INTERLUDE VIII: Error Log

INTERLUDE VIII: Error Log

A fine gossamer thread is brought into being. It is grasped by a green-tinted crystal limb and deftly incorporated into a silken scroll. As the sleek fabric is painstakingly woven, variations in color build up to form markings: text framed by illumination, unique in design for each scroll.

This humble servitor finds it necessary to bring word to your most august self.

The severity of this event is red. Report follows:

— A critical error was raised when an imprint avatar was flagged for removal, but removal failed. Secondary investigation indicates that the failure was due to inhabitation of the avatar by previously flagged entity, designated “Het”.

— Entity “Het” has been identified as the entropy spirit core of the second barrier guardian, instance thirteen.

— Prior reports generated in response to entity “Het” include six hundred ninety events of yellow severity and eight billion, one hundred seventeen million, forty-four thousand, seven hundred ninety-one events of green severity.

The scroll complete, the translucent weaver rolled it tightly and affixed a wax seal. Red. The first of its kind. A moment later there was only the scroll, no evidence that its maker had ever existed.

A signal, conducted along the foundational truths of that space, echoed outwards. An ancient being, for the first time in half a century, opened her eyes.

Only a few hours later, a second scroll bearing a red seal appeared.

“Another, already?”

Some of the leisure left her pace as she worked to make herself ready. She had not expected to be awakened so soon, and had not yet achieved the breakthrough she had hoped. Still… there was work to be done.
