The next day had come. Carina and Amal were home taking care of their newborn baby while discussing the investigations. Not only were they detectives, they were also dream walkers as well.
Carina: So, do you think this was the work of a rogue dream walker?
Amal: I'm not sure if that's even possible, a dream walker going rogue, but it's the only way to make sense of this.
Carina: I agree. The two investigations happened in a couple of days, and both men had a hole on their head near their brain. It's possible it's someone who was maybe invading their dreams?
Carina had an unsure look on her face.
Amal: It's possible. We have to look into it more, but with a rogue dream walker on the loose, this case gets highly dangerous, especially if we tackle it head-on and don't know who we are facing. We have to tread lightly.
Carina: I agree, but we still don't know the intent. Jewelry? Money? Or is this just mindless murder?
Amal: It's difficult to know, but before now, we should be on guard, but we can't let him keep murdering these people. We need to be fast and responsive.
Carina: I agree. For now, let's just keep looking for any clues.
It was 1:32.
The church that was destroyed was currently being rebuilt, but the construction site was clear. Everyone was on their lunch break.
Someone walked into the building.
His footsteps were dead silent. He had no presence, just like how small crumbles of dust will enter the building; no one would care and notice.
His silent footsteps walked through the church into the middle of it.
He was about 4'10". The figure was short. It had a round stomach. It was in a jester outfit. The jester had the colors red and blue, the entire jester costume, with the face being a white mask and yellow X's on both its eyes, and its mouth covered in red lipstick.
He looked at the ground into the two yellow XX's where his eyes were meant to be, and stared into the abyss.
Jester: I used to walk through divinity, a man of purity, light, and charity, a man of light and prosperity.
Jester: Cassius, you took that from me. It's about time you returned what you stole. I know you were here. You can't hide from me forever.
The jester grew constantly more angry and frustrated.
Jester: May the abyss hold you within its chains.
Jester: YOU DISGRACEFUL TRAITOR!!!!!!!!
The jester's voice echoed through the universe.
But yet, no one would hear it.
Central City, otherwise known as Miami, was a city that held many dream walkers, and the most powerful ones of that scene. The human who became the first dream walker since Vigil lived on top of the city in the skies, far away from everyone.
Meaning that libraries here store a lot of history and knowledge about dream walkers.
Amal was in that library looking for some books, more knowledge on dream walking itself.
He wanted to learn more in case it might be helpful for this investigation and many others in the future.
He was in the library looking at some books.
One book he was looking at was called "Demon Myths."
It was a book debunking demons from the 3rd Rejection.
Nothing in the book stood out to Amal, as he already learned all about demons when he was in school when they were in history, learning about the 3rd Rejection, as it's one of the units in school.
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
But something that would stand out to him.
It would be on one of the pages; a poem would be written on it.
Amal would not know who would write this poem, as there was no name on it.
But the poem goes like this:
The demons walk where shadows crawl, Yet beauty clings to each and all. Their faces carved from twilight’s art, But veiled in horrors torn apart.
They shroud their steps, they steal their sound, No breath, no whisper, none are found. A presence lost, a voice concealed, Yet in the dark, their grace revealed.
And angels, bright with golden grace, Wear stolen masks upon their face. With voices high, their echoes swell, A chime of heaven—sung from hell.
They shine, they blind, they call, they preach, Their hands too soft, yet just out of reach. But silent hearts betray the guise, For sorrow gleams behind their eyes.
Oh, trust not light, nor shun the shade, For truth is veiled and beauty fades. The fairest forms may rot inside, And monsters wear the night to hide.
This poem would catch the detective's attention. He would check out the book.
It was starting to get dark outside. The sky was twilight, and Amal was walking back home. He had just texted Carina that he was coming back home and telling her to prepare dinner.
As he was walking through, he walked by the church.
Amal: I see, that's the church that the roof was randomly destroyed, but I see cracks everywhere.
All of a sudden, Amal would get a feeling in his stomach like it was turning.
Amal felt like something was off.
Amal: Vision on!
He would start dream walking.
His vision would be called "Seeker."
It could seek things that are off or don't "exist" or did exist but were moved (Examples: screams, footprints, missing presence, blood that was once there, things that were once there, or the seeker could seek things that are out of normal).
Amal hadn't thought of it before; he should have used his vision during the first two investigations.
Then,
Then,
Then,
He would see something terrifying.
---
Vera was in her pajamas, ready to go to sleep. Her parents were wealthy, so she had a big bedroom. She was there trying to sleep but couldn't.
It was 11 pm.
Vera: Ahhhhh, I'm so tired.
Vera would be thinking about Anima. She would make a flustered face.
Vera: Nooooooooooooooo! STAWWPPP BRAIN STAWPP IT RIGHT NOW!
Vera: I can't be thinking about him during this time, or I'll get...
Vera would put her hand below her stomach.
Her cheeks would turn red.
Vera: Oh jeez, not again.
She would feel this fuzzy and funny feeling where her crotch was.
Vera: Ahhh, I can't sleep, things!!!
She would open her window and jump out of her bedroom.
Her house was on a hill that Anima's house was below, where his beach house was. All she had to do was cross one street.
She would cross it and see the stairs that led down to the beach.
Vera: I shouldn't be doing this. What's wrong with me?
She would walk down the stairs.
Her feet could feel the cold sand.
She would walk to Anima's house, which was just a couple of seconds away. She could feel the tides as they were high, splashing the beach. The water would reach the back of her feet.
She would walk up the small wooden steps to Anima's house.
She would knock on the door; no one would answer.
Vera: Everyone is most likely asleep.
She would look from the window and see Anima's bed above the couches on a wooden platform with some stairs.
She noticed the door was open.
She opened the door and entered the house.
Vera: Oh gawd, I shouldn't be doing this.
She would hold her heart to her chest. Her green emerald eyes would look like they were lost in love.
Her cheeks were still bright red.
She would walk up the stairs.
She would sit on his bed.
Vera: You're so cute, Anima.
She would then get on top of Anima.
Vera: What am I doing??
Her heart was beating nonstop, rapidly. She could hear it loud and clear.
Both her hands would be on Anima's head. She would be towering over Anima.
Vera: Ahhhh.
Vera: No, I can't!
Vera then would stop and lay next to Anima on the bed while he was in a deep slumber.
Vera: I should really go home.
But all of a sudden, her eyes would start closing.
She was starting to fall asleep.
But before she fell asleep,
She heard something. A chant? A speech? She wasn't sure herself.
But she heard something.
_Purple mist and blackened tide,_ _A man who walks where time won’t bide._ _With purple eyes that see too far,_ _A shadow lost where echoes are._
_He does not belong, not here, not then,_ _A whisper lost, again, again._ _The future is past, the past is the key,_ _A circle unbroken, a fate yet to be._
_Step forward, step back, it’s all the same,_ _The echo remains, but so does the name._ _Turn from the hourglass, shatter the sand,_ _He was not meant for this broken land. The miracle man
