Hope you like the music to this chapter. Have fun reading.
One of the best sounds a general can hear is the sound of soldiers moving in almost perfect unison. Everyone steps using their might, in perfect rhythm. As my units slowly move into position on the left side of the forest. We see the enemy tents, just at the horizon. Approximately 3600m away, they saw us, or at least their scouts found us. Their army is already deployed, right in front of their tents.
"General Makinba, how far away should we position our self? I think that 1000m should be enough space to react if they start Attacking. You know as well as me, that they are not going to attack." says my vice general Jamluzlull. "We should move up to 750m, since we already know that they don't have any siege weapons. Let the knights stay in the back, it would be best if they could stay hidden until our forces collide. Also I want you, to take command over them, take my elite soldiers with you. They should be able to keep you safe and help you push even faster. You shall purge the enemy commander from this plane." I say to my dear friend Jamluzlull.
As we slowly Marched right into our destination, we hear some more rumbling for the first time in a while. A young scout rides our way as fast as his steed can transport him. "General Sir, one of the prisoners, told us something unbelievable. He said that trees started to move, they slowly moved away from the fire, attacked some of his man. They even ripped them to pieces, stomped on some of them, like they are stomping tomatoes. I don't know if I should believe him or not. He seems to be the captain who was responsible for the ambush. He was so white, he looked like he went through hell and back." said one of the scouts.
"How many saw the trees moving around? " asked Jamluzlull. He always knows what to ask, perfect right hand man if I may say so. "Vice general Jamluzlull, Sir only the captain saw the trees moving and killing his people, he almost got squashed like a flounder he said, just barely escaped with his life. It also seems like he was the last one, to come out of the forest." I looked the scout in the eyes. “Ok, good work soldier, you are dismissed, go back to your post and alert me if anything happens near the forest.” The scout then dismissed himself and rode back to his unit, to continue his work.
"So, what do you think about it, do you think that the enemy captain is saying the truth? Or is he just using this chance to disturb our soldiers? I never heard of trees who can move around, maybe he is talking about the tree loving tribe with long ears. What was their name again? Something strange, I also heard that they don’t eat any meat. Can you believe it, no fucking meat, I would get crazy without some beef from time to time." I ask Jamluzlull while looking over the upcoming battlefield.
It seems like we are going to fight uphill against them. Should we change the venue? If we march past them and directly in the direction of their capital. Maybe we can bait them to attack us. It would be more favorable if they move out to attack us. As I was thinking what to do, Jamluzlull stops.
"I think the tree huggers are called elves, I never saw them but they should be dangerous. We don't know where they live their life. Since we never heard from scouts that some of the elves got seen here in the vicinity. From what I heard, they don't look like trees. Their skin should look like whitened gold. Really, they are not eating any meat? What the hell are these guys even eating? I would die from hunger if I couldn’t eat meat at least once every month. I think that the enemy captain was lying, he just wants us to direct our attention to our back. Instead of concentrating to the front. " he said while grunting out loud.
"Should we bait the enemy, by marching past them?" I asked him. "No, even if we are fighting uphill. We should be able to annihilate them pretty easily. We outnumber them completely. They don't even have a standing army, just a bunch of mercenaries, merchants and farmers who wants to protect their land, I mean our land." he slowly showed me his vicious smile. As time went on, we managed to position ourselves, I let the soldiers rest for a while, since they need the energy to climb the hill. After a half an hour of rest I asked all my unit commanders to me.
“Archers to the front, spear units right behind, sword soldiers close behind them. Slowly advance, Archers be ready to rush in position to shoot the enemy, they are on an hill so they have longer range than us. You should know how close you need to be. Shoot the enemy archers first, while our sword and spear units push forward with shields above the head, to protect us from the arrows which are going to get fired soon. One spear unit needs to stay behind, in case of a surprise attack from the enemy knights. Our knights are going to enter the fray, after the battle has started. Flanking the enemy, and splitting off right before the impact. One group strives for the enemy general, the other attacks the archers from the side. Archer units should start attacking the opposite flank of the enemy, where none of our units are present. We have to prevent casualties as much as possible.” As I said to all the unit commanders who are currently surrounding me.
All of them seem eager to attack and conquer. They also seem rested, that’s good, we need all the strength we can get. Should we have asked for engineers from the capital? We are going to need them soon, if the walls are too high to climb and the enemy too many to count. Catapults would be good to take down the enemy walls or gates. They are great, can fire from a large distance and are accurate enough to get the walls down. Worst case scenario, we destroy all the buildings behind the towers.

“Do what you can guys, I have my utmost confidence in my commanders. I choose you and I know what you are capable of. Just keep a calm composed heart and finish off the enemy in front of ya. Go out and bring us the victory. For the Nation of Luigia, for me and your families.”
