Chapter 7: Brief Exchange

Chapter 7: Brief Exchange

While the whole realm was going through massive upheaval, the people present in the restaurant were also experiencing a similar situation.

Yet, their shock was even more great, to the point where even saying 'their jaws had dropped to the ground' wasn't enough to describe it.

"You're not worthy of that surname. Possessing such a bad character, yet daring to call yourself Long is an insult that even if the heavens forgive, I shall not, " a calm voice boomed, snapping everyone out of their reveries.

That's right, the owner of this majestic voice was the one who caused them to question their senses.

Looking around, everyone could see a person laying on the ground, screaming at the top of his lungs while a person stood afloat in the air, hovering next to him.

Like a ruler of the worlds, he had his hands at the back while he looked down on everyone.

Although there was no expression on his face, he unknowingly radiated an aura that made it difficult for everyone to breathe.

Just what happened?

Trying to figure out what had occurred, the people thought back to what happened.

The only thing they could remember was Wanxi trying to swear on his name when a sudden gust of wind whistled past everyone's ear followed by a sentence that caused their ears to bleed.

The next thing everyone knew, Long Wanxi was lying on the ground as he coughed mouthfuls of blood.

"Ughhh..aah…what did you do to me….tell me…TELL ME!!!! Why can't I feel my spiritual energy?!" A voice filled with agony screamed.

"That's because I sealed your cultivation," Taiyaing stated with apathetic eyes.

He didn't really want to do this, but seeing the man in front him tarnishing the name of the Heavenly Long Lineage, the second most powerful lineage of the Heavenly Realm, touched his reverse scale.

Besides, he couldn't erase her pure soul and face from his memory whenever he heard the word 'Long'.

"...how dare yo---" Wanxi threat was caught halway in his throat after his eyes came into contact with Taiyang's. The power in those eyes was enough to paralyse him.

Looking around, he realized that he was not in any position to talk. Normally, he'd receive looks of reverence and fear from other people, but now what he felt in those gazes was aversion and pity instead.

"You…" Although he wanted to try to scare the man with his background, but something told him that this man, who had disguised himself as a mortal, would definitely not even lift an eyebrow at any sort of threat from him.

"J-just who are you?"

Finally, the question that everyone wanted to ask but didn't dare to left Wanxi's mouth. Ears perked up and all eyes were on Taiyang.

At first, everyone had thought that he was just a mad mortal trying to show off, but the aura he currently emitted was otherworldly to say the least.

Wanxi had once met his family's patriarch, who is an High Immortal, but even he did not radiate such a pressure. Yet, being in Taiyang's presence, Wanxi felt as if his own blood told him that he was unworthy.

"Who? Me? I am no one special," Taiyang replied before landing onto the floor. His former impressive aura was nowhere to be found.

You are kidding, right?

"I am just a normal mortal," Taiyang continued. His little brother said he was not good at lying, but Taiyant begged to differ.

No, you are lying! You are definitely lying!

Everyone faces' twitched after witnessing Taiyang trying to blantly lie with a dumb grin on his face.

Even if a thousand scholars tried to convince them otherwise, they would never believe that this young man was anything remotely close to a mortal.

Wanxi was at a loss for words at Taiyang's shameless display. "Ca-can you please unseal my cultivation…please, I beg of you! I'll give you anything in return!" He immediately prostrated in front of Taiyang.

Although he could hear surprised gasps from his surroundings, but he endured the humiliation.

His cultivation meant everything to him. Without it, he'd have no chance of participating in the recruitment session, much less passing it.

Taiyang gazed at the now kneeling Wanxi calmly. He was not unfamiliar with this sight. In fact, he was used to seeing millions of immortals prostrat÷ before him on daily basis.

"Not until you change your surname or show me you are worthy of it," he told the young man. Even though he felt he went overboard in his reaction, but he couldn't forgive any one tainting the surname Long.

Realizing his cruel fate, Wanxi sighed with resignation.

'I guess this is my heavenly retribution?'

"What's going on here?" A voice that sounds old, but full of vitality interrupts the scene. The owner of voice is an old man with head full of white hair.

This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

He wore a white robe that matched his long hair, giving him a serene appearance. When the resturant staff saw him, they hurriedly went to greet him.

"Hey, do you know who that man is?" One young man asked his friend.

"Pshhh! Be quite! Haven't you heard of the rumour about an elder residing at this restaurant?"

"Yeah, but wasn't that false?"

"False my ass! He is elder Baise of the Immortal Pheonix sect, famous for having an eccentric personality. I heard he once disobeyed the Sect Master's order, causing him to lose his status as the sect elder and being sent here as a result."

The young man trembled after hearing all this. To disrespect the Sect Master of one of the six great sects took guts that he did not dare dream of possessing.

"So what's all this fuss about?" Baise looked around him for answers. All he remembers is being in deep mediation when he sensed a powerful tremor that sent shivers down his spine.

"Hey you, come here and explain to me what happened here!" He pointed at one of the staff members.

"L-Lord Baise…" the man hesitated to speak.

"I said come here!" With a wave of his hand, the man flew towards him before being roughly thrown onto the ground. "Now, speak clearly! I want to hear everything that took place!"

"L…Lord Baise…its like this…" as he listened to the man speak, he found it hard to calm the waves in heart.

By the time the man stopped speaking, Baise eyes had locked down onto the indifferent Taiyang, completely ignoring the injured Wanxi.

"May I know who this esteemed customer is?" He cupped his hands in front Taiyang and cautiously inquired.

He found it hard to believe that someone this young could make him feel afraid, but his intuition told him that this young man was anything but ordinary.

"My name is Zhenshi De," Taiyang quickly responded with a fake name.

