CHapter 13 The Dragon Slayer

CHapter 13 The Dragon Slayer

It had been two weeks since leaving Mirror castle. In that time Ryuu had been training in dungeons near the city of Bonoris, the capital of Aidern Kingdom. If you looked at a map you’d see that his previous location and his current location were so far apart, it would take three months to walk from one to the other by foot. The reason he was in Bonoris, was due to the fact that leaving Mirror castle moved him to an unfamiliar lake bed close to Bonoris.

Ryuu had no attachment to the previous area, and one place to train was as good as any, so he didn’t mind it.

Lately though his training had been magnified by the skill book he acquired in Mirror castle. After defeating the final boss, a towering mirror image of himself with magnified stats, he acquired the skill book: Skill Copy.

This skill is exactly like it sounds. If Ryuu witnesses a skill being performed, and he then imitates the skill, he can instantly learn it.

Of course there are pre-requisites. It only works on active skills, he must be capable of learning the skill, it doesn’t work on spells, and higher level skills can only be copied if the Skill Copy skill itself had a high proficiency.

After getting the skill book identified at an Item Identification shop, he learned the skill and proceeded to the Monk’s guild.

There he learned every monk skill he could.

The skills Monk’s body and Multistrike were passive skills he learned manually after increasing his vitality and agility stats. Crimson Lotus was a skill he learned off a Monk that knew a few fire based skills, but Crimson Lotus, his weakest skill, was the only one Ryuu could learn.

Overall, most of the skills were ones he had intended on learning manually, but the skill copy ability was too good for him to pass up. Thanks to increasing his Vitality, he had almost four thousand Ki points to use, thus even the most costly of the skills could be used to their fullest.

For his training purposes Ryuu routinely traveled back and forth to the Ilste Plains, a half a day’s travel from Bonoris. The Ilste plains was home to over a dozen undead dungeons. Humanoid targets were the easiest for Ryuu to fight due to experience.

The undead however were tricky though. Pressure point strikes had no effect on the dead that feel no fatigue or pain. The flesh-less skeletons also took little damage from Ki attacks.

Ki is life energy, using it to attack works on the basis that it damages the opponent by disrupting their own life energy. Therefore dead creatures with little or no life energy are all but immune to Ki attacks.

For this reason, monks and the like would usually avoid undead dungeons. However, thanks to the skill, Aurora, Ryuu could change the nature of his Ki to inflict elemental damage instead of life damage.

Surrounded by a pure red light that glowed and moved like a true flame, Ryuu fought hordes of undead with nothing but his fists.

With each punch he felt the crack of his opponent's bones. With each kick, limbs would separate from bodies.

Compared to fighting himself back at mirror castle,  he felt that these opponents were too simple, but the overall numbers was satisfactory.

Using the undead, he experimented and tried out various fighting forms that integrated his new skills.

The flash step was a move he felt was too cheaty. Although there existed a similar move in chinese martial arts that made your opponent look in one direction while you moved in the other, making it seem like you disappeared from view and ‘teleported’ to another position, the skill Flash step was basically an actual teleport step. It could not be used if there were obstacles in the way and the skill had a cool down of a few seconds that prevented repeated use, but it was still a bit much.

Still, in this game with magic and dragons, it was likely a necessary skill for him so he practiced it wholeheartedly and created a fighting style that incorporated it.

Besides training the skills he acquires with Skill Copy, he also intended to train the passive skills he acquired, Monk’s Body and Multistrike. Monk’s body was trained by receiving hits, and as the skill increased, his defense would increase. Multistrike increased by using one skill after another, over and over again. The effect of Multistrike was that it reduced the cool down of active skills. If mastered then almost all of his skills would have little to no cool down, and could be used over and over again. This was a skill he would absolutely need in the higher levels of this game.

Ryuu struck another Death knight and a explosion took place at the point of impact. The force staggered the armored knight, giving Ryuu and opening to axe kick the creature’s skull into pieces.

Crimson Lotus was not a skill most would use even if they knew it. The reason was because the explosion would damage both the target and the user unless the user pulled his strike back fast enough.

Ryuu could strike someone and pulled back quicker than the blinking of an eye, so he received not recoil damage from using the skill.

The fire skill was enhanced by Ryuu’s red aura and his Fire Affinity skill. The aurora changed his Ki to fire, so if he used Ki strike along with Crimson Lotus while wearing Red aura, the effects stacked.

Death knights were level 200 and quite common in this dungeon. They had impressive weapon skills and battle tactics, but all of that was for naught against Ryuu’s experience. The proud and mighty Death Knights that cause lesser men to go weak at the knees became nothing more than experimental material for Ryuu.

The next Death knight that appeared was superior to most in the dungeon, it had a red name above its head, Gregor. Named monsters were naturally stronger and gave more experience in battle. When the empty sockets of its skull met Ryuu’s eyes, Gregor started chanting.

“By the name of death and the spirit of darkness, I command-”

“HAA!”

Ryuu let out a shout that reverberated throughout the halls. The shadow that was gathering around the death knight’s hand dispersed due to the effect of the Ki shout. Ryuu sprinted forward as the knight drew its sword.

As the knight slashed, Ryuu disappeared before him. Suddenly the knight was struck from behind, his armor shook violently and would not stop. The knight felt no pain but the Quivering palm strike had sent shockwaves into the knight’s armor that bounced around inside, dealing constant damage for a few moments.

Before the knight could turn around, he felt weak and collapsed to one knee.

