Ch 14: Dragonslayer awakens pt.2 (v2)

Xabe felt he only took a few steps- huge few steps as if the space between him and the fallen Dragonslayer were folded to shorten the distance. As he reached out to the coming blast that was heavily combined from the power of three heads, he felt as if he was somehow connected to the energy.

The blast was like a lightning meteor crashing down to annihilate the entire land, but… the flames were pushed back to a sudden halt. It continued to ascend until it could almost create a giant wall. The Flash Guardian riders couldn’t even believe what they were seeing.

With a grunt, Dreyagon lifted his head and widened his eyes to take a good look at what appeared to be Xabe. The slayer gazed at the boy’s back as he faced what could be their doom while holding back the great, continuous, blast from Devastrigon. He sensed the boy’s power growing immeasurably.

After slightly pulling back his left arm, Xabe’s yell grew into a powerful roar as he shoved back the flames at the three-headed dragon. It caused an enormous explosion that made Devastrigon fall and crash-landed down from the mountaintop. Thick smoke started to fill in the air.

The explosion resulted in a shockwave that slightly pushed the flying Flash Guardians. Willy, despite the thickness of the smoke, couldn’t help himself but take a peak. “Holy fucking berries, was that the Dragonslayer?”

The Destroyer realm was jolted by the sheer force of the deflected blast followed by the familiar echoing roar. The three knights summoned their weapons to thrust on the round bedrock platform to avoid getting unbalanced postures.

Through the eyes of Devastrigon, the smoke began to divide until they saw a tiny silhouette come forward to the mountain cliff. However, it was clear enough for the three knights to see a vivid red scarf flowing along with the wind.

What they were witnessing was as if a god had possessed a random weird young boy. His burning yellow eyes darted with glare, but this time, he didn’t utter a single word. From his senses- his instincts… he was dead serious.

The three Destroyer Knights were too stunned to speak.

----------------------------------------

Xabe’s mind was clear as air. He didn’t think about his family back home, missing lunchtime, or his overstretched red scarf. Not even his death. The next thing he did was shut his eyes, only to see the same heroic figure again. The boy didn’t even mind asking any questions to himself. He caught a glimpse that the figure held what appeared to be a flaming sword stretched over at his right hand. That was when he pulled out his short wooden sword and pointed it at the fallen Devastrigon.

As Dreyagon finally got up on his feet, he gazed at Xabe knowing that his powers had finally been triggered by a sudden outburst.

Following his senses, the “possessed” MaXabiere slowly turned around to Dreyagon, who didn’t bother to say anything at all. The boy then turned his focus on the dragon again as it yelled from the great amount of pain beneath him.

The boy leaped in midair for a short period before launching himself downward. His short wooden sword ignited with the outstanding color of bright orange. As he continued to descend, the first thing he did was slice out blazing slash attacks that dashed straight into both of its wings- no matter how big they were.

After that, Xabe pierced his flaming sword right straight into the chest, resulting in several faults cracking all across the area, causing Devastrigon to howl in pain.

----------------------------------------

The Flash Guardian riders took a closer look at the boy. “Does that answer your question?” Hugo tossed his head to Willy without even looking at him.

Willy commented, “It looks like he’s the one assisting us.”

Hugo then pressed his communicator. “Giuseppe-”

“I know,” Giuseppe interjected through comms. “Now it’s the time to constrain Devastrigon and stop the Destroyer Knights.”

It was just in time after the Grifforth took care of the remaining undead dragons by obliterating them with the plasma cannons. Giuseppe witnessed the boy, he pondered, Does he already know about his potential?

To answer such a question, to put it simply: Xabe was only at the “baby phase” before, but as danger arises and his senses grew stronger, he learned to follow his instinct. There was no clear explanation as to why, he just does it.

----------------------------------------

Xabe gritted his teeth to shove his igniting blade deeper, but he sensed the chaos head coming full charge at him. Before the large horn reached Xabe, he managed to leap up back at the mountain. The boy started to feel something as if he used all of his energy from damaging its wings and chest.

Hearing a creaking sound, Xabe quickly turned to his short wooden sword dropping debris from all the heat. His flaming eyes even widened by the time he saw the upcoming colossal tail that was about to crash him. Luckily, he leaped to reach the clouds in a single bound, outrunning the length of the huge tail, and breathed out a roar that was so powerful, that the Devastrigon sunk into the ground. The trees surrounding the dragon were thrown away by the immense shock of the impact.

Even landing from such a great height, Xabe returned to the top of the mountain while glaring at Devastrigon.

Inside the quaking Destroyer realm, the three knights held on for dear life. “This is certainly an unpleasant surprise,” glared the Destruction Knight. “I’ve never seen such destruction from a mere boy.”

“I can sense the Flash Guardians coming,” growled the Chaos knight. “So much chaos, but not the one I desire.”

The two looked at the Death Knight. They had dedicated their entire mortality for this very moment: to rise the great creation of The Darkened One to fulfill the vision they had sought for so long.

