Dynamite-o Five
Meet the brothers.

Meet the brothers.

It was foggy in the city of Bookerville that night. The streets were empty as no cars were out and about. The only sound that was heard was the wind that the fog brought with it. Down in one of the neighboring districts, at Topham St. 861, The Dynamites' household was quiet that evening.

The parents were out for the evening, leaving Jermaine and Leon, who wasn't there at the moment, in charge. Gerald hated it when they did that. Running off and leaving him to do their jobs. Before they left, they said they were going to grab some pizza for dinner and be right back, But two hours had passed and they still weren't back, and Gerald knew the nearest pizza parlor was only a 30 minutes drive.

In the living room, Myles and Hollis were on the couch watching TV, while Gerald sat in a chair that was placed by the window that looked out into the front yard.

Myles had fallen asleep using the arm of the couch as a pillow, while Hollis was slouching on the couch with most of his body on the floor.

With his stomach grumbling, Hollies decided to break the silence. "Where are they at, we have been sitting here for an hour or so and they haven't come back?"

"I don't know," Gerald replied. "They should be here any minute now."

"You said that 10 minutes ago!"

Gerald let out a loud groan of irritation. He pushed his hand against his forehead, feeling a headache coming on.

"Sorry." Said Hollies, slouching farther down onto the floor.

After a couple of minutes, the sound of a car pulling into the gravel driveway was heard.

"Finally," Gerald said, jumping from his seat to look out the window.

He pulled back the blinds to perk outside. Despite barely seeing because of the fog, he could make out two tall figures approaching the front porch. The sound of two pairs of footsteps and the jiggling of keys gave Gerald a sense of relief.

Moving to the door, he unlocked it before the Oldests could do it themselves. As he opened the door to confront the two, Jermaine and Leon pushed past him and stormed in, carrying boxes of pizza and sodas.

"Thanks, man. We were freezing out there." Leon said with the naturally deep tone of his voice resonating through every word. Gerald watched as Leon carried the pizzas into the dining room. Jermaine slipped a slice from one of the boxes as he walked by.

Still angry for the two arriving late, Gerald slammed the door, waking Myles from his slumber.

"Hey!" Said Jermaine with a mouthful of pizza. "What the hell is wrong with you, slamming doors and #hit?"

Leon walked back into the living room, swallowing something quickly in his mouth. "It seems like someone is a little mad."

"Damn right, I'm mad! Where have you two been, you both been gone for hours?" Gerald said.

"Well, We-"

"Thank you for your input, but I'll like to hear from Maine, thank you. Maine?"

Finishing the slice of pizza, Jermaine held up what seems to be a rolled-up newspaper. "I can explain, but first, everyone gathers around. We had a meeting in the dining room. I got something I want to show y'all."

"Can we eat first?" Hollis said with a bit of whining in his voice. "I haven't anything since you left out."

"After I get done presenting." Said Jermaine, Sternly. "It shouldn't be that long of a meeting, so you'll be eating soon."

Everyone gathered together in the dining room and took their usual seats. Line up on the table was the four closed pizza boxes that contain their dinner. Hollies fought back the feeling of his empty stomach to grab a slice.

Jermaine took the seat at the far end of the table, where their father usually sits. Clutching onto the newspaper in his hands, he began the meeting. "Remember when our dreams were to become actual musicians instead of just simply playing at talent shows and stuff?

Everyone nodded.

"Well then, brothers, our dreams had finally come true!"

With that, he threw the newspaper to the center of the table. Gerald, Myles, and Hollis leaned forward out of their seats, looming over the article. The front cover caught their attention.

On the front, was a picture of a large mansion, almost looking like a castle. The mansion seems to have been built with a Victorian-era style to it. Its interior was painted in dark grey, with a red roof and stand glass windows to tie it all together. From what it seems to be from the photo, The yard could be enormous and resembles a meadow.

Above the photo, bold in large text, was the title:

The Pennsylvania State International music festival coming soon!

