It's interesting how life seems to find a way, especially around the turmoil of destruction. How when after the fires stop burning that the forest is teeming with new life despite everything that just happened. Mankind has been put through its paces on Earth more than once when the species has been a part of extinction level events and has had to restart from the ashes like a Phoenix. To only imagine all the times it reached technological ages only to be smashed back down into a stone age.
This time was different though. Mankind once again had reached new levels of technology and science. Disease was all but gone and we had started the early colonization of the rest of our Sol system. So naturally it was time for the universe to throw us a curveball.
A comet the size of a small moon was hurtling at us with a seemingly intelligent trajectory. All space imaging showed it was indeed a rock but similarities stopped there. We sent probe after probe to collect samples but they all lost contact within thousands of miles of its location like it was giving off its own EMF interfering with the equipment. We tried everything to divert it, blow it up, anything. To keep it from destroying Earth, it was all useless.
During the final day before impact the comet slowed and we finally decoded part of a signal coming from it. "Save". The impact site was expected to be what was once called the US Midwest. Emergency operations attempted to move over hundreds of millions of people out of a huge area spanning nearly 25 percent of the country and the surrounding area. The hope was that emergency facilities overseas might survive the blast. A unified human wish went out worldwide in hopes that Earth would at least survive to grow human life once again.
The Comet had other plans for us though. By the time it entered Earth’s upper atmosphere it lost about half its size and slowed down to a fraction of its original speed. It appeared to be attempting an emergency landing. Regardless, its trajectory was still on point but the speed and mass of the object was still too much for it not to make a destructive entrance. Billions watched as the giant ball of fire came down through the air.
Then it made contact, everything and everyone was incinerated within several hundred miles of impact, destroying the entire Midwest and torching the majority of the eastern seaboard. Hundreds of millions died instantly and many more died only hours later as the air became poisonous and unbreathable across most of North America. A shockwave was felt worldwide as well, toppling every major city and wreaking havoc on most ecosystems.
Those who were left were thrown into a world of chaos and anarchy. Communications were knocked out completely and most electronics stopped working due to the EMF anomalies happening. Those who attempted to reassemble governments or peace operations were squashed immediately by marauders and those compelled by the chaos of mobs and more.
Humanity continued this way for several years as the dust settled worldwide. During that time everything changed about the environment. The comet was doing something unexplainable to everything in the environment; organic and non-organic alike. In the deepest parts of the oceans, across the poles, hottest deserts and thickest jungles it all changed. Not just from death and destruction. Something was changing at a deeper level. The genetic structure of biological lifeforms were changing and many non organic materials were responding to these changes and seemed to be sharing information with these corresponding wavelengths. Most animals changed in size, shape, and attitude; and started showing strange abilities like breathing fire, digging through solid rock like it was clay and so many other supernatural occurrences.

It didn't stop with just animals as humans started showing supernatural abilities after describing the world around them as seeming to talk to them.
A new age was coming, an evolution of humans on an extreme level…for those who survived the changes. Many died from energy poisoning, their bodies unable to handle the flow of new energy through them. If their bodies didn't wither from the energy poisoning their minds would.
The Enoma were what we called them. Shadows of the humans they once were,savages who lost all of their humanity but with a massive boost to their physical capabilities. Humanity lost even more to the Enoma attacks as they raided the last holdouts on American soil. The Americas saw the loss of thousands daily to a combination of these things and with the loss of communications and electrical in general, nobody was in a position to escape or help those in need.
In the darkest of days when most had lost hope. A group of 13 individuals wielding a unique power; the ability to control raw energy from the Ether around them, appeared. They seemed to have come from all over the world and found each other, in an attempt to save what was left of humanity.
They drove the Enoma into the dead lands of Eastern America behind The Black Wall and took the survivors across the Atlantic to the New European coast.
Most of Western Europe had sunk into the Atlantic from the devastation of the blast and the subsequent tsunamis that ravaged the coast for several years. The coast now sat within what was previously Austria and the Mediterranean had expanded miles out. With most of Northern Africa seeing similar damage as well at its shoreline as they moved hundreds of miles east.
The rescued survivors from the Americas were brought back with the group to a new settlement built from what was once a city called Prague. This group called themselves the Endo. They were humanity's strength, a group that could unite what was left to build a bright future. Many were now gathered here and used the amazing gifts they had developed to grow the humble settlement quickly. What started with a few thousand quickly took on refugees from all over and grew to hundreds of thousands seemingly overnight.
The Endo acted quickly bringing in more and establishing a safe place for all. One city grew to two, then three and eventually after 20 years,13 city-states were established. The United city-states of Unatees a new bastion of hope for mankind. The 13 states were named after the 13 original members of the Endo by the people who lived there.
They became a unique military force dedicated to protecting humanity worldwide and built the Lighthouse. A giant tower in the Atlantic miles offshore from the Unatees mainland. It was a beacon of hope and a safeguard for them to watch the Black Wall to guarantee that the Enoma could never reach human lives again.
Since the formation of this utopia, we have used our new found freedom to study this new world and the abilities it has given us. As it turns out, these powers were heavily intertwined with genetic markers in our bodies which had evolved from the tampering of the comet. Abilities could be passed down to children while also changing and evolving further through generations.
Additionally in the last 300 or so years we mastered Mutations; the science to modify one's abilities safely. This development saw the founding of these Academies in every State in Unatees. Where young children could have a place to safely learn to use their abilities and grow to be successful members of our great nation.
"With that I'd like to officially welcome all of you first years to Handis Academy". Principal Chenik stretched her arms out in greeting with a prideful look on her face. The students clapped and a few started to yell with pride in their voice.
Of course Koro had heard all of this before, they all had. The story of the beginning and the rise of the Endo. Early Development drilled these lessons and the entire basis for academics into you by the age of 12 to prepare you for Academy and today was that day. The real beginning of Koro's life, the place where he'd grow into a force to be reckoned with. The place where he could fully recognize his dream of one day also being a member of the Endo.
