A house, on top of a hill, it was a stormy night, screams and yelling could be heard from the house. A woman groaning in pain was sitting against a wall in a corner, her hands covered in blood, a man standing over her with a dagger glowing a bright green color. The people were hard to see like they were shadows, you couldn't see their faces, just their figures. The voice of a young woman could be heard screaming at the man, the words sounding unclear and all echo like. The man turned around and you could see the young woman, also blurred and shadow-like. Then the man looks at you and yells something that you didn't understand, he looks at you but you still can't see his face. Then you suddenly wake up, you're soaked with sweat and still feel anxious. "What was that?" You wonder.
It was a normal day in Duntor, a busy port town, streets filled with people going to get their goods and vendors yelling out what they were selling. Your sister, Rachel, had left Duntor for a few days and you were on your own for a while. Usually, at night you just sit in the tavern, The Fiery Drink, by the fireplace, but tonight you didn't. Someone had already taken the spot by the fireplace and you had to sit at the counter, a blonde guy was seated next to you and a small lady was behind the bar. They were talking for a little while and you blankly stare forwards whilst deep in thought.
Without warning a man comes into the tavern with a loud, deep laugh. He sits down next to you and orders a large amount of MushBeer for himself. You look at the man and notice that he's dressed in all black, the man is already pale and the black makes him look even paler. He's clearly already drunk and talks very loud to the people around him. Whilst observing him the man suddenly looks you in the eyes, he went completely silent. He then aggressively grabs your head with 2 hands and gets real close to you. The sudden movement of the man makes you let out a scared scream. "Don't worry I'm a doctor! I just need to look at your special eye here." He points at your right eye and you realize that he pulls a sharp tool out of a leather bag. You try escaping from his grip and yell for help. "Stop moving kid! You have a real special eye here and I need it to look at it!" He brings the tool up to your face and you shriek, then you feel the hands of the man let go and you stumble backward as you try to get away from him.
You look back at the man and see the blonde guy from earlier. "Leave the kid alone Nix! He isn't your science experiment or something." The man, apparently called Nix, looks at you, scoffs and slowly walks away from the bar. "You alright-... Woah your eye... Did Nix do this?" You slowly shake your head as the blonde guy helps you up, you look around and notice almost everyone in the tavern looking at you. "Just ignore everyone kid, I'm Jayden. What's your name?" Jayden sticks his hand out and you shake it. "I-I'm Jason" You kind of stutter as you say your name and turn back to the wall. You ask Jayden why he helped you and start a conversation.

After a few hours of Jayden telling you stories about battles he has been in he asks you what happened to your eyes. "I'm actually blind to this eye" You put your finger underneath your right eye as you say that. "I don't know why this one is green and the other one is purple but it's been like that for as long as I remember." Jayden looks at you with a confused face and then orders another Beer and a glass of water. "Why did that pale man want my eye Jayden?" He's about to answer when you get distracted by some kind of white grayish light. Jayden follows your gaze and quickly stands up. "NIX NO!" He looks around the tavern and you still don't understand what's happening. The light is now under you and you also stand up, as it follows you you feel a weird, warm sensation up your spine. Then suddenly you're surrounded in smoke and all the sound fades away.
After the smoke-like gas disappeared you look around and see Nix in front of you. You try to move but you can't, it feels like your feet are stuck to the ground and your arms are stuck in the air. "Don't worry kid, I'm just gonna inspect your eye a little" He looks at you with a grin on his face as he gets really close again. Nix whispers some things and writes something in a book. You ask what he's gonna do to you, he ignores you and stands in front of you again. He says something again but this time he isn't whispering. You feel the sensation in your spine again, the comfortable warmth, except now it goes beyond the point of comfortable. It turns into a burning source of heat and as you scream it out it becomes ice and ice cold. Your vision turns black and you can only hear yourself scream. But then in between your screaming of pain you hear a loud bang paired with a purple flash. The pain doesn't go away until a minute or so after the bang and you stop screaming. You hear some concerned voices as you start to regain some of your sight, you see some dark figures and quickly back up into a corner away from them. Once you fully regained your sight you saw Jayden, the bar lady, and a dark, mystic purple-robed man. Jayden and the bar lady were standing over you talking to each other with the concerned voices whilst the man robed in purple stood over Nix. He wasn't touching Nix but it was clear something was holding him down. The robed man speaks in a deep, angered tone. "Tell me what you did Nix. Don't make me extract it from you, we both know what happens after that. "Nix keeps quiet and the robed man bends over, he puts his hand on the floor and you look with amazement as 2 purple lights start to go around them in circles. You're still looking whilst the man creates some sort of forcefield before touching Nix's forehead. Jayden sees that you're looking and quickly covers your eyes and ears as Nix starts screaming. Jayden gets you out of the room and the bar lady follows.
"Are you okay Jason?" Jayden asks as he carries you back to the tavern. You try to speak but your throat hurts from all the screaming so you just nod your head. When you arrive at the tavern the bar lady whispers something to Jayden and he puts you down. "Listen up Jason, this is Helena" He points at the bar lady. "She is gonna bring you to a room upstairs and you are going to sleep here tonight. Okay?" You nod again and Helena gestures to follow her.
