"Masquerain Silver Wind quick!" Drew shouted to his pokemon. Needing this attack to land and decide it all.

"Wow! Would you look at that ladies and gentlemen? Masquerain's Silver Wind is pushing Lapras all the way back!" Vivian announced, throwing her hands in the air to exaggerate the moment.

Drew's points: 47%

Solidad's points: 60%

Time remaining: 3:40 minutes

"Lapras use Sheer Cold and freeze the stadium." Lapras cried out, emitting a chilling blast. The ground turned to ice and the once powerful Silver Wind was reduced to snow.

Drew's points: 39%

Solidad's points: 60%

Time remaining: 3:25 minutes 

"And once again, Solidad has managed to turn a sticky situation to her advantage. Will this be a repeat? Will Drew lose once again? Keep watching and find out!" Vivian jumped and twirled, causing the crowd to go crazy.

Lose once again. It's exactly what I won't let happen. I only need two more ribbons to make the Grand Festival. There's only three contests left. So I have to win at least two of them. I don't understand why Solidad would enter this one? She's my friend and is supposed to know how important it is for me to make the Grand Festival. She's good enough to win the last one, so why now?

I turn to look at her grinning face. Of course she's amused by this. The clock shows only two minutes left and I'm on the losing side of this. If she wants to play with ice, then we'll play all right.

"Masquerain use Hidden Power on the ground!" Masquerain launched her attack, breaking the ground, propelling ice shards everywhere.

"Lapras!" Lapras cried out as the shards cut her. But I'm not done with my assault just yet.

"Masquerain now, use Silver Wind full blast!" Masquerain launched her Silver Wind, unleashing a brisk whirlwind hurtling towards Lapras. Within the attack, ice shards encircled it, causing a combination move.

"Uh oh! Drew has unleashed a spectacular combination! Utilizing his own gorgeous Silver Wind with Solidad's attack. It's no wonder he's made two grand festivals. How will Solidad and Lapras prevent this attack?" Vivian watched in awe.

Solidad called out to Lapras. "Try and dodge it!" But it was to late. With the non-stop barrage of ice shards hurting her and now the combination. There's no where to hide. The combination hit, knocking Lapras onto her back.

Drew's points: 39%

Solidad's points: 51%

Time remaining: 1:30 minutes

Not much time left. I need to keep the assault up. "Masquerain use Hidden Power!" Masquerain launched her attack pushing Lapras further back.

"Lapras use Water Gun!" Solidad commanded, hoping to destroy my attack. 

Just what I wanted. "Masquerain use Ice Beam!" Masquerain fired the attack at the Water Gun. Freezing the attack mid-air, it allowed the Hidden Power to fly through and strike Lapras.

Drew's points: 39%

Solidad's points: 41%

Time remaining: 58 seconds

Still not enough. Solidad looked me dead in the eyes and winked. "It's not over just yet, Drew!" Jeez she's crazy. But she's right, only seconds left and she still has the lead. 

She lifted her hands up. Great she's going on the offense now. "Lapras use Surf then freeze it with Sheer Cold!"

"I cannot believe it ladies and gentlemen! We're now witnessing first hand Solidad's iconic 'freeze-all' technique." Vivian shrieked. 

Oh no. I've seen this technique first hand. Nobody is able to counter it. I'll need to do something crazy if I want to win. And I got just the thing.

"Masquerain use Hidden Power and cushion them with Bubble. Once you've done that freeze them with Ice Beam and launch them!" Masquerain followed my command and unleashed her attack.

Lapras had finished the beginning stage of the 'freeze-all' technique. Riding the massive wave, she began to freeze it. Planning on crashing into Masquerain. My attack intercepted hers and an explosion happened.

The smoke engulfed the whole stage. "My gosh ladies and gentlemen. Two powerhouses collided, and we can tell just how desperately these two wanted the ribbon." The smoke started to clear out. 

Buzz!

"And you all know what that means! Times up!"

I turned my head to the screen to see the results.

Drew's points: 20 points

Solidad's points: 21 points.

Solidad's picture appears on screen with the word winner on it. I can't believe it. I lost to her yet again.

I waited outside the building tearing up. "I can't believe I lost again!"

A hand gripped my shoulder. "Hey you did great today. Don't discount any of that." Solidad console
