Chapter 2: I look foward to working with you!

Chapter 2: I look foward to working with you!

While resting, I look around to see the progress that I have made in my digging frenzy, it is now to the point I can no longer call this room a simple little pocket in the ground like before, but instead I can now properly call this space of mine a large room instead, when I try to expand the room any farther Personality stops me.

“Master you should stop this room is a perfect size for the entrance of our dungeon” Personality cuts in before I can do anymore digging.

I immediately stop and look behind me as to ask Personality “what do you mean.”

Personality instead of reading my mind, knows me well enough that, they know exactly what I’m thinking by just my actions alone, they reply in an almost eye rolling manner, “Master this room is the perfect size for an entrance to our dungeon, and entrance is a place that people will always pass when they’re enter our dungeon. It will be important to give a good first impression to people who enter our dungeon.”

Well I guess that does make sense since I would want people to come inside my dungeon to experience lovely fairytales coming to life and experience our enchanting tales or scary folktales that’ll leave’em shaking in their boots, and oh oh there’s also the myths and legend that make their mouths gap in shock and awe at their power.MUHAHAHA!

I start fantasizing about all possibilities, before Personality speaks up again snapping me out of my trance. “Master since the dungeon will be the face of our dungeon I hope you pick out something fitting for our dungeon.”

“No worries” I speak up confidently, and strike a heroic pose, getting caught up in my own excitement I continue on speaking, “I have just the perfect place to have as our entrance”

I chant out my skill in an excited singsong type of way.

“ ~Lore floor expansion~ ”

A list of floor types appears in front of my eyes. I take my time to read though and bask in the list of magical locations.

List type: default

Desert: 250 DP – a normal desert.

Plains: 250 DP – a normal flat plain.

Forest: 250 DP – a normal forest.

Mountain top: 250 DP – a normal Mountain top.

..

List type: Fairytales

(Additional enhancements will cost more DP on top of base price)

Magical woods: 450 DP – designate this floor as: woodlands of magical nature, who knows what sort of predators may lurk in its shadows, available enhancements: disorientating fog, enchanting meadows, (locked), (locked)…

Enchanting forest: 950 DP - designate this floor as: forests of magical nature perfect for mischievous creatures to play around in, available enhancements: disorientating fog, (locked), (locked)…

(LOCKED)

(LOCKED)

…..

Magical library: 450 DP - designate this floor as: a library of magical nature houses many books, available enhancements: shelves, (locked), (locked)…

As I look though the list I start to lose enthusiasm. “How come am only restricted to fairytales, actually why is everything locked off!?” I stare at the screen with deadpan eyes for a while, all the default landscapes are unlocked, but for the truly important things I only have access to three of them, their not even that creatively named either. “even though I know so much more” I sigh out.

“Master the things which are locked indicate that you are not the appropriate rank or that the thing in question is severely out of your price range, lastly it might be because it is outside of your power to control, for the time being.” there is Personality once again always quick on the information as usual.

Satisfied by the information provided by Personality I set out to finish what I started, I focus on Magical library since it was exactly what I had in mind and it was in my price range, it was perfect, after a little bit a message pops up in my face. Set this floor as Dungeon entrance?

I immediately answer yes.

Suddenly the entirety of the room is engulfed by a white light that lasts for quite a while before fading away and revealing an absolutely breath taking sight for an book worm like myself.

The whole library is only one floor, but it perfectly gives off that atmosphere of being a local book store rather than a library due to its size. In a way it’s not what I envisioned but it has that quaint homey feeling that one wouldn’t get in a large library, to put it in a way this book store has that sense of security, akin to a nice quiet corner, with dark hard wood floors that reminds one of the color of dark coffee, a very light cream wall that is close to being white but is dulled to the point that it was not distracting and 2 chandeliers adorning the middle left and right of the ceiling illuminating every corner of this large room.

The only gripes that I would have is that there is an apparent lack of bookshelves which would complete the scene and the front counter in addition to the chairs and tables are very worn out, not to the point that they were unusable but to the point one may get a splinter if they were very unlucky.

The sight of a small library come bookstore, radiating a warm atmosphere, even manages to get a “Wahhhh!” from the usually stoic and monotone Personality.

Not missing a beat I take a quick glance at how much DP I have left.

Name: N/A

Gender: true Dungeon

Race: dungeon heart

Dungeon rank: 2

Dungeon Points: 51/500

Skills: Lore Dungeon; rank 1

Quickly I go see the Bookshelves available for purchase, I quickly glance though the catalog immediately buying the cheapest book self, which cost 10 DP a pop, buying five, spending the rest of my DP on the shelves, I place one on the north most wall, to left (if one was facing the south wall) of the counter and where there is a door leading to nowhere, two on the right most wall (if one was facing the north wall), one to the right of where another door leading to nowhere is (if one was facing the north wall) and one in between the counter and door .

After placing the book shelves in place, the full glory our book store starts to shine and glow in its full glory. Ahem, minus a few a few book shelves because I was low on DP.

While I was waiting for my DP to replenish Personality once again speaks up on their own and this time they start to ask me some questions about our newly found bookstore.

(TIME FOR Q&A TIME WITH ??? & PERSONALITY, YAY!)

Q: what is a library?

A: it’s an amazing place, that holds everything that there is to know about the world. At the same time it also holds countless information about numerous other worlds, both real and fake. It also allows people to barrow its knowledge no matter who they are.

Q: where is all this information?

A: uhmm, well they usually come in the form of books but I don’t see any options for making books at the moment.

Q: do these books require upkeep and maintenance?

A: yes they do books do require maintenance but it’s usually a case of treating them gently, dusting them and properly storing them.

Q: who does upkeep and maintenance in a library?

A: usually librarians and the Curator or head librarian would usually handle this

Breaking out of this back and forth Personality makes a speculative comment, “so Master would be the Curator and I would be a Liberian?”

When I think those words, “yeah that what it seems like, I mean were going to be known for spreading the wonders of books and literature, so I think what you said would be and apt description of us”

Personality takes a pause before speaking up again, “yes I look forward to working with you Curator” they say with a sweet tone to their monotone voice.

Curator? While I wasn’t expecting Personality to stop calling me Master, it was always a bit of an unconfutable thought in the back of my head since I never really considered myself to be their Master, but I always thought of us as companions or co-workers, so them calling me Curator puts me somewhat at ease now when I think of speaking with them. I also kind of like the ring of it, Curator.

“Yeah it’s nice working with you ….” I try saying the same thing back to them but I can’t seem to find the words, I would usually call them Personality or if we were taking on new roles, I would be calling them Liberian, but that also doesn’t seem right either, I go into deep contemplation thinking what to call them.

….

“Curious”

…..

“Companion”

…..

“Voice of reason”

…..

“Helpful”

As I think more about what to call them, I go over what I know about them the traits they have and what they were like when I was spending time with them,  there was only one option that popped into my mind, “yeah… it has to this”

“I look forward to working with you… Alice”