The Death Knight understood the situation quite well. The boy was in their way of fulfilling that vision if they won’t do something immediately. “This will be the death of us, although it’s not yet the end. Let us get more serious- do not forget… the Dark Superior is waiting.”

----------------------------------------

The flying Flash Guardians started orbiting Devastrigon. “Prepare the sealing spell while I extinguished the flames,” commanded Hugo to the other guardians via comms. He raised his arms to summon another dark storm that reached the size of the three-headed dragon, resulting to suck out the flames that could be powering the monster up.

The Flash Guardians at the front row of the saddle summoned their white rifles and started aiming at the fallen dragon below. It was specially designed and carved with a rune spell that, after charging its blue energy, will blast a construct of a lasso spell to tighten the mouths and limbs of Devastrigon- resulting in limitations of movements.

The guardians at the back row cast a spell to summon a global shield around themselves in case there’s anything that would potentially harm them.

After the rifle was all charged up, they shot out blue streaks that later formed gigantic snake-like bullets that tangled around the claws, the mouths, and the limbs by locking them together.

The Grifforth floated above Devastrigon after it passed through Hugo’s storm. Its chest began to open to reveal a much larger cannon that shot out much larger blue energy that created an entire dome- surrounding the dragon with no chance of escaping.

----------------------------------------

Dreyagon slowly approached the edge of the mountain as he still felt the pain he hadn’t felt for so long. Handling the power level of Devastrigon, together with the Destroyer Knights, was a much harder task than he could have ever imagined. In his entire life, this could be his greatest challenge yet- but he wasn’t referring to the three-headed dragon though, as his burning eyes only fixed on the boy.

Suddenly, Xabe’s vision began to spin. The image of the constrained dragon began to blur. He may use his instincts well, but his awakened powers burst out way too much for him to handle- a certain disadvantage of the baby phase.

The Dragonslayer became aware of the boy’s vertiginous motion, so he quickly ran and caught him just in time as Xabe was about to collapse. Dreyagon observed the boy’s natural beige skin became pale from all the power he used. He looked over at the short wooden sword which Xabe had dropped.

It was curious how, despite being made out of wood, it managed to harness incredible energy. But that was until Dreyagon caught a glimpse of what appeared to be a rune spell that was carved on the lower part of the broken blade.

Of course, she would carve that, he thought. Abruptly, the ground jolted followed by the sheer roar below. He looked over the chaos to see that beneath the colossal blue dome pulsed red energy. You’ve got to be kidding me.

----------------------------------------

Back inside the Destroyer realm, the Destruction Knight let out a chuckle, “I sensed the weird young boy has given up.”

The Chaos Knight mocked, “Awww, poor thing.”

The Death Knight couldn’t care less about missing all the fun. “We still have the advantage. Our plan is almost a success, it is time to complete it, my brothers.”

Regardless of how much the Flash Guardians could hold Devastrigon, there was only one fact: they couldn’t.

The red energy beneath the blue dome grew larger. Giuseppe, deep inside, knew this could happen. “Activate immediate transport now!”

The flying Flash guardians flashed bright light before disappearing into thin air, by that, they were transported back inside the Grifforth station.

“Initiating force field!” commanded Giuseppe.

A blue force field began to grow around the Grifforth.

Dreyagon made his move after he carried the unconscious Xabe far from the edge just in time before the three-headed dragon broke out with a large bang that devastated the forest with the incredible push from the wing’s forceful wave. The Grifforth was almost affected by the exploding waves, but its force field was designed to withstand such an energy level.

----------------------------------------

Nisr, attending the wounded Flash Guardians from the undead zombie attack, looked up to see the Devastrigon ascending to the thick, dark clouds. Even they felt the blown storm from far away. “That can’t be good,” he commented before pressing his communicator. “Erik.”

----------------------------------------

Over the campsite, Erik pressed his communicator back. “Nisr, status report.”

“See for yourself,” replied Nisr via comms.

Erik and Yrlin exchanged looks. They turned to the weird old lady sitting silently. Erik read her mind, though no thoughts were coming out of it.

The two went outside and saw the Flash Guardians looking up. Following their example, Erik and Yrlin gazed as Devastrigon started flying up. Nisr’s voice came out from the comms. “We got lucky, although there were a few injured.”

“The boy?”

Giuseppe from comms interjected, “He’s with the Dragonslayer. Let’s just say he had one hell of a time, but his down for now.”

Yrlin glanced around. “Where’s Wayde?”

Erik took a deep breath to calm himself. “He’s bringing them to us.”

Yrlin still looked around. “Wow, he even took BF.”

----------------------------------------

There was no stopping Devastrigon as it made its escape through the clouds. followed by a terrifying roar. Dreyagon walked into the ruined area with the boy in his arms. He sensed that Xabe was seriously out cold. The Dragonslayer stopped as he spotted a flying large black griffin that landed before him.

What came down was a familiar face- he wasn’t happy about the situation either. But the damage had been done. Right now, the only thing that mattered was to look out for Xabe. “How did he do?” Wayde asked.

Dreyagon stomped on the debris and walked past him. “Ready your explanation.” He looked over to Wayde before continue marching away from these ruins.
