Chapter 1: Plagiarism is bad for your health

SLUUURRP

The sound of a young woman, about the age of 16, loudly slurping her coffee fills the room. The rapid clicking of her keyboard is a constant companion.

"Stupid readers. I'm not plagiarizing," she mutters in her mind, battling the wave of comments on her freshly published web novel.

JennaReads:

"This is blatant plagiarism! Do you have any original ideas of your own?"

Author Response:

"Accusations like that are unfounded and offensive. My work is 100% original. Do some research before you make baseless claims."

SamTheReader:

"Seriously? This is a rip-off! Did you think we wouldn't notice?"

Author Response:

"Seriously? Get your facts straight. My story is entirely my own, and any resemblance is purely coincidental."

AlexBookFan:

"This is a joke, right? You just copied someone else's work and called it your own."

Author Response:

"This is no joke. The only joke here is your baseless accusation. My work is original."

LitLover92:

"Unbelievable. This is the worst case of plagiarism I've ever seen. Shame on you!"

Author Response:

"Shame on you for making such a ridiculous claim. My story is original and any similarities are unintentional."

EmilyCritiques:

"Wow, way to steal someone else's story. Have some integrity!"

Author Response:

"Have some integrity yourself. My work is original, and your accusations are completely false."

ChrisReads:

"I can't believe you published this. It's a complete rip-off!"

Author Response:

"I can't believe you'd jump to such a wild conclusion without proof. My work is 100% my own."

SarahRants:

"Did you think we were too dumb to notice? This is a total copy!"

Author Response:

"Did you think you could make such a claim without evidence? My story is original. End of discussion."

BookwormBen:

"This is infuriating. You just took someone else's work and claimed it as your own!"

Author Response:

"What's infuriating is your baseless accusation. My work is completely original."

CriticKelly:

"How dare you publish this garbage? It's stolen word-for-word!"

Author Response:

"How dare you accuse me without any proof? My work is original, and I won't tolerate such unfounded attacks."

GodOfOriginality:

"As a deity of creativity, I am deeply disappointed. This reeks of plagiarism. If you have any true talent, prove it by creating something wholly original."

Author Response:

"I don't need divine validation from a fake god to know my work is original. my next story will silence all doubts."

"weirdos" says the young woman as she pushes off the chair. "so what if its similar to other writings, what does that matter?' she mutters as she leaves her dorm room and goes down the stairs of the building.

"time to do the shopping" she says cheerfully as she walks down the street and reaches a pedestrian crossing, opening her phone to check her bank account balance.

"or maybe tonight's dinner". she mutters darkly, seeing only $82.26 in her account.

"HONK"

a loud horn of a tuck fills the air as it charges towards her. "fuck" the young girl closes her eyes waiting for the impact.

Vroom.

she feels a yank on her collar pulling her back, she opens her eyes opens her eyes to see a middle age man.

"Kids these days watch to much anime" he mutters in darkly

"thank you" the young lady continues on her way to the store grabbing ice-cream and instant noodles. "only the essentials Clare" the young lady says, as she grabs a packet of chips.

arriving at the check out she heard a familiar sound, a trucks engine, the same truck that almost turned her into meat paste.

she shudders and heads home and falls on her bed, thinking about her life so far, about how she lost her parents on her 6th birthday and being sent to her slightly crazy, grandmother, who made her move from Australia to Japan. and then on her 7th birthday her grandmother made her be a shine maiden to a stupid fox spirit that didn't even exist. and how she had to get a kitsune mask tattooed on to her back for her 'protection'.

when she was 13 her grandmother died, putting her into an orphanage.

depressed, she found solace in reading books one after the other, fantasy, history even textbooks if she was truly bord, an eventually, Clare even tried writing them

when she was 15 she published her own book on a website, in the beginning it was original but it barely got any views, so she started copying little things here and there from other popular books and it worked, she got popular and she started making money.

of course it all went to her head and she ended up with books that she could barely call her own, fighting off the angry readers all the time.

"urgh" Clare groans as she gets out of bed, shaking off all her thoughts and worries. "why do i even bother".

"ill quit tomorrow" Clare decides and heads into the kitchen making her dinner of 3 minute noodles.

Honk

A truck? Is the only thought that fills her mind as the sound goes though the air

BANG

Clare loses consciousness, feeling heat wrap around her body, followed by pin pricks all over. then nothing

and that was the end of Clare Nakamura.
