A short Prologue

The great mountain of the valley, one of the 15 largest mountains of Avalonia, one of the 3 great continents of the world. Avalonia is a vast mountainous continent, yet with many plains to explore. It is not known for certain who were the first living beings to explore this continent, but what is truly known is that over the millennia, a specific being established itself as the dominant race in the region: the dwarves.

Throughout the years, the dwarves founded great cities, specifically in mountains. There's a saying on the continent: no matter the size of the mountain, surely a dwarf resides within it.

As you may have imagined, dwarves are not the only beings to inhabit this continent. The second most populous race, which also established many kingdoms and cities in the region, are humans. There was a time when dwarves and humans fought each other for dominance over Avalonia, but that was millennia ago, and currently, they rarely engage in conflicts. Many human kingdoms and cities are mired in debt and corruption, which has always prevented them from establishing themselves as the dominant race in the region. Therefore, many human cities have decided to only engage in beneficial trades with the dwarves.

Elves are the third most widespread race on the continent. Many say they settled in these lands 3,000 years ago, coming from Eternum, a continent known to be predominantly inhabited by elves. This continent is smaller than Avalonia and is very distant, making exploration by other races nearly impossible. In Avalonia, the elves decided to settle in the vast forests and valleys to the south. There, they built vast and powerful cities. Elves rarely get involved in conflicts, but they hold a certain disdain for other races.

The continent also attracted powerful beasts and monsters. It is said that in the extreme icy north of the continent is where powerful and majestic ancient dragons live, perhaps older than the elves themselves. Unfortunately, orcs, goblins, trolls, Minotaurs, and various other horrific and dishonorable creatures have also settled on the continent. They are a terror to the trade routes farther from the great cities. In recent years, orcs in particular have been raiding small and resource-poor human towns and villages.

Dwarves are also having problems with goblins, who are becoming bolder and more populous. They constantly kidnap women of various races simply to reproduce. A few months ago, a large dwarven army was fighting against a horde of goblins near the frozen coast. Several dwarven kingdoms united to permanently end this plague. But this endeavor comes at a cost, and even though the dwarves are very rich and powerful, they still need essential minerals like iron and copper found in the mountains inhabited by dwarves.

Besides these wars and raids forming on the continent, there is a looming threat forming. A threat so powerful that it would make the great dragons in the north succumb.

And this threat is getting closer and closer to everyone's gates.
