Explosions rocked the ship. I could hear shouts, orders, and people running.
The sound of grinding metal and groaning support beams ring out around me.
My head pounded against my skull, the incessant sensation of stabbing needles everywhere in my body made my chest heave.
A thick smell of sulfur filled the air. My vision was hazy, and all my senses were dulled.. but I knew I just threw my lunch up.
From the sound of explosions and the shield generator struggling to keep up with the missile barrage I doubt this ship could hold up for much longer. The Mole was the name of the ship. A mere scavenge mission they said..
I stumble down the hallway, glancing left and right occasionally. I held my gut tightly. I guess I hit my head pretty hard.
Then the intercom sparked to life.
"This is Captain Marshall. Fracture engines are reving up. Seek a jump station immediately."
I felt my body tense. I could barely see, but I knew where I was going.. kinda.
"the fuck.. " I mumbled, stumbling down the barracks hallway.
The door was slightly pried open, but it seemed jammed.
I wiped the spit off my lip as another missle struck the shield, rocking the hull.
I stumble over, pushing one side of the door as far as I could. It barely gave me enough room to slip through.
I groaned, cutting my chest on the sharpened steel of the damaged door.
The intercom sparked to life again..

I stumble into a bunk and crawl into the bottom bed. I tie a blanket around myself, and then to the structure of the bed. The bedframe was welded to the ship.. for some reason.
4
Another impact.. They were getting more frequent. Whatever was out there.. be it pirate, defense platform, or Reaper.. it was getting closer.
3
A dull hum filled the ship. I felt my hazy vision begin fading
2
Two consecutive slams resound through the empty halls of the ship. I could hear alarms blarring as one of the missles got through point defense and shields..
1
My head slammed into the pillow with resounding speed.. enough speed to make me lose consciousness as I listen to the roaring of the fracture drive.

A loud buzzing fills my ears as I shutter awake. I can hear somebody talking not too far from me.
My entire body aches as I try to adjust my body.
"Looks like someone's finally awake~." A feminine voice says directly next to my ear.
"fucks sake.. " I adjust my chest with a slight groan. Only one girl would be rude enough to be this loud.. Melissa.
She was a technician alongside me, and the girl I had to share a bunk with. Unconventional, sure. Space was limited, we made due.
"Oh, did you not get enough sleep during the jump?" She says in her snarky attitude.
"enough sleep..?" I open an eye, immediately barraged by bright LEDs. "that wasn't sleep.."
"Oh hush!" She slapped my arm. "You're lucky to be alive right now!" She was scolding me.. for some reason.
I shift my one open eye to the rather cute blue eyed girl next to me. "ugh.. got it.. " I mumbled quietly. Everything hurt, like a dull ache.
She might of been cute, but she was a blue eyed demon. Her short height and long brown hair was a facade.. she was really a rude little demon.
"Hmph! Is that all you have to say? I'm the one who found you!"
"thanks." I responded with a mumble.
she had a smug look on her face. "Now for the good news.. " I closed my eye, trying to get a breather. "We escaped.. somewhere."
Somewhere? Just somewhere? I open an eyebrow and raise an eyebrow. "Where are we..?"
She cleared her throat, obviously expecting this question. "Well the eggheads are working on it.. B-but!"
so we're lost in space.
"They said we landed in a system somewhere in known space.. just not near a relay or transmitter.."
Of fucking course.
"..And we landed in a binary system! It's two blackholes! The eggheads said they thought they detected a space station or something in the accretion disk of one of the giants.."
I open both eyes and let the clean white room flash bang myself. "How do you lose a space station..?"
She opened her mouth to say something. She seemed to think for a second before she just shrugged, and glanced around. ".. maybe the blackhole was disrupting signals.. they thought they detected human made structures!"
I glance over at her quickly, despite my pain. "Human made..?" I ask, just checking.
"Yeah, they said the object or station was emitting a quiet signal until we jumped into system.. we just can't find it now."
Something wasn't adding up, and my brain felt fuzzy still from the jump.
"How is it.. still standing? It must be ravaged by radiation that close.. " I mumbled quietly.
She seemed a little caught off guard. "I-if it's a station, I'm sure they would have some sort of countermeasure"
I glance over at the porthole. I could see the accretion disk from here..
