Inside a certain mountain where the firepit was kept ablaze..
The conversation kept on into the night, the pack had already returned. It brought three dead deer this time. Still nothing new has been brought to the "table".
"Sorry... >.
"Now that the fog of illusion is slowly clearing, beast and monsters might start showing up at your doorsteps, and then later on, maybe the adventurers if they're lucky enough to get past those beast and monsters that survived the illusion and still lurks the forest surrounding the mountain. And with the incoming influx of beast and monster, we can strengthen your minion here!" it excitedly claimed while pointing at Isshin. Isshin on the other hand has not stop swinging the wooden sword even though he had already done more than two thousand swings.
'How sure are you that monsters and beast would start appearing?' skeptical about that proclamation, I asked it.
"I got here, didn't I?! And these other minions that you got! How else were they able to be here? And this one is rated as Rare!" it exclaimed and went hovering above the pack of wolves lazing about after their hunt and stopped above the alpha.
'Isshin? Where did you come about this wolf pack?' I inquired about Isshin's eventual encounter with the wolf pack.
"Creator, they were just about there at the bottom of the mountain when I encountered them." Isshin responded.
'Hmmmmm...' then I pondered about a thought about Isshin getting caught in the fog of illusion.
I then checked the Dire Wolf's stats to see if it developed some kind of mental resistance because I haven't seen any kind of resistance on Isshin and pretty sure with his kind of body he'd probably have it.

'Huh? He's Level 64? But during their invasion it stated that the level of threat is 15-30... did it average the total level of the participating parties?' I checked most of the other wolves, most were level 15-18 only a few were actually level 19-20 and no one else higher than 20. Welp. 'Should I also give the alpha a name? It's also Rare, I mean it should be since it's a Dire Wolf. OK! I have decided.' I quickly contemplated.
'Alpha, come here.' I commanded it. It got up and went up at the front of the pedestal. 'I shall bestow upon you the name, Barathrum!' I uttered like it was a ritual, actually it is kind of a ritual. But then a popup appeared.
Maximum number of "GUARDIANS" has been reached!
Need 30 more levels to gain additional GUARDIAN slot.
"Oh yeah! Until you reach Level 50 or 10 floors you can only have 1 guardian boss level." chimed the tiny little fairy that I really want to squash right about now! "But..! Let me do this first..."
'Do what?!' getting furious at her I could just squash it by compressing mana around it and suffocating it, that might kill it.. or would it? I was getting frustrated with it when a popup appeared once again.
Some of the SYSTEM Functions have been unlocked.
- Floor GUARDIANS can now be assigned to each floor
- Floor BOSSES can now be assigned every 10th floor level
- Creating New Floors in now available
- Dungeon Points unlocked
- Dungeon Store unlocked
'Whaaat?! Why did you not do that from the start?!' I really wanna squash this little shit!
"Well I did not get the chance to.. and I was distracted by your Homunculus minion. So... let me explain what the Floor Guardians are. They should be the strongest creature in a floor level. They are considered champions. This one here, the alpha could be a floor guardian only if he's not a Dire Wolf. But since the SYSTEM Functions were still unlocked when you subjugated them it kind of by pass the requirements to be able to subjugate the alpha. The Dire Wolf could pass for a Boss Guardian actually. But you already have this Homunculus."
'Not my fault for not being able to get the SYSTEM to function as it should, and that may have worked for the better. And maybe, you shouldn't have even arrived so I could exploit it.' I retorted, smirking inside.
"How inconsiderate.. T-T" it cried. "But if it was so you won't be able to access the other floors. You won't be able to advance." explains the little annoying fairy.
'I don't mind really, I'll make a single floor full of boss level minions. Hahahahahaha! that won't be a bad idea!' I responded menacingly. I mean that would be a fun idea. Make a fucking grinder, where everything coming at you would be murder machines.
"BUT----BUT, THAT'S NOT HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE! AND IT WON'T WORK! I've red something like that from our historical books. A dungeon killed it's supposedly assistant and it was not able to unlock the remaining functions of the SYSTEM. It summoned dragons, no, IT was actually the one that brought fort the dragons upon this world. The dragons that it summoned eventually grew stronger and stronger and could no longer be confined on a single and limited floor and they destroyed the core. All kinds of dragons then escaped and wreck havoc upon the world. It was when the Gods and Goddesses and other such deities battled the dragons--" It went on to tell an insightful history.
'I know of that history, about the dragons and the gods. No need to lecture me about history. Though I did not know that the dragons were dungeon borne. That's some interesting information.' I said, a little convinced about the dragons being created by a dungeon. 'Okay you got a point, but it's pointless as it had really nothing to do with the incoming predicament that we'll have. Do you have any other thing to offer beside some insightful information?'
"What? Information is knowledge, and knowledge is power! Don't underestimate the power of information!" it retorted and the proceeded to pull something out it's tiny pouch. When it finally pulled it out, it was a parchment or several of them. They were even larger than the fairy. "Here, take a look at these." it tried to lift the parchments in front of the pedestal to no avail when they were larger that it.
'Give them to Isshin.' I said, Isshin then went to get the parchments out the the tiny thing's hands. Isshin didn't need to show it to me in front of the pedestal. I can see it from his perspective. I just hope that doing this is not intrusive. Anyway, I saw a drawing of a creature in one of the parchment, a Goblin.
