"Stupid bitch. I can have any woman that I want to, and you are no exception." he says, walking up and before anyone moves to stop him, he strikes his hand out and wraps it around my throat. "I want to know what it is like to fuck a beast and I almost get hard looking at you, so you will do. And choking you seems to do it for me."
I was shocked and horrified and I had no idea what to do in this situation. How had he moved so fast. Will someone please force him to release my throat. This is rather more painful than I imagined.
'What is it that you want to do Zayne?'
'How quickly can you manage it? Can you make it quick enough that I can escape the situation I am in?'
"Get off of her you sick bastard!" Cat says and lunges at Rex. It seems that he thought choking me would make everyone stand down. Has no one ever told Rex no before? I flick my eyes over at Jestin and Fowley to see how they were reacting to what he was doing. I see their faces pale, but it didn't seem as though they thought this behavior too far out of the ordinary.
As Cat lunges at him Rex grips my throat tighter, brings me to him, and licks my face. "Even if I can't have you now, I will have you. I was going to forcefully fuck Kay's bitch, but they seem to care about you some too so you will be good enough."
As he is saying this Cat lunges at him.
"Cat stop!" Vita says. "You can't touch him while working here." she says angrily.
"Yeah, break that rule." Mama Tia says hearing the commotion and coming to put a stop to it. She sees what Rex is doing and approaches him a war hammer in her hand.
"Drop the girl elf or we will be cleaning all of your bits off of the floor for the next few weeks." she says and swings it, stopping it a mere breath away from his face. He flinches out of reflex, dropping me unceremoniously onto the ground.
Cat drops to the ground and scoops me into his arms, getting me away from their feet. I hugged him gratefully.
I see Kay sitting and whispering a spell to himself. It seems as though he was waiting for an opening to hit him.
"Kay, repeat after me." Mama Tia says forcefully.
"Yes ma’am."
"Also, hold your palm out." she says and grabs Rex, twisting his arms behind his back. She begins shouting out words to Kay, but it seemed that my hearing was going in and out. Oh dear. Weakness seems to reside once more in my body.
'Zayne, this feels like the opposite of helping me become an adventurer again.'
'I trust you Zayne.' I say.
My eyes were fluttering slowly, as if everything was blinking around me. Through my wavering vision I see Kay cast a particularly strong and possibly complicated spell. Wonder what it does.
"There. Now you are blocked from coming in here. If you try you will be electrocuted. Thoroughly."
I try to say that she is terrifying but my mouth isn't moving. Well, that's unfortunate. I was finally getting my feet underneath me only to be strangled. This makes me feel rather saddened. I am sure that I will quickly bounce back.

Rex feels a sense of irritation at being thrown out of the establishment. But more than that he was proud. He had felt a bit smug on Dwarsday when she hadn't shown up to class. When she hadn't shown up today as well, he felt as though he had won. And he wanted to gloat.
"Do you have a beast-girl fetish now?" Jestin asks.
"Or strangulation?" Fowley chimes in.
"Who knows. But it was fun watching Kay and Cat. They were so pathetic there weren't they.”
"Haha, yeah super pathetic." Jestin says.

"Wish we could have had more fun." Foley adds.
Rex thought the two of them were just saying what they thought he wanted to hear. It made them seem stupid. Or maybe they really were stupid. Rex didn't know, and he didn't care either.
"My favorite part was when you licked that bitch's face. Haha, she looked horrified. It was hilarious!" Jestin says.
"Did you see the way she looked like a rag doll when you dropped her. She totally went limp."
They all laughed about that instead of talking about how they had gotten kicked out of a tavern that they saw as beneath them. Nothing needed to be said about that. They only wanted to talk about the things that made them feel superior.
"Oh, and it isn't about a fetish, it is about exerting my dominance." Rex tells them.
"Ohhhh that makes sense. I like the way that you think." Fowley says, nodding. Rex didn't care if that made sense.
"Can't wait to see Kay tomorrow. I hope he tries to seriously attack me and that gets him banned from becoming an adventurer. Haha."
Jestin and Fowley give one another a look behind Rex's back, quietly communicating that they do not like where this is going but it was their duty to remain faithful. Sometimes, they truly hated their duty.

My body burns, shivers, causes me pleasure as well as sweet relief. I don't know if this is what being purified means, but I hope this process goes faster. I tried to wake up during the time that Zayne was changing my blood, but I seemed to be completely unable to. How dreadfully inconvenient.

The tavern was off-kilter after what just happened. They hated seeing the three of them walk through the door and they hated feeling as though they were unable to lay hands on them. They loved Mama Tia coming in and ending things, and they loved seeing Kay performing such a complicated spell.
Cat? Well, he hated himself for not tearing Rex limb from limb, from disemboweling him carefully enough to show him his insides as he dies, slowly, painfully. He wanted to protect his loved ones. Having failed in the past caused him no end to the pain that he felt. He never wanted to fail his party again, and here he was, stopping because he was told to.
To be fair, whether or not she knew it, Vita had put a touch of a spell in her voice, physically restraining Cat. When had she learned to do that? How was it strong enough that he was unable to break free of the command.
As Amaya dropped like a rag-doll, he caught her before her body hit the ground. He once again found himself cradling her in his arms. He brushed her hair out of her face, and loosened her clothes around her neck and chest a bit to be able to see the extent of the damage that Rex had done to her. A ring of purple was already developing along her throat.
Cat bit back a scream upon seeing that discoloration. This had to stop. They had to do something, they needed her to bounce back enough to at least be able to defend herself. He did not want her to have to go through life afraid because of creatures like Rex.
Upon arriving in her room, he gently laid the girl in bed and covered her. Once she was covered with the blanket he crawled onto her bed and laid upon her chest. He knew that a cat's purrs helped in the healing process. It took him a moment to find the correct frequency, but once he did he purred for her until he feel asleep.

