Prologue

In hand

Voices of agony and pain had showered the entire room not too long ago. The reason? Just a few scant hours ago, a group of Terrorists had hijacked the cruise, setting it on fire and invoking chaos all about the ship. But they had somehow been taken care of by the special security teams assembled by Shin. Who was now standing in the crew deck, holding the head of an obviously dead terrorist. Engulfed in the scene revealed to them, instead of feeling relieved, the crew could only cower in fear. Who would not fear in such a sight? Just before their eyes, a young man in his age of 17 had just carried out a killing spree of five terrorist in the area, while holding the head of one.

This scene was normal in horror movies one could watch. However, seeing it live up front, could someone think of it as normal? Each of them could only watch him in awe. However Shin didn’t notice any of this since his objective was complete, casually dropping the disembodied head onto the floor.

“Hallway Clear.”

“Pool Clear.”

“Roger, Engine room Clear.”

*Pizztt*

“Positive.”

Several sounds rang in his ear phone as he walked through the door, probably from the team of professional bodyguards. Fortunately, Veronica’s info helped a lot in this incident. Shin was able to learn every terrorist profile, and can identify them all easily because of her.

“Captain’s Quarter Clear.” he said.

This cruise held an elegant Ball Party, a party solely for the success of Unicorn Corporation’s Royal Road. After the confirmation on Veronica’s info the company hired a special Guard Company, which is the Silver Shield Company. Apparently this agency only hired men above the age of twenty according to law, but Shin was a special case.

After visiting a certain room Shin continued to walk to the sundeck, that was just about the 10 meters ahead of him. He decided to get some fresh air and view the sunset. Upon arrival Shin held his hand on the steel barricaded to prevent someone from falling. Just next to him was an orange lifebuoy. Breathing in the fresh air while looking at the beautiful sunset, Shin rested his elbows in the railing. A voice came from behind.

“A job well done.”

Shin looked at the old woman, and shook his head.

“Victoria helped a lot, that’s why.”

Saying so, the woman nodded. It was the truth that Victoria, was the one responsible for their victory. Noticing Shin watching the sun setting in the vast water upon the horizon, she slowly approached the steel railing.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” she asked.

In fact Shin really did like it, but there were more pressing matters.

“Yeah…” he answered absent-mindedly, but his eyes were now on the necklace in his right hand.

Closed Eyes

The cold, yet gentle breeze caressed my cheeks as I slowly breathed in, the scent of the flowers scattered in the field. In this vast land of flowers, I was about to meet death. Yes, death…

I could only ask myself, ‘Is this the end?’

The sharp pain from the wound had dulled to an aching sensation. It still hurt like hell though; I was unable to move even a muscle without feeling any intense pain. Blood was endlessly flowing out of my body. Spitting out the blood in my mouth, I couldn’t admit that it tasted sweet but I was at least assured of the fact that death might not be bitter. In fact, the prospect of it almost seemed welcome.

Bracing against the pain swirling inside me, I knelt on the ground, since I could no longer withstand it. In this position I felt a lot better. The red haze which fogged my mind suddenly cleared up, and I felt an almost brilliant clarity as I gathered my thoughts.

Feeling the red crystal ball, I remembered something. I clasped it in my hand, and embraced it. I couldn’t tell much about it, not having identified the item yet, but I was sure the thing was special. Although I could not shake this sense of worry, but it wasn’t because of the possibility of it being lost… Was it because I was about to die? or was it because of the pain?

Those questions lurking in my mind suddenly reminded me of that smile.

‘Come back okay?’ she had said to me as we parted.

That’s right, that girl. Her sunshine like smile, so warm. Her soft, white and gentle hands waving goodbye through the sunset.

How did it come to this?

Ahhh… Why couldn’t I be strong?

If I had just been strong enough…

Hearing the footsteps in front of me, I came back to my senses.

‘Ahh, it was coming, my death.

The sword and shield I had wielded a while ago laid abandoned on the ground. That’s right, a sword and a shield; I used to be a Paladin of the Royal Army. I raised my head and saw the beauty of the sunset, now clad in the reddish orange light.. and now my fate, Death.

The silhouette completely blocked my view of the sunset, raising its Claymore which was incandescent in the reddening sunlight.

I closed my eyes…

’Ahh… Yeah, Here it comes… At least I saw her, her smiling face in the sunset.’ I thought.
