PROLOUGE

PROLOUGE

Eons ago the gods were at peace. They alone had control over the heavens and the Earth, and all the inhabitants within. But there were some gods who felt that the Gods were unjust in their rule, they sided with the humans honoring them with four gifts. The first was the fire of the sun, to help keep them warm and light their way. The Second was water, the creation of life and with it came the many creatures within to feed on. Third was the air, the breeze like a friend would caress their faces gently and remind them that they are never alone. Lastly they offered them the Earth itself, knowing that they deserved to be in control of their own destinies.

The other Gods were mad at the betrayal of their own. Civil war broke out causing the heavens to clash and bang, like the greatest storm the world had ever seen. After a long fought battle Zeus stepped forth and, conceded realizing that neither side would win.

“The mortals may keep their gifts,” his mighty voice boomed, “but at a price.”

So Zeus took the Elements and one by one he tore them apart creating both a light side and a dark side to each. But in doing so the mighty God inadvertently created two new elements, Akashra, the spirit of the living and Lazarus the ruler of death. Fearing what humanity could do with these new added elements Zeus concealed them each into their own orbs and locked them deep inside Mount Olympus. Knowing that the mountain alone wouldn’t be enough to conceal them Zeus sought out two worthy guardians to watch over them.

Watching over Akashra was a mighty Warrior, Samuel. Samuel was strong and brave, his loyalty to the gods his most appealing feature as he spent most of his days alone praying to them.

For Lazarus Zeus sought a man of science, knowing that death was more of the mind and something that cannot be fought over he found the smartest man in all the cities. The man fought against it at first but Zeus promised him all the knowledge of the universe if he watched over Lazarus.

Reluctantly the man agreed. With each passing day the man paced the tomb, lonely, only his knowledge to keep him company.

“Free me, and I shall do the same for you,” Lazarus hissed from his resting place.

“I was appointed to watch over and protect you, not release you,” the man responded.

“you traded knowledge for freedom,” Lazarus reviled, “but release me from this prison and I shall set you free once more.”

The promise of freedom enticed the man, for freedom had become a greater prize to him then his immense knowledge. Reluctantly he freed the embodiment of death which filled the room with darkness, engulfing the protector until his body became theirs.