"Music Festival?" Gerald said.

Jermaine nodded. "That's what It said. At the festival, a competition will be held for the best musical groups. The prize will be 100 million dollars and the winner can get a signed contract with one of the producers who is hosting it."

Hollis Sigh. "Pennsylvania. I heard it got the best scenery around."

Myles eased back into his chair. "Yeah, that's cool and everything, but don't you think that's a waste of time going halfway across the country just to attend a festival that attracts hippies?"

"Yeah, I'm with Mill on this one. It doesn't seem necessary." Gerald said.

"Oh, we didn't even mention the best part," Leon said. "There's even going to be both a video game and an eating competition as well."

"A video game competition you say?" Myles said, rubbing his chin. "Well, I guess we can try to see how the music competition turns out."

"Well, in that case," said Gerald, standing from his chair, "Let me start cleaning off my old bookshelf." He smiled, "I never read those things, anyway."

"What for?" asked Jermaine.

"For the trophies," smirked Leon, "The trophies that he ain't gonna win."

Gerald stopped dead in his tracks and turned to face Leon. "Excuse me?" He asked, slightly offended.

"Let's be real here for a second," Leon continued, "You and that weak ol' stomach of yours can't handle a slice of New York pizza on a good day, let alone win an eating contest."

"Says who?" Challenged Gerald, "I'll have you know, when I was young I could clear the kitchen pantry, school cafeteria, and an all you can eat buffet, all on the same weekend. This contest will be like slipping into a familiar pair of socks."

Leon stared in disbelief. "This coming from the guy who threw up an entire meal last night, just because he had one extra helping of mash potato?"

Jermaine chucked a bit, then cleared his throat. "Okay, you two, back to the topic at hand. Since, it seems that we're all on the same page, it's a good idea that we plan our trip and practice on our songs before it's time for us to hit the road."

"When do we leave for Pennsylvania?" Hollis asked, already imagining the beautiful scenery

"Today's Tuesday and the festival doesn't start till two weeks from now,"

"So, with that in mind, we only got, like, 10 days to practice and come up with a plan, right?" Leon said.

"Right! But, no need to worry. Everything should be ready by the time that happens." Jermaine replied.

"That's very smart of you, Leon, unpredictable of you indeed," Gerald said, noticing Leon mouthing a swear word towards him. "But, it appears it seems that we had forgotten something important. Very important.

"What's That?" Jermaine asked.

"It seems that you had forgotten that we had been booked to perform at other gigs for the next two weeks. We're supposed to be playing at a beach party this Friday, down by the sea coast."

"Oh, yeah, I sure did forget. Crap."

Jermaine said. He started to stretch his jaw, thinking of a plan. It didn't take long for an idea to form in his head. "Don't worry, we'll attend the beach party. We'll attend them all."

"How exactly?" Asked Myles.

"By going on tour, obviously," Jermaine said, smiling big. "Just think about it, every gig could give us the chance to practice."

"And it can help boost our popularity," Leon added.

"And there'll be a lot of food, So, it will be a good time to practice on my eating," Gerald said, licking his lips.

"Make sure to bring a bag. You know, just in case you have another misfortune." Said Leon, chucking.

"If it does happen, I'll make sure to do it in your direction."

Jermaine stood from his chair. "Welp, I guess that's our meeting for the night. We should probably head up to bed after dinner and get some sleep. I want us to be up early in the morning, so we can practice before we head out on our small Tour the day after. So, with that, I conclude this meeting with dinner!"

"Finally!" Hollis cheered. "What kind of pizzas did we get?"

"Plain cheese in front of you, Hollis," Jermaine replied.

As Hollis opened the pizza boxes to retrieve his dinner, He stooped in his tracks and stared into the box. Something was wrong.

Jermain noticed Hollis' mood change."What's wrong?" He asked.

"Someone already ate half of the slices," Hollis said, disappointed.

"Leon, you wouldn't-" Said Jermaine as he turned to see Leon's chair empty.
