Chapter 1 - Vat Tank

Chapter 1 - Vat Tank

"Ik rime ik'fa Laikksha Tav'teme"

What? What is that sound. Is someone talking to me? My eyes are shut tight and the weight of a thousand tons are over them. I tried speaking but now that I am gathering some semblance of my surrounding and control of my consciousness I am encased inside some sort of liquid.

Uhg how I hate that feeling of oil in my palms and now this. I got something that feels very much like it all over my body. Can't open my eyes, cant move a muscle. What is that voice I continue to hear again.

"Ik rime am Laruksha Tav're. Apologies, I know your senses are dulled at the moment. I just administered the speech syrum into your vat container. This should allow you to understand what I am saying now."

"ugh mah…" I continued to rumble as I was trying to speak. But that femine voice just clarified it for me. I am definitely inside of something. What it is, I don't like it.

What am I doing here I was just at the Universities campus offices getting my certification papers stamps, acknowledging my final internship at Lux Enterprises. That would qualify me to start working on the first set of robotics enhancements on mining rovers currently orbiting the belt.

The gig is going to be a one in a lifetime opportunity for my family and I. I can finally pay back my father's debt and help aliviate the burden from the loans I took out for school.

"Hi, in a few moments I will administer a few more syrums into the vat. These should help you recover some muscle control and allow you to take in the sights of your new home."

Ahh finally I can start moving my fingers and eyes again. Wait did she just say new home.

With this new realization I started to fumble and shake. Where are these people taking me and why am I trapped in some sort of human sized oil tank!

"Calm down. You are safe. They're some things I need to tell you before we can fully re-activate your motor functions. There has been some investment in your recovery and you also need to get aclimated to the changes done to your body."

What is this person telling me and why can't I speak. I willed parts of my eyes open. The burning ray of light hitting my retinas caused me to flinch my brain processed all of the new incoming data.

"You are doing well. Most serfs I've seen come across this ship take a few weeks. Before they open their eyes and start processing information. I'll move you to the next containment area to start the de-vacturization process. It will be painless and it will allows us to speak. There are a some new important facts you need to learn about your new life while we get there."

I sensed that what ever object I was encased in was starting to move as I felt my back slowly grace the back side of it. The lady called it a vat earlier. I need to see what is happening around me so I can get out of this place once she get me out of this chamber.

My eyes slowly attempted another go at opening. This time around the rays of light didn't perturb me as much. While getting to my senses I saw strands of metallic tubing around me. There was one specially emanating from my mouth as if I was being force fedding me something. My skin was a light dark tone with weird ports where the tubing wires were eminating from. Tracing the tubes they either led back to the top of the vat chamber or the bottom.

I've never seen the type of ports back in university. All in all making that much more worried of where I was and why they have me here.

"As the bot slides your vat chamber to the next containment area. I will run a few diagnostics and let you know where you are."

"Again don't know how much you've caught of what I've said so far but this process needs to happen quickly since the captain of the ship isn't patient and likes to have all of this newly fashioned serfs active and working as soon as possible."

Dang I missed some of what she was telling me. Why don't they just wait until they get me out of this thing so I can regain full control of my senses. Being trapped in here and only have control of my eyes and fingers doesn't help much with the frustration.

"You have been rescued along with a sizable group of the habitants of your planet. VVII-8721829 has been attacked and syphoned by a mercenary group called The Rakkichi Marauders."

"They have been successfully repelled by our High Lord Heymar Lo'Renki of the Principality House of Jenkin. Unfortunately, since your planet is in the farthest corners of the domain that the principality is attached to. We received word too late to be effective before the World Engine that the Marauders used syphoned most of your world."

"I am here to extend my condolences to you and congratulate you on becoming a serf in the principality. You're payment will be alife of survitude in thanks to the High Lord for saving your people. Everyone else that has been rescued from the demise of your world are in similar transport ships like this one heading to the capital to be auctioned off and be placed to serve."

Is this person serious! She is playing this off as if this doing a great service to me. A life of servitude what of this nonsense she is speaking off. I am going to need to clarify what it means to be this 'serf'.

Minutes later we finally arrived at this larger area where a few other vats similar to my own where beign inspected by similar looking people.

Wait. These people aren't even people at all. In the hasy ness of it all I overlooked some details.

This Laruksha looked human, except she has retracted earlobes and a shorten nose. The dark purple tone of her hair gave it a shiny glistening look but then pretty much everything else about her looked human.

The bot deposited my vat chamber into a socket where it could drain all of the clear oil substance that enveloped me. Slowly the fluid drained out of the chamber and dripped off me and I was suspended by some sort of field that didn't allow gravity to completely take me and drop straight into the shiny clean bottom of the chamber. Although there wasn't much space for my torso to go beign that the device cacooning me was no bigger than the full extent of my body.

The vat chamber's glass started to materialize letting me breath with my nose for the first time. I slowly stood up as what ever has gravity field slowly let me down and settle on my own accord. Looking up I saw this figure of a female humanoid in a white skin tight suit starring at me. It was Laruksha giving me a big smile, extending her arm while holding onto some sort of tablet on the other ushering me out on to the rooms cold floor and into a sleek metallic seat a couple of feet away.