'Goblins are sentient beings, no? Are they also dungeon borne creatures before?' I was curious. I have also hunted goblins in other dungeons before, but they can also be seen in civilized settlements of the Greenskins. So I was a little confused.
"Yes! They were from a dungeon too, originally. Then the party of greenskins that sieged the dungeon and shattered the core but capturing this creatures first to make slaves out of them. Just like the Dragons, although they get weakened once they got out of the dungeon. But they can adapt and get stronger once again. Same goes for the goblins." answered the fairy.
'Well that's useful information..' I kind of agreed.
"See?! Information is power!" it gleefully chimed.
There was also another blue print, it was of the Kobold. The weakest and lowest of the draconians. Just like the goblins, it has virtually no combat prowess. It's basically a laborer for the draconian race. Doing most the menial works and labors for their draconic overlords. 'I think I no longer have to ask how some kobold were seen in some human and other civilization's settlement. Maybe they don't merely toil for the dragon overlords but for themselves. So that they may survive in this harsh world.' I thought as I remembered seeing them in the last city, Krak Kodiak, I was in. They could also be seen in the slums of the capital. Hardworking creatures they are.
Then I saw something I don't typically encounter in most of the dungeons I've been into, Golem Constructs. Although this one looks a little bit smaller than the ones that's really worth hunting back then, towering golems that drops gems, different kinds of metal ores, and the most treasured, it's mana core. Mana core are highly valued, especially for mages and wizards and any other magic wielding lots.
Two of the blue prints were of that of beast kind. One is that of a wolf which I already have. The other one is a Hell Hound, which doesn't really looked like your typical Canine for something that's a Hound. It doesn't even have furs, more of a hardened and thickened skin. They can be seen in usually in volcanic dungeons. So these two blue prints serves me no purpose, maybe at least for now.
Then the rest were schematics of rooms. A barracks, an armory, a smithy, a training hall that's more of an arena(maybe designed for the combatants of my dungeon), and lastly was the core room. If I have to choose the golem blue print, I wouldn't have any need to have the barracks, armory, and smithy. But I don't like this golem construct, this one is pretty weak. Constructs in general were also slow, making it easy to maneuver around them. Unless you have a really really strong golem summons that deals area of attack damage then that would be a different story. And make them elemental golems, that would totally kick ass.
'Do I get all these blue prints?' I inquired incase that I am only given one choice from the blue prints. I am guessing that the schematics for the rooms I can get all.
"No, you chose only one of these, the schematics though is all yours." it responded.
'I guessed right.' simple things makes a simple man happy. 'If I choose one right now, can I also get to choose the other later on?'
"Of course, every five level you can choose any blue prints and schematics from the choices, by the way, the choices are actually given to me, your assistant, not to you directly." the fairy declared.
'Well I am level 20 now.' I responded instantly upon hearing that bit.
"Reaaaalllyy?! Let me seee!" exclaimed the thing and quickly did something like analyze or observe skill, something that appraises some things or whatever you may call it. I never had to bother getting that skill in the past though, because I have, or had, a party member that does all the appraisals for our party. 'Stings to think back onto those memories, I wish I could just erase some of my memories but alas I cannot.'
"WOW! You really are! Well then, first you have to choose from the first choices." it declared.
'Can't you just give me the other choices so that I may have more than just these for choices?' I replied with a question.
"You can. But don't you wanna see how things unfold if you choose from the choices right now and then see what else might the choices of blue prints turns out? If you choose to have a more choices right now, they might be all just Common blue prints."
'There's a possibility that I get to pull an Uncommon or Rare blue prints?' I asked it. Isshin was an Uncommon Homunculus summon, but somehow also Legendary. Maybe he's more like of a boss type summon rather than your typical Homunculi just like how the alpha is, Common canine minion but being a Dire Wolf makes him a Rare variant of canine. 'Then what could legendary blue prints be? Maybe the likes of Dragons. Imagine Dragons, in my dungeon. One could only be a believer. Its time will definitely come.'
"Of course! Who knows, maybe an Epic or a Legendary might pop up!" said the fairy seemingly happy at the prospect. "I haven't had the opportunity to serve a dungeon that produced a Legendary."
As we were on the middle of our discussion the warning popup alerted me. The wolves' ears also perked up and they all got onto their feet and readying to run into the entrance to apprehend the intruders.
Warning! Dungeon Invasion Ongoing!
Threat Level (Difficulty) Undead Horde (51) 15-30 (Easy)
Even if they have the superiority in numbers, it's only easy on difficulty. The pack might be able to this alone. 'Go. Destroy the Undead.' I commanded the wolf pack and they sprinted to where the undead were shambling. 'Isshin, go with them but try no to get involve as much as possible. Those that would breakthrough from the pack, destroy them, only provide assistance when they are getting into trouble.' I asked Isshin to ease it on assisting the pack. I want the other wolves to get as much XP they could get.
"SEE! The influx of intruders will just continue to pour in, I think we can make it possible." excitedly claimed the tiny fairy.
'Yes. Yes. I see.' if I had eyes I would be rolling them, but alas, I do not have. Anyway... there's no ghosts or wraiths among this group of undead which is great because I have yet to acquire any magic related combat spell to give to my minions. Well... problem for another day. For now.. speaking of ghost.. queue in the music! In my head.
