Faceslapping 101

Faceslapping 101

"There's been a misunderstanding, Mark... he invited me! I bet that if we catch him he'll be paying the bill in full."

Looking at his cheap clothes, the waitress soon understood that her chances of squeezing any money out of the student in front of her would be slim to none, but get Mark to settle the bill shouldn't be that difficult. Both of them ran towards the entrance where the whole group was saying their goodbyes while waiting for their respective cars.

"Mister Mark, I believe there has been some sort of misunderstanding." The waitress began to speak.

"What misunderstanding? If this guy said he didn't have any money don't believe him and just get him to settle the bill, he's a proper hunter after all." Mark replied without giving the young woman a chance to continue.

"But I didn't eat anything! Please, tell her." Uriel was on the verge of tears.

"Why are you acting all humble now? Didn't you act like a big guy and announced in front of everyone that you were buying dinner for everyone? Right guys?" He asked his friends who were still beside him.

"Yeah, I even thanked you for your generosity before leaving." Bert blatantly lied following Mark's lead and leaving Uriel in utter embarrassment.

Now Uriel was absolutely certain that he'd been set up, but there was nothing he could do. If he refused to pay he would be taken to jail and the waitress would have to pay for everything. There was also another issue, because now everyone present was staring right at him with an awkward look.

"What a bunch of losers, If settling the bill is too much for you, I'll pay for everything." Cassandra said out loud showing how displeased she was.

"Fine! I'll pay, How much is it?" Uriel gave in to the pressure after realizing that no amount of truth would beat the dirty scheme prepared by Mark.

"The biggest VIP room was reserved," The waiter stated, being careful not to say who was the one who reserved it. "and everything served was a la carte, the exact amount would be 63.750 credits plus tips."

Uriel's face went paler than when he fought against the skinwalker, that amount of money wasn't insignificant, it was actually almost his entire profit from his previous incursion where he risked his life. It was true that he would be able to pay it now, but it would be a great hit for his finances. Although for a short while, he had been fantasizing about buying new clothes, eating properly and moving out of the college dormitory, but all of that was about to go down the drain. That money was nothing but cash pocket to Mark and his wealthy friends, it wasn't like they couldn't pay it, but they wanted Uriel to remain in the bottom of society to keep him as far away from Tina as possible.

"I'll give you my card, but don't dare charge a single credit on tips!" Uriel growled more than said.

"But Mister, I served your group to the best of my abilities, were you dissatisfied with my service in any way?" The waiter acted all sweet now that Uriel claimed to have the means to settle the bill.

"And you have the gall to ask!? I didn't eat anything, I never even saw you before you asked me to pay and I never even invited anyone to eat or drink with me." Aggrieved, Uriel handed the car to the disheartened waitress. She had indeed served the whole group to the best of her abilities and she even endured the groping hands from Mark's friends until the rest of the guests arrived. The least she expected was to be properly compensated, but she understood what was going on and left silently with Uriel's hunter card fearing that he might go back on his words and simply not pay anything.

If looks could kill Mark would have dropped dead beneath Uriel's irate glare. Well, some looks could actually kill but, unfortunately for Uriel, his trait had nothing to do with his eyes.

Just when people were about to leave a roaring sound drew near as the most luxurious car anyone there had even seen parked right in front of them, blocking Mark's car. When the driver climbed out of the cars everyone present was left astonished.

The most gorgeous brunette came out, wearing a long silky red dress with a side slit that emphasized her beautiful long and toned legs. Her sunkissed skin made her look impossibly pretty and exotic at the same time.

"Why didn't you answer the phone all this time!? Don't you have a heart!?" The hot brunette scolded.

"Do you know her?" Bert asked Mark, to which Mark did nothing but shake his head.

"I'm sorry?" Uriel managed to say under his breath, not knowing if she was actually addressing him.

"You should be sorry! You don't know how much trouble you caused me." She said in a sorrowful pout after recognizing Uriel's voice from the phone. "This is an extremely urgent matter and here you are playing hard to get. You even made me come all the way here, if you really wanted me to come there are other ways..." Realizing her blunder, the woman suddenly fell silent. The heavy contrast between her mature charm and her shy demeanor made her a true sight to behold.

"Hey miss, I think you're mistaken, you must have confused this loser with someone that actually matters. If you want to hang out, I just happen to be free today, we could go inside the restaurant and get to know each other. My father is the owner of the Jacobs company, I'm sure someone of your caliber has heard of it." Mark said with his chest puffed out, both in pride and in an attempt to look more manly.

"Dude, Mark is so awesome, just look at him go." Tom whispered in awe, to which Will replied, "Yeah, he's such a ladykiller. I wish I had his charisma."

"Mister Sage, do you know this guy?" The woman asked him with sharp eyes that could freeze someone on the spot. Mark couldn't bear the thought of 'Urinal' being addressed as 'Mister Sage' by a beautiful woman, especially after she completely ignored him, but there was nothing he could do without further embarrassing himself.

"I- Uhm..." Not knowing what to answer, Uriel's tongue got stuck. For a glimpse of a second he was about to nod, but he thought it better. "No, he's no one to me, he's just someone who attempted to dine and dash."

"Then I have nothing to discuss with you." She directed an indifferent gaze towards Mark, then continued speaking with Uriel. "If you're so kind to accompany me for dinner I'll tell you everything about the Mapple corp. expedition we're planning." Said the beautiful young woman with a mesmerizing smile.

Now that Uriel met her in person, even if she was a saleswoman he would have felt inclined to listen to what she had to say, but Uriel wasn't the only one present and Mark was able to heard her mention something about the expedition.

"You should have said that you wanted to go to the expedition before. If you have dinner with me I'll let you in on this incredible expedition planned by the Mapple corp."

"Oh really? And who even invited you? I work for the Mapple corp. and I've never even heard of you before." The brunette scoffed. "Let's go Mister Sage." She said turning her back on Mark and walking inside arm in arm with Uriel leaving everyone present stunned in place and Mark reddened in both anger an shame.

"That went well..." Cassandra laughed.
