"Strange how?" Kane immediately asked, his brows furrowed in concern.
"Honestly, I'm not sure," Ella shrugged helplessly. "There's a mass of… something floating around in her body, and it's both repairing any damage it finds, as well as strengthening her body anywhere it passes. I imagine she'll be at least one blood core rank higher than her true rank after it's passed through her entire system."
Kane blinked in surprise, yet also with a hint of relief. "That's… good?" he questioned with some confusion. "Can you really not tell anything more, though?"
Ella shook her head, "The neuralizer wasn't designed for scanning, so I've only got basic information to work with."
For a moment, Kane sank into thought, but then he simply decided to share Ella's discoveries with Luna, before thinking any more about it.
Luna's eyes widened, and rather than focus on the unknowns, she focused on the thing that interested her the most. "It's making me stronger?!" she grinned with excitement.
Kane rolled his eyes, "Yeah, but we don't know if it's doing anything else, so keep an eye on it, alright?"
Luna pouted a little because of Kane trying to put a damper on the good news, but she nodded obediently, "Yes, Master." Then she appeared thoughtful, "Well, regardless, if that stuff really does come from that bald fucker's bracelet, I guess he's earned a little forgiveness."
"Maybe you can start by not calling him 'that bald fucker'," Kane smirked.
The catling cried out in an aggrieved tone, "Like you care what I call him!"
He could only chuckle in agreement.
For a moment, they fell silent again, as they continued lying in each other's arms on the metal floor of this unknown place filled with enemies.
Then, Kane decided to check out his own storage ring. Or, rather, Ella's ring, which she had given him just before she sacrificed her body.
After asking Ella about how to do that, he poured his mythic energy inside the ring. Within moments, the inside of a cube appeared in front of his mind's eye. It was the size of a few tens of square feet.
Curiosity sparkled in his eyes as he looked around this space, although there wasn't much in it right now.
All he could see where the clothes he had on him when he fell into Alfheim, a chest that supposedly held some items of import to Ella, and finally, the second most important item to him, after his sword: the CyberStrap.
The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
This armguard computer was important to him for two reasons: first, it held all the stickers he'd gotten from Nina, and second, it might offer him a solution to a problem he'd been thinking about.
So, he used the method Ella taught him and took the CyberStrap out of the storage ring. Holding it in his one free hand, as the other was wrapped around Luna, he inspected the underside, and smiled when he noticed the stickers were still there.
Then, he talked to Ella, "Hey, Ella, one of my CyberStrap's main functions is scanning, can you interface with it to find out more about that mass in Ella's body?"
Ella sounded a little unsure, "I can try, but if this is more technology of your world, then it might not be any better than the low-grade scanners in the neuralizer."
Kane shrugged, "Might as well try."
He opened the holographic interface of his CyberStrap, and created a connection with Ella's neuralizer, after which he allowed her full control of it. He could feel the control he had over Ella through the bond that Mána had helped establish, so he wasn't worried.
Unfortunately, it didn't help much. "Yeah, these sensors aren't much better than my own, sorry," she muttered apologetically.
"Figures," Kane sighed.
Then, he moved on to other matters, "Well, don't worry about it; we'll figure it out some other time. Meanwhile, do you remember what we talked about, regarding me not wanting the neuralizer to have any wireless connections? Do you think you could use the CyberStrap as a buffer?"
Ella fell silent for a moment, as if thinking. Then, she spoke up again, thoughtfully, "You mean… you want me to use your body's skin and nervous system to communicate with the CyberStrap, and have it be the only outside connection, so that I can cut it off if anyone's trying to get access to the neuralizer?"
Kane nodded, "Basically. I know I can modify the CyberStrap to be able to send and receive signals from my central nervous system through the skin, but I'm not sure what the neuralizer is capable of in that respect. Or you, for that matter."
Again, Ella fell into thought, but eventually, she acquiesced, "I think it's possible… but we'll need a little time, and a good place to work…"
Kane felt inclined to make fun of her a little, so he grinned mischievously, "You mean our little love nest isn't good enough?"
Immediately, the feelings of embarrassments he felt from Ella skyrocketed, and she fell silent, causing kane to laugh. Beneath him, Luna giggled as well—Kane had been keeping her looped in on everything he talked about with Ella.
Yet, despite her giggling, there was a glint of annoyed jealousy in her eyes. She always believed herself to be closest to Kane, but now there was some bitch actually living in his head. 'I can't wait to become his desire…' she thought to herself, determination flooding her body.
Feeling a little frustrated and eager to get underway, Luna quickly wriggled out of Kane's arms and stood up with a graceful flourish. "Anyway, isn't it about time we get going? What's the plan, Master?" she said, after she was standing and showing off her beautiful body for her master.
But Kane wasn't done yet. He smirked and reached out to pull the catling back into his arms. Luna yelped, while Kane explained, "Actually, there's one more thing we need to talk about."
He softly caressed Luna's lower belly, brushing across the tattoo there, and causing her to shiver, "It's about this connection between us… tell me, have you checked your cores since we had sex just now?"
