The forest was silent and wind blew through its thick brush, the ambient noises of flowing water, buzzing insects, chirping bird and... growling wolves. The silence was broken by the loudest laugher any of the forest dwellers ever heard, it was inhuman yet so human at the same time... the cackling came from a fox running from a pack of wolves... the fox was running faster than any of the wolves could keep up with and slowly they were beginning to reach the end of their stamina pools.
The fox however was completely fine and even more energetic... this beast wasn't normal. The foxes body was 2 meters in length and its tail was massive and fluffy, around 3 meters in length, but what truly set this abnormal specimen apart from regular foxes was the mask covering the top half of its head, the razor sharp teeth and claws in wielded and the fact that the beast... monster had a [Mana core].
[Mana cores] allowed the user to surpass normal members of its species in potential and evolutionary wise. The cackling canine looked back at the wolves in their near exhausted state and seeing as their about to reach their limit it abruptly turned to the right and darted into a bush with the wolves tailing closely behind. The chase continued for another 5 minutes when the fox was about to reach a clearing with a lone tree at the center, it leapt over a bush and was out of sight.
The wolves also leapt over the bush as well, but the fox was nowhere in sight. The moment the wolves were about the land on the soil, white roots burst from the ground either impaling or restraining the canines, suddenly dozens of white serpents slithered out from the various bushes and boulders of the clearing, the snakes didn't waste any time as they all started biting into the immobilized wolves, injecting them with various venoms, [Paralysis Venom], [Blinding Venom], [Bleeding Venom] and more. The wolves barely stood a chance.
The only one to now fall was the pack leader, they managed to bread apart the roots holding them in place and even killed 7 or so snakes... the scaly corpses slowly disintegrated into light particles. The pack leader was staring down the fox which had stopped to sit, watch and laugh at the wolves demise, without thinking the wolf charged at the fox, staring into it eyes with murderous intent... the wolf was confused why the fox wasn't moving and the wolf also realized the foxes eyes were covered by the mask... the wolf wondered how it was even seeing.
The foxes laugh abruptly stopped and the air was filled with a serious aura. To the wolf, the fox just disappeared, but it had actually leapt into the air and dash dashed downward toward the wolf, it stopped in time to try and dodge, but something impossible occurred as the fox seemed to step on an invisible surface mid-air and at high speeds repositioned itself behind the wolf and delivered the killing blow to the wolf with a quick bite to the back of the neck... those jaws weren't just for show.
The sickening crunch echoed through the clearing and the fox resumes it laughter as the various snakes began feeding on the deceased wolf pack, the fox began walking toward the tree at the center. The tree was massive and resembled a weeping cherry tree, but the trunk, roots and branches where shades of white and gray with a silver glow to them and vine like veins exuding a orange and yellowish glow seeping out, the leaves were shades of yellow, orange and red with a gold shine to them, apples, oranges and berries grew on its branches. The only way to describe the tree was that it looked sacred and holy, but in reality it it\s one of the most deadly things to ever exist.
The fox reached the base of the tree and climbed a top one of its larger roots and abruptly fell asleep. From the tree hollow, seven snakes slowly slithered out, their scales were shiny and white, unstained by the soil and blood, yellow and orange eyes locked onto the other snakes feasting on the wolves as they slithered over to get their fill, the 7 snakes slithered at full speed as they wanted to taste the fruits of their labor, they ignored their soreness and forgot the pain they experienced when killed by the alpha.

[You have killed Gray wolf Alpha, you gained 100XP, You gained 50DP]…
"Todays haul was good, what do you think Kit" a disembodied voice asked the fox, but was only met with a yip in response before it fell asleep again.
"Not very talkative today I see, Okay... enjoy your nap buddy" They said to the fox, but got no response.
The individual looked at 1 of 2 screens that appeared in their perception.

"I could spawn 4 Masked foxes or I could max out my snake count... I'll spawn 2 Masked Foxes and 11 White Snakes" the figure said to the screen as the DP dropped from 220 to 10. From the tree hollow sprinted 2 Masked foxes which promptly began running around with the energy from just being born and then began bothering the other fox, 11 snakes slithered out and settled by the foot of the tree for a bit before slithering to join their brethren.
"Things are starting to look nice around here" they said to themselves as a screen popped up displaying a small spherical orange gem. Congratulations on maxing out your first monster type... your White snakes now have the opportunity to evolved into Armored, Swift and Constrictor forms... the cost of your snakes has been reduced by 5DP. You have reached lv10 and have gained the new monster [Shade Crow] for 15DP.
"Oh, something new to play with... don't mind if I do" The core mischievously said to themselves.
[Meanwhile at a nearby village]
On a big board full of papers listing various quest and jobs, was a paper requesting adventures to investigate some horrific laughter coming from the nearby Dark woods and a reward of 20 silver and 100 bronze for completion... A young woman in a priest attire tore the paper from the board and brought it to her party.
"Hey, why don't we do this one... sounds easy enough" the girl said to a young man in knights armor.
"They are paying a lot just for an Inspection job... I say we take it" the rouge said.
"Could be fun" said a man wielding a mace.
"Alright we set out for the forest tomorrow" said the knight as he sharpened his sword.
