The alarm clock rang, but Lyna was already awake. She had spent the night going through her watch, searching for any clue that could give her an advantage over Matsuda. She found nothing new. With a sigh, she stretched and got ready for another day at university.
In the kitchen, Anna, her mother, was engaged in a desperate battle against a coffee maker that clearly hated her. She was wearing a ridiculously tight shirt and absurdly short shorts.
“Good morning, dear,” she greeted with a smile while the coffee overflowed.
“Yeah, yeah, good morning. Mom, could you wear something more… decent?”
“Huh? Why? I'm at home. Besides, no one’s complained.”

“Because it’s just the two of us living here!”
Anna just laughed and kept fighting with the coffee.
Lyna sighed and grabbed her backpack. Outside, her father was waiting in his car. Well, one of his cars. And with one of his fake names for the week.
“Come on, I’ll drive you to university.”
“Don’t you have a murder to commit?”
“Nah, I postponed it until after lunch.”
Without arguing, Lyna got into the car. At least she wouldn’t have to take the crowded bus.
At the university…
“Lynaaaa!” a way-too-enthusiastic voice called.
It was YūYūy. The most popular girl in school, the student council president, and for some reason, obsessed with dragging Lyna into her world of chaos.
“No. Whatever you’re about to ask, the answer is no.”
“But I haven’t even told you yet!”
“No need. It’s always something troublesome.”
“Oh, come on! I just need your help with a small council event.”
“Is it a normal event, or does it involve ridiculous costumes?”
“….”
“Knew it.”
Ten minutes later, Lyna was standing in the student council room, wearing a ridiculous maid outfit.
“YūYūy, I hate you.”
“Nah, you love me.”
The doors swung open, and several students walked in, ready for the “Student Council Maid Café Day.” Free fanservice. Lyna just sighed.
As soon as this was over, she’d go back to her real problem—figuring out how to kill Matsuda once and for all.
