Prologue: Fall of Titans

Prologue: Fall of Titans

People were screaming, crying for their loved ones, but he paid it no heed. He looked up into the sky, with awesome figures looming. Titans.

There was a  colossal beast, a hundred-legged serpent bigger than a skyscraper, with a circular maw akin to a razor whirlpool, and fangs dripping with accursed venom. It shrieked and raged while haphazardly spewing a sicky green mist everywhere.

Its opponent was a beast unlike any other. It looked like a dog, but not. Its head was unlike any he had seen. It was like a dog combined with a crocodile. Angular, but designed for killing, topped with a crystalline, flaming horn. Its powerful body, corded with muscles, was covered in black and gold fur, intertwined with ethereal red flames. Although it was smaller than the head of its opponent, it was no less powerful.

Its batlike wings beat powerfully, causing a thunderous roar. It shot forward, impaling the serpent on the horn while ripping through its guts with its powerful jaw. The snake shrieked and spewed a foul mist at it. But the beast did not let go. It hung on as the thrashing of the serpent grew weaker and weaker. Eventually, the thrashing stopped. As the beast released its hold on the corpse, and prepared to fly away, the world suddenly lost all color, and he could feel the presence of power. Alien, eldritch power.

As the beast bared its fangs and searched for the threat, a strange hole opened in space itself. A tear in reality itself that could only be defined as a ..rift. A portal to the eldritch planes. A single lidless eye looked through. It did nothing, just stared, but its power hummed through the air. The lidless eye, that eldritch creature from beyond, looked upon the beast.

It started glowing, and shot something at the beast. Pure power, perhaps. It can be only speculation, for the thing from beyond was too powerful for human eyes to behold. The beast shot back and slammed into a building, which promptly collapsed on top of it. The rift closed, and the world regained color and time.

He remembered running towards where the beast fell, although he didnt know why. He continued running, the shouts of the people trying to stop him a distant hum in the back of his mind. He ran for what felt like a few seconds, which in reality was multiple minutes. He remembered someone chasing after him, although he didn't remember who.

He finally reached the bulding, and saw it up close for the first and last time. The beast. Akin to a dragon of old earth tales, but greater. This was a titan. He moved closer, and felt its mind. An alien mind saturated with pure power, yet wanting to communicate. He slowly moved closer, and felt feelings of affirmation from its mind. He ran to it, and touched its fur. It wasn't hot, no. The fire was strangely warm and comforting. The beast's horn glowed gently. He touched it. A burning pain shot through his arm. He tried to pull it away but it was stuck, and the pain kept increasing. The beast started glowing, brighter and brighter by the second. He wanted to scream but couldn't. He saw the beast's power pulsing, with waves of it flowing through its horn and into him. As the power flowed into his body, the pain became more tolerable. It didn't decrease, the energy from the creature was just helping him through it. The Titan, for it was no beast, but intelligent, glowed brighter and brighter until it became blinding. He closed his eyes but it still shone through. He felt the horn change shape under his hand and then disappear. The light suddenly stopped. He opened his eyes. The Titan was gone. He suddenly felt a weakness in his legs and fell backwards. He felt someone pick him up, and then everything went dark.
