Enter Hikarya Rabten

Fall of Year 2133,

Today is the most important day of the year, it is the day when many aspirants start their journey from their homes, their cities and from their families to travel miles to the Federation capital to take the exam in their respective Federation capital’s Training and Research facility. World after being torn apart in five powerful federations, each Federation capital had their own Training and Researching facility. The journey takes more or less than a day to travel as the numbers of the aspirants are huge. The system to travel is to apply for a special “High Speed Passenger Convoy”, which comes to the nearest sub-division cities. The body of these “Convoys” look alike to the streamlined body of the fishes. The structure of the Convoy is separated into four areas one above another, which stretch horizontally to around a hundred meters and a height of twenty storey building (around sixty meters). The outer shell of the convoy is made of specific material which is being synthesized recently which enables the convoys to reach a speed of Mach 10. The material is a special substance made directly out of the iron ore and combined with other hard metals and a radioactive element to stabilize the synthesis, the material which is thus produced is extremely light, strong and highly resistant to heat, dust or water disturbances during flight. Systems which are enabled in the convoy vary to each level. The facilities like food and other provisions are based on quality where the best grade is delivered to the top level and the next grade to the next level and so on. The division is done by the amount of money that was poured into system and to become a part of the top level an exceptional family background and money is required. The Convoys depart on station called as “The docking Area”. It is somewhat like the airport but the sections like hanger doesn’t exist. There are gates via which the passengers come to the platform. The gates for both the High speed and the Regular Convoys are same. The “Docking Area” is completely stretched out horizontally and there are four sections vertically for the each levels of the convoy. There are gates that opens up to the platform of the lowest sections and underneath every gate there are docking systems installed. Once the convoys are completely filled with their passengers the convoys are then transmitted with the next location of the sub-division city’s docking area.

In the Sub-Division of the North Tibetan district Convoy Docking Area, at Gate No. 1, few yards away from the entrance to the High Speed Passenger Convoy:

A boy of six feet frame and very lean, standing in the queue waiting to get past the gate to reach the flaps of the High speed convoy. He seemed to pretty much tense and sweating, mostly could be reasoned out as he was wearing a shirt with a sleeveless sweater and to top it off, a trench coat. The pants were formal and shoes were worn out at the corners but it still looked fine in him. He might have chosen an appearance that would appeal most of his handsomeness. But the reason for being that much of a sweat ball must have been another reason.

“Hey, boy what are you doing here? The time for the passengers to assemble for the convoy is already over, boy. Leave this area immediately and proceed back to your home.” The guard looked into his eyes when he said that. He didn’t display any kind of emotional attention while speaking neither he sympathized on his situation. He simply cared for the job to be done in a correct way and upheld the laws for entering the convoys to its core.

“But, sir I was late for few minutes. You could do all the necessary identity check to confirm that I have applied for the High Speed Passenger Convoy. “

“You…sir, don’t know what you are dealing with! Please step aside and make way for the rest of the passengers to catch their regular convoy. And please make sure that you don’t return here any time soon.” He said with much greater force time. He tried to intimidate him as to leave the area.

“Well, sir you definitely don’t know who I’m. My name is Hikarya Rabten, and I’m going become an EXION.” He almost made it sound like it was an epic announcement.

“Well, Hikarya…. I have never heard this name before. Huh, you made it sound like epic but you are nothing third rate turd. Go back to your hole from where you came out off. Becoming an EXION is not your cup of tea.”

In the meantime the guard started to take the id proof of the passengers who are accessing to the regular convoys and the speakers that are placed on the corners of the pillar started to make sound, update was being made about the passenger convoy.

‘The High Speed Passenger Convoy will be leaving in about a minute, passengers are asked to settle down to their respective seats. And no passengers are to be allowed to enter any sections now. The flaps will be closed in another thirty seconds. Thank you.’

Hikarya saw the huge flap of the Convoy which was being lifted up, as the guard was checking the people who were appearing for their confirmation of their id proof. He thought is “that’s it”. He saw one of the passengers who was going to pass for the gate; he didn’t think anything and just dashed through the gate. He found the guard screaming at him and pulling the gun out.

“Is he really gonna shoot! Well whatever I gave them time to do it in the proper way, they didn’t take it seriously, their fault. Well, who’s going onboard? I’m, that’s who it gonna be.”

As he dashed he towards the flap, he heard the bullet whiz past against him. He crouched taking his trench coat over his head as an act to protect himself against the bullets. The distance between the ground and the flap increases with every step he takes.

He turned back to look if the bullets stopped shooting. He was more than surprised when he saw that the guard pulled down his gun and was looking at him as he was dashing away to the flap. He made a faint smile, and went with his full speed to jump the flap.

He stood up on the closing flap and saw the guard as strong wind blew from his west giving a strong impression of his six feet lean stature. His trench coat gently blew sideways and his hair messed up by the wind, the guard couldn’t see his face but was able to see his eyes, eyes that he could not forget for his rest of his life. It was not so special, or else he could have noticed when he speaking, but, now it was completely overwhelming…, the eyes that were filled with determination.

-------------------------

15 days ago before the event. In a Tibetan mountain city of ”Ashkar”, north east of the Asian Federation,

Towards the eastern gate of the town, a shabby place full of people strolling down the streets, drinking, hooking up with prostitutes, drunkards getting thrown out of the bars and thieves stealing. In this marketplace full of buzz and colors, people come to escape from the world of conflicts and complete terror. After the division, economic instability and transition of the power contributed a lot towards the provisional depletions and a lot of problems among the community living among the hills. Food is scarce and the marketplace is one of the least places that one would dare to come. Those who have the money do not want to spend and those who don’t want to spend. A complete loop of misery that is unconditional to any era.