“YES SIR, WE WILL GO OUT AND CONQUER.” All of them yelled together at the top of their lungs.
With that the battle began, while I watched from afar right next to my trusted friend and longtime comrade Hidalgo. A pitch black stallion, trained by me for a long time. He feared loud noises in the beginning, it was really hard to keep him calm in the battles we fought. Feared fire and even water if he couldn’t see the bottom of it. But slowly and surely I managed to get him accustomed to that. Never am I going to ride to war without him, Hidalgo. As I slowly brush his black mane, he looks up to me and shows his determination with his eyes.
----------------------------------------
PoV one tree in the forest, right after the fire started spreading so some hours ago.
Our young lord is still slow to react to his surroundings, he finally grow up and started to converse with us. The only problem is, that he woke up because of external influences, just because some pink creatures started a fire in the forest. He should have at least 5 more decades to slumber and nurture his might. Sadly he awoke earlier and now he has to learn from the surroundings himself.
He still seems small, how is he going to get the strength to oppose the ones who are our enemies? Does he know that ents have an ability to change their appearance? What should I do, if he doesn’t know it, I can’t really help him use his abilities. “My Lord, we should get out faster, the fire is catching up to us. Does my Lord know of his ability? The ability to change your appearance.” I said while looking into his direction.
“My brother, I don’t know of that ability, but that is not so important right now. I agree, we should get going.” he said while moving forward as rapidly as he can. Huh, what is that thing there, oh it is one of the pink creatures, what were they called again. Well it doesn’t matter, as long as it is not hindering my lords way, I will not care.
The pink creature looks at my lord and my brothers with an astonished and frightened look. Maybe it is its first time to see trees moving around so fast. What is it holding in its limbs? It seems to be a long stick with a silver shine at the top. The silver part seems to be pretty sharp. Is that wood? Is that wood it used to make the stick? It is still too far away, but I will get it. I have to see what sort of weapon it is using.
As I ran even faster, I took a roundabout way to get to the pink creature. As I was standing right behind it, I used my branches to whiplash it to the ground. It couldn’t even fathom what hit it, a red liquid oozed out of it into every direction. Some of it splattered onto me, smelled horrible, like one of the things below the ground, the hard things. Well let see what sort of thing they carried with them.
Holy Yggdrasil, these creatures are using my brethren to us as weapons. It doesn’t seem like a dead tree, it seems like one of the big trees. I need to get to them and show them that trees are the nobles of creatures. “My brother, why did you attack this creature?” asked my Lord with a concerned look in his face.
“My Lord, these things are killing our brothers to make weapons, they are not using the dead trees like the elves. These monsters are killing us, just to make weapons. I can’t contain my anger my lord, let us go after them and destroy them.” I said with a loud rumbling voice.
“Ok brother, we will destroy them, are these also the ones who spread fire to our jungle?” he asked while looking at the corps below my branches. They should be the creatures to start the fire. “Yes my lord, shall I search for more creatures to still my revenge?” I asked while my sight wandered around the area to look at the next target. Right at that moment I saw 3 more pink creatures.
“My lord, on that side are 3 more creatures, shall I go after them?” I said while I was slowly moving in that direction. “Let us get them.” he said and started running to them. He got there first, used his mighty root to squash one of them. While I got the second one, I grabbed the creature on it limbs with my branches. It screamed in an strange language, looked like it is pleading with all his might. But it was too late, this was also had one of my brethren as an weapon, pretty fresh oak, still a young one at that. It used the oak in a strange way, and binded the two ends of the bend branch with a thin string. It also had lots of small twigs with a sharp point in a leather bag. These monsters are really using our brethren to create weapons.
The last one scrambled, left all its weapons and ran, faster than we could reach it. While we were dismissing the creatures, the fire almost catched up to us. We have to keep moving, can’t get catched by fire to turn into charcoal.
“Brothers!, we need to do something so that the fire can’t annihilate our home the forest. How can we stop the fire from spreading even more?” asked our Lord while looking exhausted. It is not even 3 hours since he awoke from his slumber. He still didn’t get the rest he deserves. “My Lord, we need water, but that is hard to come by here at this side of the forest. The only creek we have near the forest is the one on the bottom side of the forest. Right below the forest flows a small creek, but the fire is between us right now.” what could we do?
When does a fire grow? How does it jump from tree to tree? Maybe we have to do that.
What will the tree say to his Lord? Will they manage to still the fire? Will the creature get away? Is the army of Luigia strong enough to climb the hill? Is Silent Hill a good game? This and everything else could happen in the next chapter of Ent of Pyromancy.