Kay laid in his bed staring up at the ceiling. For some reason he felt that it was his responsibility to provide energy and positivity to those around him. He finally had friends and people in his life that cared about him back. Oh, there had been people in his life that he had cared about before, but none of them had cared about him in return. He wanted these people to smile, he wanted to improve their lives.
It was getting harder to keep everyone smiling. They were a light-hearted group for the most part, living life like it was meant to be enjoyed. And Kay loved that, he wanted to live life like that too! Playing, learning, growing, dressing cute somedays, and handsome others. Well, okay he wasn't handsome yet, but he firmly believed that someday he would be handsome as well as pretty! It would open up a world of clothing options!
That life felt a bit more distant though. He wanted to go through classes with Ami! Instead, she was doing her best, trying to live, and getting pushed around. This wasn't okay. Nope, not okay at all! He had to learn more, better, faster! He would go to his classes, train with Crestin, and maybe he would be able to get his hands on some books as well. Ones that he hasn't read before. Anything and everything that he could do, he would.
Kay wanted to be like the adventurers in the stories. Smart, brave, clever and bold! He wanted to protect people! He wanted to beat up the monsters like kerpow! and make sure that none of them were ever able to leave the dungeon. Also, if he was able to kerpow monsters then people like Rex would be even easier to beat up! Of course, he would only beat up monsters and people like Rex. No one else, nope, no sir.
While lying in bed Kay also thought about the kind of person he wanted to be. He came to the realization that he really wasn't sure the kind of person he wanted to be. For the longest time all he had ever thought about was being a mage. Using magic! Lightning! Fire! Ice! Gale wind! Whooosh, bang, pow, sparkle sparkle.
But after having seen the way that Rex had behaved, he realized that was the way that a lot of adventurers behaved, as if the world owed them something. It made them think they had the right to take whatever they wanted. He didn't know the kind of man he would end up being, but he knew that he wanted to be a good one. He wanted to respect people and treat them like, well, people! He thought that such things should be obvious, but it seemed as though it wasn't. He puffed out a little sigh. It had been a long day and he had classes in the morning.

Mama Tia gathered Hillie, Emmie and Vita together. George joined in too. After what happened she realized that she had done wrong by her girls. They felt as though they weren't allowed to be violent with patrons. And for the most part, that was correct. She was running a nice establishment. If the girls treated this place and its patrons as though they were special, it made sense that the patrons would treat it like it was as well.
"It seems I have done wrong by you all. I know that I have a zero-violence policy. And to this point it has only been broken by two people, each one of them I threw out and created a barrier against them. It seems that this made you believe that under no circumstances are you all allowed to attack a customer. Throw that idea out of your heads. If anyone treats one of our staff or patrons like that again, don't hold back. Just make sure that you do not catch anyone else in the crossfire.
If you damage furniture and decorations, that's fine. Those can be replaced. People can't. Now please don't think that I am reprimanding you. You all performed admirably. Please pass that on to Cat, Kay and Ami as well."
"Do you think that she is going to be okay?" Hillie asked. It was clear that she felt guilty, as though she had not shown enough care to the younger girl, like she was putting Rex, Jestin and Fowley above her well-being.
"No beating yourself up Hillie. I am sure that she will be fine. So far, she had proved herself to be a strong and courageous young lass. And Hillie, we all rely on you to keep a cool head in any situation."
"We all love you!" they say and embrace her. They loved one another more than most families.
"I feel so bad that I told Cat to stop!" Vita wailed. Often playful and flirty it was outside of Vita's regular behaviors. It truly showed how much she really did care about others. "Do you think that she will forgive me?"
"Of course she will!" Emmie said, embracing Vita.
"Don't you worry, I put money on the lass being up and out of bed sometime tomorrow. Just you watch!"

Kay woke up and got ready for class. It was hard to pull himself out of bed, but he managed it with renewed vigor. He was determined after yesterday. He would be so strong that no one would ever dare to mess with him or his friends again!
On his way down the stairs, he decided to pop into to Ami's room and see how she was doing.
Cat was still curled up on her, purring the best that he could.
"How is she doing Cat?" Kay asks, clearly concerned for his friend. No, not just his friend. His very best friend in the entire world!
Cat turned his head to be facing Kay. Even as a cat Kay knew that he was not looking good at all.
"She hasn't stirred once since she collapsed. Not a single time. It seems that she is barely breathing.”
"She's probably just tired. I mean, wasn't she the same right after she was poisoned?"
Cat shook his head. "No Kay. She wasn't. She barely woke up then, but you could tell that she was still fighting. Now? I can't feel her fighting anymore."
The room went silent as the weight of those words sunk in. Neither of them said it, but they were both thinking it. Amaya might not make it out of this alive after all.