The marketplace of the town called “The Trine Faced”, because at the center market it has somewhat inverted triangular plaza which divides the market as three distinct places of the markets for each socio-economic class. The northwest for the royalty and all those on power and money, the northeast for the people who lie on the middle of everything and the bottom of the plaza is for the people who are at the bottom of the food chain; the poor and all those that are not even considered to be even in the society.

At the bottom of the plaza, the lanes twist and turn in a very unusual manner creating a huge maze like structures of slums. The alleys of these lanes which connect lead to almost the suburb of the city. The houses of these places are completely wrecked and are mostly of one room. It is not a very good place of hygiene, but for the people living in these areas do not have the time to care about these stuffs.

And in one these kinds of house Hikarya wakes up as it was the time for him to do his job and while studying late night in the “Basic School” for completing the assignments that were given to him, didn’t help much in waking up earlier for the job. During his early age he knew he had to the stuffs that were not meant to be done by him. He has a good-for-nothing brother, who rolls his life on the dice and throws himself completely to the intoxicants. His life was nothing but the lives of all those people that had fallen deep towards the depression and depravity.

As he woke up looking towards of the window or to be precisely said it was a broken piece of wood hanging loosely against the nail that had to be nailed to cover their private scenery of their lives. Beside his pillow there was a “Notemker1” where it was written that,

‘Bro, I need cash. I am riding really low on it so please make an exception for this month’s rents and all the debts. Anyway remember today is your birthday so I’ll treat you very well and I also need a treat. Congratulations on turning as an adult.

Happy 18th birthday,

Your loving brother’

“Yeah, you are the one who gets to boss down everything that you require. Do you even consider that I run the whole family or to be precise our stomachs with paying almost half my money onto your debts and remaining half would again be divided and the half would go to the rents and only the rest be supplied to you again so that you can pile up the debts in our heads.”, Hikarya thought it all in his head. He really longed for affection of a guardian or somebody that could understand him or supported him in his path of his dream. He always dreamed that going out of this pathetic place and becoming one of the EXIONS and change his fate for rest of his lives.

He took out his feet out his fur blanket which is very common here, and slowly rubbing his eyes looked at the calendar to make sure that it was his birthday so that he will not be deceived into buying his brother a treat. Money is a precious commodity that transcends every generation no matter whatever may be the situation is. It is dead on right, it was indeed his birthday. He took out his coat and saw the time.

“God, i wish that the fat bastard wouldn’t be ass kissing Mr. Goldinier.” Hikarya stood up to the pad to the brush his teeth and get all necessary wash to go the work. His six feet tall frame is completely delusion by his lean and weak frame of his body. Apart from that he had quite a good looking charms and an irresistible smile that is evident to all the peoples living in these mountains.

The time for the exams of becoming an EXION are knocking at the flap. So, flattering someone to squeeze every last drop of help one could get is very common. The exams are not at all easy. The tests conducted in three levels. First to reach the optimum level of each test only then one could be considered to appear for the next tests. The tests challenges a person to completely tear down the mentality of being a human, it completely exposes the nightmares possessed by a person into the limelight. Fear would be an understatement for the like of these.

As Hikarya walked out of the maze like alleys, he made his way to the center of the plaza to go to the shabby store which is northwest of the “The Trine Faced”. He made just in the nick of time as Mr. Goldinier does not like anybody coming late. The board outside read boldly, “For those who love Pawn and Antiquities”. Not a very great name for a shop but, that is it. The shop had a look of ancient kinds of structures that you could find easily in your notemker1, the pillars of the shop are coated with wood and derivatives of plastic which looks as well as gives the same feel of the woods. Except those pillars these derivatives are not anywhere in the shop, rest is completely made of the woods. It gives the shop an old husky look. But, this was all on the outside. The real show begins in the inside of the store.

The moment when Hikarya entered the store he heard some commotion going on the nearby bar. But, interestingly when two men were just passing by the store, he happened to eavesdrop some of the mentions of the person.

“Hey, dude that guy is being heavily thrashed by the owners.”

“I feel sorry for the guy. But, I did win by the way. And was your bet about the lunch and booze ‘today’?”

“To the hell with you as if I’m gonna…”

And it went on, and at that moment Mr. Goldinier came and asked,

“Hey ‘duck’ where are you looking at?”

”I wasn’t looking anywhere. Great day to start our work with all the bustling here, one could really help some peace in these snowy mountains.”

“Well these are usual matters,” He paid no heed to the sounds or to the commotion outside. As if he was completely oblivion to the situation.

But, for some reason Hikarya really found something familiar in the commotion, a voice. He cannot, but to just keep thinking about the voice.

“Ah! Hikarya let me introduce a new ‘duck‘ in the market, Harry Royalhart. His family came from Western Pacific Federation during the time of that entire Singularity event. ”

“Hello, my name is Harry. You can just call me Harry. Well…, yeah it would be great working with you.” He was undoubtedly nervous.

“Yeah it will be.”

“So enough with the pleasantries, let the old man show you how to work.”

Mr. Goldinier went on to show Harry how to and where to work , but Hikarya was still working on memory to remember the voice.

“It was indeed familiar.”
