afterward, she straightened up and sat corss-legged on the ground. At that moment, she was slightly different from before. A gentle golden light was emitted from her like the light of a firefly. Her complexion had clearly improved. Aziel belonged to the race of hyperions, the final evolution of humanity from Earth. They were beings basked with magic, capable heaven-defying earth-shattering feats. Their mastery of magic had been so perfect that many powerful races of the universe had become frightened and had allied together to fight them. This war, known as the Eternal War, last for hundreds of millions of years already and there was no end in sight. Aziel was one the best general of the hyperions. In a hundred battles, she won ninety-nine of them. Her achievement was so huge that her enemies made her the number one target in the list of people to kill.

She was feared by her enemies and even more by the soldiers under her command. Indeed, Aziel was a little eccentric as she treated the war like a game. The enemies were just targets to kill and the soldiers were just pieces to move over the gameboard. If the victory needed the sacrifice of an entire army, she wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice everyone. Although she lacked humanity, her superiors didn’t complain as she was too efficient. Aziel was a rarely seen tactical genius. Moreover, she loved to fight and would choose the most difficult battles which she found exciting. Unfortunately, she had chosen a battle too difficult last time. It was pretty simple in the beginning. The war had been in a stalemate for years which annoyed Aziel greatly. One day, she had heard that demon activities were increasing at the border of a fortress in the abysses. She had jumped on the occasion to request the command of the fortress, believing to pass an exciting moment while hunting demons. Who would have thought that the demons would have launched a major offensive against the hyperions as soon as she had taken command of the fortress?

That time, she had found herself against three demonic legions while she had possessed barely ten thousand soldiers. One demonic legions was comprised of 1000 000 demons and she had been against three whole legions. What could she have done? It had been a slaughter. All her tricks and tactics had been worth nothing against such a crushing force. After only few hours of battle, she had been on the verge of death. Thus, gathering all the magic she had have left, Aziel had performed a dangerous move. She had attacked the fabric of space itself to create a spatial rift. Spatial rift was like teleportation portal but were much less stable. No one controlled its destination and the user could appear anywhere in the universe, if the user appeared at all. She had been lucky to teleport alive in a remote planet. She tried to contact someone with telepathy, anyone she knew, but failed. Telepathy didn’t work if the target was too far away which indicated that she was far away from home. Aziel wasn’t depressed though. She had known far worse situation like when she had been lost in enemy territory for years and had to slaughter her way to a friendly territory. That had been very dangerous but this time was different. She had lost her pursuer and was not in mortal danger anymore.

She stood up while stretching her muscles. Observing her surroundings, she only found mountains covered with thick forests. It was nighttime, she could see countless stars in the sky accompanying two moons, a yellow one and a violet one. The scenery was beautiful but Aziel wasn’t moved by it. She was entirely focused studying the starry sky while trying to find a constellation she knew. Unfortunately, she found nothing.  She was lost who knows where. Pondering a little, she tried to figure out what to do next. One way or another, she needed to find a way home but it was not a priority. A new world had just opened to her. Why would she need to go back home in a hurry? It’s not like she was indispensable to the army. The wars lasted for millions of years and would probably last forever without winner.

“Let’s considered that like a leave then. I will just stroll around for some time before returning home.” She thought while showing a radiant smile. Apparently, she didn’t consider her little misadventure like a bad thing. If she was not killed, Aziel as a hyperion would never die. She had lived for a very, very long time and had already seen everything she believed interesting. Hundreds, thousands, millions of years had passed before her eyes as she became more and more bored. A simple mortal who could barely pass a hundred years would never understand the effect of boredom. It was as if her mind was decaying slowly as the time passed. If one looked closer, one could even see a hint of madness in her eyes. She wanted to experience something interesting, anything which could relieve her boredom.

It was because of that she had become fond of gaming several million years ago. What the best way to not be bored? It was doing a game of course. And what was the best game ever? It was a game of life and death when your life was on the line every second. Therefore, she joined the army. Once in the army, she fought till her heart’s content while climbing the rank slowly but surely. In the end, she became a general. For her it was just a game. Unfortunately, time was merciless. As the time passed, even killing enemies wasn’t interesting anymore. Who would have thought that she would be teleported in a foreign world totally unknow to her? For Aziel, the unknown was synonym of wonderful. Suddenly, she was in high spirit.