"Well, young man Zhenshi, what excuse do you have for causing such a big disturbance in my restaurant?" He suddenly narrowed his eyes as he gazed straight into Taiyang's eyes.

Everyone in the hall could feel the atmosphere suddenly change, a heavy aura permeated in the air, causing those with weaker cultivation to suffocate.

When it seemed this atmosphere would continue to exist for all eternity, it immediately ended—or rather was broken off.

"*Cough*" Everyone saw Baise coughing a mouthful of blood before taking several steps.

"What happened?" Someone asked.

"How would I know?!" His friend looked at him strangely.

All he saw was Baise and Taiyang looking at each other for just a fraction of a second before he saw the former take back several steps.

However, a certain person with a more deep background knew exactly the significance of this exhange. "So even the famous Elder Baise lost to him..?" Huiguang, who has been observing in the background all this time, mutters with profound shock.

While most did not understand about what had happened, she knew that a soul battle had took place in the exchange earlier, with Elder Baise, a mid immortal, being utterly defeated.

"Just who is he?" She stared intensely at Taiyang. A man who she previously considered to be a mortal had now defeated a mid immortal in front of her.

And to think I tried to protect him earlier, how laughable.

She now felt extremely curious about this average-looking young man, a emotion she had never felt towards a person her age.

However, the person who felt even more shocked than Huiguang was Baise himself. "W…what was that?" A dumbfounded voice leaked from his mouth.

Although he had only used 50 per cent of his soul force in the attack earlier because he was afraid of killing the young man, yet the result had completely managed to catch him off guard.

When his soul tried to penetrate Tiayang's soul defences, it felt as if there was a big gate that wouldn't allow it to enter. Yet, this is exactly what frightened the shit out of him.

Because, it was not that he had lost to Taiyang in terms of soul force, but more like he wasn't even worthy of exchanging blows with it, much less get defeated by it.

With eyes full of terror, Elder Baise, a man who didn't fear anyone, trembled for the first time while speaking,"J-just who are you?"

"I am getting tired of people asking me that question again and again. As I said before, I am just normal young man," Taiyang replied with an annoyed face.

That's a lie! There's no way we'd buy that!

Everyone including Baise inwardly thought.

"Alright, get up, you two. It seems like this first rate restaurant is only this much," Taiyang grabbed the two stunned siblings and prepared to leave.

"W-wait up!" Baise rushed to block Taiyang path.

"What now?" He found himself quickly getting fed up by this nonsense.

"Please, esteemed customer, forgive me for my offense earlier. I didn't have any ill intentions behind my pathetic attack, I merely wanted to probe you. Please forgive me!" After saying that, Baise immediately lowered his head.

Noisy, noisy...

Whispers immediately filled the hall. People couldn't believe what they were seeing—an elder of Immortal Pheonix sect lowering his head to a young man.

"Its not about that, so there's no need for you to apologise,"

"Then what's it about, esteemed customer?!" Baise asked in confusion. He could not afford to let such a powerful person leave with a bad impression of him.

Hearing that, Tiayang turned around and said calmly, "Well, all we came here for was to eat. And when I ordered for some dumplings, your waiter didn't respond. Not to mention, for reasons unbeknownst to me, those people over their insulted us. Tell me, is this how you treat your customers?!"

As he heard Taiyang's reasons, all Baise felt was anger and fear. Anger at the waiter for not respecting such a powerful person's orders. Fear at thinking of what would have happened if Taiyang had actually gotten angry.

"Who among you was responsible for serving this esteemed customer?!" He bellowed loudly.

"R…respected L-lord…" the waiter came forward.

"So it was you, huh? Good, very good! Now give me one good reason for why I shouldn't break your bones?!" With his whole body trembling with anger, he shouted at the waiter.

"H-Have…mercy," unable to bear the pressure, the waiter pissed himself.

"Have mercy?! I'll think about that after you prostrate in front of young noble and apologise!"

"There's no need for that, everyone makes mistakes. Besides, it's not like I am particularly offended by what he did," Taiyang interrupted from the side, winning gasps of admiration from everyone.

Baise also felt impressed at the young man's generous behaviour. This temperament alone was something not even the core disciples of the six great sects possessed.

"Did you hear that? Hurry up and thank the young noble!" The waiter immediately got up and went to thank Tiayang.

With one issue addressed, Baise turned to look at the members of the Long house. "You people of Long house have some nerve to be causing trouble in my Immortal Pheonix Sect's territory. "

The two men who had accompanied Wanxi looked at each other before one of them came forward with his hands cupped, "We apologise for the trouble we've caused, Elder Baise. Please consider our patriarch and forgive us this once." Although the young man had a flattering smile on his face, yet a hint of arrogance could be felt in his voice.

"Your patriarch, you say? Hahahaha I guess you are right, aren't you?"

Although the man didn't feel quite right about Baise laughing like this, he still nodded his head. His smile bbecame bigger as he saw Baise's friendliness.

"Hahahahaha you people of Long House are something alright. NOW GET THE FUCKING HELL OUT OF HERE BEFORE I CUT YOU INTO A THOUSAND PIECES!" He shouted in a rage. "As for that old ghost who wouldn't die, others may be afraid of him, but this old man is not. Now get lost before I change my mind."

The two members felt dumbfounded, realizing that the rumours of this freak's eccentric character were not false. They hesitated for a second before picking up Wanxi and scurrying away.

"Well, then, young noble, now that all of this has been taken care of, why don't you allow this old man to show you his hospitality?" With a 180 degree change in his attitude, Baise flattering grinned at Taiyang.

Even Taiyang and the siblings found it hard to relate this bootlicking man with the awe-inspiring elder from a second ago.

This was the first time Taiyang had met someone so shameless. He hesitated for a moment before nodding and saw the smile on the old man widen.
