Skirmish 5: A Careful Caster

[ the GOLEM has slain KORG ]

The panel appeared to inform me as I came back from the gate.

What did just happened?

I left to replenish health and buy some items but it seems one of our enemies were taken down while I was away.

He was taken out by the Golem not by my team mate. Are they really that serious in winning? So much to focus hard on destroying the golem and carelessly die in the process.

They must have been really crazy.

My team mate, what was his name again? Greed?

Greed passed me with his health down to 10%. He must have did his best to survive there.

The Chaplain's secondary skill PRAY HEAL is really handy when it comes to critical situations. I mean, it heals back lost health without the need to go back to our gate or with the use of those expensive potions.

Its simply... a precious HEAL.

I can't even imagine myself defending a golem from two enemies without fully relying on that skill. If he has utilized PRAY HEAL perfectly, then respect +10.

He did used PRAY HEAL, right? I doubted as soon as I saw the fading sphere of light situated in a far corner.

PRAY HEAL is a secondary skill and only becomes available upon obtaining the primary, ASPERSION.

Alteast three different Secondary skills are available for every avatar and one can always decide when NOT to pick a specific skill. However, for Chaplains it is very recommended to get PRAY HEAL as early as one could be.

So, did I just saw a trace of ENLIGHTEN?

Welp, there was no scratch in the golem. Am I wrong on my assumption?

Whatever might have happened, I'll let it off for now.

"Focus," I told myself and started taking out pawns.

Rotuel stood far back near their golem. I noticed the change of mood in his face as he saw me. He was beaming with confidence before I left for the gate. Was he mad at his careless teammate? Was it a bad team play?No enemy is worse than an ally that knows no team.

This is why Clash battles are harder than Duels. Cooperation between two or more individual can give a huge advantage, a great disadvantage when there's none.

Now then, while the guy is salty I shall initiate my revenge. Light flickered in the bangles I was wearing and runes started dancing over my palm.

The runes transformed into a concentrated ball of energy which I then shot at a nearby enemy. I created another with my left and the pawn disappeared in an instant.

The Sorcerer avatar my have a short range but it excels in damage. What makes it even more dangerous is its natural ability to deal damage in a wide area.

The white runes floating in my palm pulsed turning into a deep purple which then transformed into a larger sphere.

The sphere bursted upon impact as I threw it in a group of pawns simultaneously deleting three of their existence.

Strong eh? I was not even using a combat skill yet.

[ HEALTH 92% ]

I moved back as an enemy came to retaliate. The problem about Casters is their low defense. The lovely dress I was wearing does not provide protection.

Well, I can buy defensive garments but it will only ruin the dress.

I shot the pawn down but another came so I backed away to evade.

This avatar might be powerful enough to easily defeat the minor enemies but my speed of creating projectiles is a lot slower than a Chaplain's.

I better use my primary.

Runes floated above my bangles and my hands dazzled like fire. I shot the pawns one by one and soon we have outnumbered them making my allies rush towards the enemy golem.

An arrow suddenly pierced me as my opponent Rotuel smirked from a distance. He was standing behind the boundary ensuring that I could not reach him with my range.

Diving inside the golem while my primary is active would be suicide. I'd love to stuff the coward's face with energy balls but I'm not dumb to fall for this trick. I ignored him and shot the golem while standing at the edge of the boundary.

This impertinent fool, I can patiently endure his arrows more than his golem can keep up with my damage. The problem is that, my health dwindled down in just a few shots.

[ HEALTH 43% ]

I had to pull back and take a potion. Rotuel didn't chase me and instead focus on my allies so I moved further back to build up RAW MAGIC then went back to pommel the golem once more.

The Shikaree kept on shooting at me whenever I join the pawns. It was iritating that he can land every single shot even if I try to avoid it.

Taking down the golem is our top priority, I told myself. I can always execute my revenge later so patience. Patience. And patience.

Mender avatars have relatively low damage as compared to Casters. Well, their role is not to kill their enemies but support their allies. Knowing that I cannot retaliate being a Mender, enemies have always picked on me over and over. This taught me of patience and gave me the ability to ignore the taunts of the miserable fools.

Well, I am not a Mender at the moment and I know I'm supposed to be out there taking down this guy... but as I have said, the golem is our priority.

Another wave of pawns came and behind them was the Berserkr named Korg. He must have ran in here as soon as he revived. In the other hand, the Chaplain Greed is no where in sight.

"Take the front, I'll be back!" Rotuel told the Zerker moving off while his guildmate came forward.

Awe, I'd prefer if he stays behind the golem like forever. That's where cowards belong.

I thought the Berserkr would stop at the crowd of pawns but he suddenly charged at me without notice swinging his axe. I was able to dodge his movement and threw him a pair of projectiles I prepared in advance.

FWOOM FWOOM

Both of them connected. The bulky figure of his made him easier to target. Especially since he was so close to me.

Clang!

His axe sounded as he swung the other. I was able to block him with my weapon.

Yep. With my weapon.

Surpirse!

I held a black knife in my left hand. It was an item I purchased when I went back to the gate.

The Zerker showed me no sign of confusion as he continued attacking. He has advantage in close quarters and it appears he is quite pissed.

I better move away!

He was able to wound my arm and slit a part of my dress but I swiftly moved in to stab him with the black knife before rolling my way out of his reach.

A few shot of projectiles kept him from a distance but I knew it is not enough to kill him. He moved forward knowing that I could not cast fast enough.

I moved to evade him then casted ENSORCELL. My bangles did not lit up so I guess he did not noticed it. Before his axe could reach me, I blasted him in point blank shot.

FWOOM

The Zerker staggered as the black knife stabbed in his body flashed dealing him some serious damage.

FWOOM FWOOM

I was able to ran farther away due to this. I could see his frustration as he pulled out the knife. I smiled at him preparing stronger projectiles incase he continue his chase.

Well, I know this is not enough to kill him. I am not planning to kill him eitherway but I'm not gonna let him kill me. Moreso, I am only putting him closer to activate RAGE MODE.

I know I must not. That would be a big NO.

I better get my ultimate soon else I won't survive from this guy.

The Zerker stopped chasing and instead shifted his focus on my allies.

Now that's another coward, I guess?

I mean, that's a relief. I can collect more points this way!

I waved my hand and the black knife appeared back in its sheath.

With the help of the knife I was able to parry incoming attacks and even stab those whom have gotten too close.

Another wave of pawns came but the Chaplain has not returned. Did he got stuck on which items he should buy? I'm pretty sure healing his health won't take this long.

While I wondered in a distance, an arrow suddenly flew at me. Rotuel has returned and I noticed that he bought some items that would increase his damage.

Fighting two enemies at once is quite hard even for a professional Mender like me. Its dangerous especially when one has to face two alone. Yet, I've experienced this situation several times before so I won't need my team mate's help.

Probably.

I believe I can handle this easily. I beamed a smile as I casted ENSORCELL but then my jaw dropped as I heard Korg roaring loud with his RAGE MODE up.

It appears he forced the pawns to hit him so his health would quickly drop.

Rotuel charged his SHARP SHOT while the mad Zerker started running in my direction.

I can try to dodge the Shikaree but the raging guy is a different case. I probably won't survive at this rate.

I might actually need a team mate.

Geez, where is that Chaplain?!
