Fenrir
I lie my head down on my paws in my avatar as I watch the odd looking screen in front of me showing the war between the nation above me and the opposing nation. A screen provided to me by the Vampires who are sitting a few meters away from me watching it as well.
Not really sure how I ended up like this. The Vampires just kind of offered out of nowhere to show me the battle since they were apparently supposed to keep tabs on it anyways, so here I am. Watching it with a Prince, an Emperor, and an Empress ranked cultivators.
Rather odd how things end up sometimes.
It is nice being able to see how those void bombs are being used, along with their effects in battle. Because I think I might actually have a new idea in terms of using them in my dungeon now from seeing this.
I continue watching as the two sides fire at each other with the Fallen constantly coming out on top over the hybrid’s forces. Which is only logical, considering the massive gap in numbers between the two sides of the battle.
The only reason Leon’s forces are managing to hold their own a little is because of my weapons.
An excellent showcase of them to future prospective buyers.
Although…
“Why do they both seem to be holding back?” I can’t help but ask the Vampires as Dawn lands on my head.
The Prince answers with a slightly bored expression on his face, likely due to the battle not being very interesting to him, “Neither side has officially declared war yet, so right now they’re fighting over who will meet the other in negotiations.”
I blink at that, staring at the Vampire for a second before turning my attention towards the screen.
‘That’s certainly a look,’ Dawn comments, sounding amused at the look I’m sending the screen right now. One that expresses rather clearly how absolutely stupid I think this battle is.
‘They’re fighting with who knows how many potential intruders dying outside of my dungeon just for a negotiation,’ I complain to her, feeling like this is an absolute waste of cultivator lives. After all, why not just throw them away into my dungeon if they’re just gonna throw them away anyways?
‘That’s…’ Dawn mutters before pausing for a second and seemingly not finding anything she can say in their defense as she continues, ‘…their way of doing things?’
‘It’s a stupid way of doing things,’ I point out with a light snort.

The battle on the screen continues on for a bit with several of the ships on both sides being taken down. And after about twenty ships on the Fallen’s side and fifteen on the hybrid’s side are down for the count, they finally stop firing.
“This is a rather pointless tradition if you ask me,” the Prince says, his chin resting on his hand as he sits on a seat made of blood watching the screen. “The Fallen are a very arrogant race of warmongers, and will always try to get the upper hand in terms of their own ego no matter what. But if they do by some chance not get the upper hand, they’ll fight more fairly in their war. Which leaders to this start of every war they begin.”
They sound stupid to me, but I’m gonna go ahead and not say that out loud since it’s looking like they might end up taking control of the area my dungeon is in sometime in the future. And it would probably be a bad idea to go around insulting them, even if they are stupid.
Especially if they really have an ego that big.
Anyways, the Vampires, Dawn and I all watch as two flares shoot up from the Fallen’s side, the leader of the Fallen looking way too happy for some reason. Then both sides of the battle send a single ship to meet together, following which a large platform made of shadows appears in between the ships.
Delegates from both sides jump onto the platform including the Prince and Leon and they get to negotiating. But at this point I’m not all that interested.
I was mostly watching because of my weapons being used, so now that they’re not fighting anymore, there’s not much point in watching now.
So I shift my attention back to my dungeon, just looking at the intruders going around in it. Which are quite a lot more than normal. Something that the Vampires mentioned was due to the war. Because Leon and his people want as many battle ready cultivators as possible.
And while that makes sense, what confuses me is why he was willing to lose half of his ships in that little negotiation battle when he is already in need of cultivators.
Unless there weren’t that many cultivators on those ships?
I guess that would make sense. Although I still wish he wouldn’t just waste the cultivators that were still on the ships, because even if they didn’t have many on them, they still had some. I saw them after all, and they would have to in order to be able to keep the ships running and fire my cannonballs – the name the Dwarves who came into my embassy called them.
They basically just wanted balls of metal filled with void mana that would release the void mana in an explosion when they impact something with more than a set level of force. A rather basic enchantment, yet still incredibly lucrative for me considering the orbs they exchanged for it.
One of these days people are going to run out of orbs to trade with me though. Which is not a day I’ll be looking forward to.
There aren’t exactly very many places in the world to get void energy after all.
Not like it matters all that much anymore though, considering I have access to the void itself. So all the orbs are doing is giving me a free boost with all the energy just collected into a compact form for me to devour at once unlike the gradual process of gathering it myself from the void.
They’ll still be able to trade me monsters after they run out of orbs at least. So I can look forward to that even after I lose my supplies of orbs.
My thoughts are interrupted when the Vampire says, “Oh? That’s unexpected.”
I turn my attention back to the screen where I find Leon and the Prince shaking hands with a grin on the Prince’s face and a frown on Leon’s. Then the two go their separate ways.
“What is?” I ask, genuinely curious now.
The Vampire Prince turns to me and answers, “It looks like the city lord actually managed to impress the Fallen somehow.”
I blink at that statement in my avatar.
Huh? But… didn’t I just hear the Fallen Prince insulting them not too long ago?
What happened while I wasn’t paying attention?
