Chapter 25: Agni, The God of Fire

Fenrir stood with a posture that made everyone present tremble with fear. His teeth and fangs looked terrifying as he growled. His yellow eyes stared at Rohan with the gaze of a hunter looking at its prey.

Rohan's knees felt weak, he didn't expect Fenrir to know that he was 'training' Ryan. All of Rohan's subordinates ran away in panic, but Fenrir did not pay them any mind. He already knew that Rohan had a different scent from the others, the scent of a god.

Fenrir glanced at Ryan, who was sitting with a face full of bruises. Blood was coming out of his nose and lips. Fenrir's anger boiled over and he growled loudly once more.

"How dare you touch what belongs to the gods?!!" Fenrir's voice suddenly thundered in the minds of everyone present.

"Are you tired of living?!!" shouted Fenrir.

"T-this, this is just a misunderstanding..." Rohan tried to defend himself. "We are training him."

"What right do you have to train him?!!" Fenrir shouted again. "Only the Council of Twelve and Chronos have the right to decide who will train him!"

"B-but he was the one who asked..." Rohan lied, trying to save himself.

Fenrir became even angrier. His body doubled in size. Rohan fell to his knees. The aura of a God is indeed no joke.

"You dare to lie to me too!" Fenrir's voice thundered. Its front leg was raised, ready to slap Rohan.

Suddenly, from Rohan's side, flames erupted into the air. Inside the fire, a large and muscular figure appeared, with hair made of flames. His beard and mustache were also made of fire. Its height reaches over two meters.

"Fenrir, wait a moment!" The person said, raising his hand to prevent Fenrir's slap aimed at Rohan.

Fenrir lowered his hand and growled at the fiery-haired person. "Agni! Is that child one of your students?!"

Agni turned to Rohan, who now looked like he was about to cry upon seeing his mentor arrive. Agni shook his head while sighing.

"Yes. He is indeed hard to manage. But please forgive him this time." Agni said again to Fenrir.

"Why should I forgive him? He has crossed the line as an Initiate." Fenrir snarled.

"Just for me. I promise he will not repeat all his bad deeds. If not, I will burn him myself." Said Agni while staring at Fenrir firmly.

Rohan was astonished. "L-Lord Agni..."

"Shut up! You've committed too many sins." Agni shouted at him.

"Hmm. You, the hothead, can protect a human?" Fenrir squinted, half in disbelief.

Agni just shrugged. "There's a reason, but I'm bound not to tell anyone," he said.

Fenrir squinted his eyes and asked, "Gods' matter?"

"Yes," Agni answered firmly.

"But he still has to be punished by the chosen one," said Fenrir. "He is the one who suffers because you spoiled this damn kid." Fenrir glared at Rohan. Rohan edged behind Agni in fear.

Agni laughed, "Of course."

They turned to Ryan, who was being treated by Jiali. His wounds have disappeared, and only a few bruises are still visible on his face.

Ryan, who had been observing everything, shook his head. "It's okay. I'm just still weak," he said with difficulty because his lips were cracked.

Fenrir clicked his tongue. He had suspected Ryan would say that. He just didn't want Agni to know that he was no longer in the mood to punish Rohan because of Agni's arrival.

Agni approached Ryan. His hair made of fire waved as he walked.

"The chosen one, Ryan, thank you for your forgiveness. Next, I would like to ask for your favor to accept Rohan as your follower," said Agni while half-bowing.

Ryan immediately stood up and bowed his body as well. "I don't mind, Lord Agni," said Ryan. He glanced at Rohan, who looked flustered with a red face.

"M-Master..." he said to Agni, pleading.

"Shut up! This is your punishment. You have to serve Ryan and take good care of him," Agni retorted, gritting his teeth. Rohan could only remain silent and lower his head.

"Alright. I will leave. Goodbye Ryan," Agni glanced at Fenrir, "And goodbye to you, Wolfie." he said with a smirk.

Fenrir growled and jumped towards Agni. However, Agni had already transformed into a blaze of fire and then vanished.

Fenrir, who had returned to his original size, turned towards Jiali and asked, "And who are you?"

Jiali immediately bowed and replied, "My name is Jiali, Lord Fenrir."

"Hmm. There's the scent of Long Wang on your body. Is he your mentor?" asked Fenrir.

"That's right. He was the one who told me to save Ryan," said Jiali.

Fenrir nodded. "You go back first. I will stay here."

Ryan and Jiali left Fenrir. Rohan reluctantly followed them.

Fenrir, now alone, sat staring at the sky.

All these events seem contrived. It seems like everything was planned so that these three young people would meet.

"Lord Chronos. Sometimes you come up with silly scenarios like this," he muttered.

Ryan returned to his room after thanking Jiali and didn't forget to slap Rohan's back hard. He was a bit annoyed, but he knew, that rather than the gods fighting and ruining everything over this issue, it was better to give in. Rohan could only look at him with a frown, unable to respond.

He sighed, changed his dirty clothes, and cleaned himself up. He observed himself, all his wounds had disappeared, only a few bruises remained.

"This is what happens if you're still weak, Ryan," he said to himself. Then he lay down and soon fell asleep from exhaustion.

Fenrir appeared after Ryan fell asleep. He then climbed onto his own bed and lay down while watching the young man with his soft snore.

He was really angry when he saw Ryan all bruised and battered. He had never felt so worried about someone or something. For some reason, he who is known to be so arrogant, could be attracted to Ryan.

For the next few months, Ryan trained and practiced diligently. He worked hard to become strong. Terra, Calantha, and Azel were very pleased with his progress.

Once in a while, he gathered with Jiali, and Rohan, who also joined reluctantly. Sometimes Jiali and Rohan become his sparring partners.

He is already able to manipulate earth and stone well, his swordplay is starting to improve, and he is capable of separating his physical body from his spirit.

Until the time comes when he has to start learning the water element. But he was puzzled, because the other students didn't have to learn other elements. Not because it is forbidden, but because most of them can only master one element along with divine power, and their weapon mastery skill.

"No, no, no. I can only control fire. I won't be able to control other elements," Rohan asserted. "Jiali can only control water."

Jiali nodded in agreement. "We can't, Ryan. Maybe it's because you have talent and your position will eventually be Emperor, that's why you are required to master many things."

"Yup. We are just extraordinary humans. But you are an extraordinarily extraordinary person," Rohan continued with a grin.

Ryan was lost in thought. Fenrir once told him that after The Arena, he would study somewhere else again. Ah, how frustating.
