The Happiest Family

The Happiest Family

On a throne, a man is sitting with a sword lodged into his chest. The man grabs the sword by its handle and takes it out of his chest.

- Another failure. says the man while looking at the sword that is dyed in the red color of his blood

The man throws the sword on the ground and a green fire lights up on the wound that the sword created. As soon as the green flame started coming out of the wound, that same wound also started closing by itself. The man puts his hand on the now completely closed wound

- Not even a scar. he says

He sighs, puts his elbow on the arm of the chair, and tilts his head to the side to rest it on his fist. In front of him, on the ground, countless bodies of people are lying on the ground that is dyed red in the color of their blood

- Why can't I die? says the man

[200 000 years ago in a small village]

*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*

- What's all this noise? says a man half asleep in his bed

- Can you go check? asks his wife who is sitting down on their bed with a baby in her arms

- He woke up? asks the man when he sees his wife sitting down with the baby in her arms

- He didn't. she answered. But I think that he might've with all the knocking

The man gets up

- This is not the first time they knocked? he asks as he heads toward the door of their bedroom

His wife simply shakes her head to answer her husband's question

- What the hell is going on? the man mumbles as he gets out of the room

The man walks into the living room and heads for the front door that leads outside. He opens the door but sees nobody

- What the hell? he says while looking around. Who the hell is making jokes at this hou-

He stops talking when he finally looks down.

- Honey? he says while keeping his eyes on whatever it is that caught his attention

- What is it? replies his wife from the room

- You might want to come and see it for yourself. says the husband with his eyes still on what caught his attention

His wife joins him at the door and her eyes widen when she sees what froze her husband

- Who could have done this? she says

In front of them, on the floor, in a basket, was a baby covered in blood. The baby wasn't moving or making any noise. The wife quickly picked up the baby and after putting her finger under his nose, looked at her husband and smiled

- He's breathing. she says with relief

The couple went inside and proceeded to clean the baby

- Seems like the blood isn't his. says the wife while cleaning the baby

- That's good. says the husband after exhaling in relief. So, what do we do with him?

The wife looks at her husband

- Should we? she says with hesitance in her eyes

He sighs

- I am a lumberjack. says the husband. I am not sure that we make enough to provide for another baby

The wife looks down

- You heard what the doctor said, right? asks the wife

- Yeah. replies the husband while looking at his wife with pity and compassion

- I am too fragile. she says while looking at her husband with tears in her eyes. I can't give birth to another child without losing my life in the process

She looks at the child in her hand

- I feel like this child is a gift from the gods. she says with an enormous smile and tears falling down her eyes onto the baby's face

The baby groans after the wife's tear touches his face, however, after groaning, instead of crying, an enormous smile takes shape on his lips. The husband and the wife both chuckle after seeing the beautiful smile on the baby's face

- I guess Enzo is getting a little brother, huh? says the husband with a smile

The wife smiles brightly

- So, what is his name? asks the husband with a smile

- There's nothing that mentions his name in the basket. replies the wife. So, I think that we should name him

- If he doesn't have a name, then I do not see a reason that we shouldn't. says the husband with his hand on the baby's head

- Leonidas. she says with a smile. Leas, for short.

- Well, that was fast. he says after chuckling

- It was the name I was gonna give to our second child. she says with a smile. Together with Enzo's name, the two form the word Enzoleas or Endeleas

She wipes the Leas and brings him into their room. She then put down Leas next to Enzo and the two, while sleeping, grab each other's hand, and both smile. Upon seeing such a beautiful and precious scene, the two parents smile

- What does Endeleas mean? asks the husband to his wife

- Boundless, endless. says the wife. It is the equivalent of many words from our current language but more importantly, it is the equivalent of the word eternal. Just like I hope their bond will always be.

[5 years Later]

Two kids are sparing with each other with wooden swords. One of the kids has brown hair, and brown eyes and is taller than most boys his age. The other one was slightly smaller than the first one in terms of height and instead of the brown hair and eyes that his brother had, he had bright red hair and grey eyes.

- Is that all you can do, huh, Leas?! yells the brown-haired kid as he dashes toward Leas with his sword raised above his head

Leas sighs

- Fine. says Leas with a smirk. Don't forget that you're the one who asked for this, Enzo

As soon as he reaches Leas, Enzo swings his sword down on Leas but Leas makes a simple movement to the side to dodge Enzo's attack and hits Enzo on the head with his wooden sword

- You lose. says Leas calmly

Enzo jumps up

- Damn it! Enzo says loudly. How did you do that!?

- All I did was literally move to the side. replies Leas

- So, what's the score? asks Enzo as he sits down

- I have 47 wins and 40 losses. says Leas while sitting down next to Enzo

- Hey! Don't forget that there are 3 draws between your number of wins and losses! says Enzo loudly

- I didn't forget. says Leas calmly. All I know is that I am in the lead. he finishes with a smirk

- You're lucky that you are my little brother. says Enzo with a smile. Otherwise, I would stop holding back and instead of a conversation, I would be beating your ass.

- I HEARD THAT, ENZO! yells a woman. I ALREADY TOLD YOU TO STOP USING FOUL WORDS, DIDN'T I?!

- SORRY MOM! replies Enzo quickly

- Let's go inside now. says their father who just arrived carrying a multitude of logs

- Dad, you've got to tell me how you're doing this! says Enzo

- I also want to know dad. says Leas

The two boys were asking their father how was he able to carry all of those logs in his hands despite his body. Their father had brown hair and brown eyes just like Enzo and just like Enzo he was tall. However, he was by no means an incredibly muscular man. He had muscles but instead of huge ones, he had defined ones

- You two are too young to learn. says their father while putting the logs down

He takes one log out of the multiple logs he is carrying and throws it up

- WOW! the two boys make when they see their father throw a giant log without any efforts

Their father extends his left hand toward the sky, closes his hand, and puts his index finger out. When the log makes contact with his finger, it splits into two

- HOOOOOOWWWWW?!?!?!?! yells Enzo and Leas at the same time

- Can you stop showing off and come in to eat, Roderick? says their mom

- We're coming, Yvelt. says Roderick with a smile

Yvelt is an incredibly beautiful woman with red hair and blue eyes. She has a height comparable to that of most women and when she looked upon both of her sons with a smile, villagers would call her the goddess of love. Roderick turns and looks at his sons

- Let's go in before she actually gets mad. says Roderick with a smile. Your mom can be really scary when she's mad

- We know. says the two brothers at one and the same time while nodding

Their father rubs their head as the two giggle and the three of them head inside. Once they enter their house, the three clean themselves up and start eating. There might not be another family in the world that his as happy as they are and nobody could have ever imagined that a tragedy was on its way to them. A tragedy that would affect all of their lives, a tragedy that would shape the coming future