Ryuu used Ki hardening on his fist and Overdrive to increase his stats for a second before punching through the death knight’s armor and using a Red Aura, Ki Strike powered Crimson Lotus in the death knight’s chest cavity. Ryuu pulled back in the same instant as fire poured out from the Death Knight’s mouth and eye sockets. It collapsed to the ground, a smoldering corpse.

Such maneuvers were the combination skills Ryuu had been practicing.

Ki Hardening when used on the skin could defect arrows and swords from lower level opponents. When he increased the proficiency of the skills, he could use on to defend against opponents of the same level. When he used it on his fists or feet, the hardened surfaces, combined with his own technique, could penetrate armor like the tip of a spear.

Overdrive used more Ki than any two of his skills, and that was per second. Until he lowered the cost or greatly increased his Ki, it was a skill that could only be used for an instant. But in that instant, he was far more powerful. That being said, the skill came with a physical drawback. A few moments after using it, the body became exhausted. How long the body was tired was determined by how long Overdrive was activated. Using it for an instant, less than a second, made Ryuu too tired to do more than walk for three minutes afterwards.

Such was the state he was in now, but he was used to it. There is a similar skill in the real world. The body naturally limits the amount of muscles used for any task to only about 30% of the total muscles available. There are a few ways to break this limit, thus greatly increasing strength and speed, but it damages the body.

Overall, Ryuu could inflict heavier damage at a faster rate than most classes, but using multiple skills simultaneously and successively drained his Ki. Unlike mana, if Ki reached zero, the body was left weak and powerless.

In order to survive at higher levels, he decided to train for at least two months with these skills. Not just to get used to them, but to increase proficiency and decrease Ki cost.

After killing ten death knights, Ryuu left for the exit to return to the city. Experience from monsters was good, but experience from quests was better. The best experience was from quests that involved killing monsters. Ryuu found one such repeatable quest to slay ten death knights. This would be his ninth time completing the quest.

“Hey monk. You were to the one hunting Death Knights in Shollor’s Crypt right?” A man wearing a full suit of armor was sitting at the steps in front of the quest giver’s house.

Shollor’s crypt was the name of the dungeon he had been slaying death knights in. Ryuu recognized the man that addressed him. He was a knight that Ryuu crossed paths with several times in that dungeon. Though they never exchanged words, Ryuu once saw him slay a death knight, so the man was not unskilled.

“Yes.”

The knight nodded. He said, “I got a quest that needs another skilled attacker. I saw you in the crypt and hoped-”

“Not interested.” And with that he walked away. Ryuu had no need for more quests. And joining an unknown party was risky.

“Not even if the game was a dragon?”

Ryuu stopped in his tracks and turned back The knight was smiling.

The pair went somewhere quiet to talk.

Ryuu opened up with, “There is no way you are strong enough to kill a dragon.”

The knight smiled a bit and said, “Yeah, I know. But the quest is C rank. Even if it is the highest difficulty of C rank, the monsters shouldn’t be higher than level 250.”

Ryuu nodded. He had taken a C rank quest before and the Mage at the end was only a little over level 200.

Ryuu said, “What are the details?”

The knight remained silent for a moment. If Ryuu was untrustworthy then spilling information like that would lead to trouble, but the knight had requested the help in the first place.

“Well, the quest is an investigation of the badlands of the Ilste plains. Lately there have been reports of monsters behaving unnaturally. I did some research and the details match what happens when a dragon comes. A young dragon marking new territory will force the weaker monsters to submit. It drives the ecosystem crazy for a while. To get the lands back to normal, we got to slay the dragon.”

Ryuu considered the facts, “A young dragon huh. The party would not be just you and me right?”

The knight shook his head, “Of course not. I got a priest and a sniper as well.”

“No mages?”

“I heard magic does almost no damage to dragons and their scales resist more physical damage. But you use Ki attacks right? When I first figured there was a dragon, you were the first person to come to mind.”

Ryuu realized the reason he was waiting in front of that house was to find him. He wondered for a moment how long he was waiting.

Ryuu said, “Alright, I’m in.”

The knight nodded gratefully and said, “Thank goodness. We’ll go to the badlands tomorrow, that alright?”

“That’s fine.”

“Alright, my name is Rocky. Would you like to join my party?”

You have been invited to join Rocky’s party.

Accept | Reject.

“Accept.”

You have joined Rocky’s party.

Rocky nodded and said, “Alright, meet tomorrow at dawn at the west city gate.”

Ryuu nodded and went back to receive the reward for the Death Knight Slaying quest.

The quest itself as well as the quest giver was not widely known. For the knight to have known about it and set up at this position to find Ryuu impressed him somewhat. At the very least he was not an ameteur.

The next day at dawn Ryuu met up with the other three at the gate. The sniper wore a red tunic and carried a great bow that was almost taller than he was. The priest had a calm look like this wasn’t even his first time hunting a dragon, though that might have just been a trait of his personality. They both introduced themselves and seemed relieved that Ryuu at least looked composed.

Ryuu himself was the oldest member of the party. It was not that he was an old man, but the others seemed to just barely be out of their teens. That being said, Ryuu had the feeling of a reliable adult, so even the younger generation had no qualms with fighting along side him.

The journey to the badlands took a detour to a small undead dungeon. The team agreed before hand that if their target was really a dragon, then they had to work on their formation.

Thankfully due to the nature of each member of the party, the assigned roles was clear. Ryuu was the attacker and main damage dealer. Rocky the Knight was the main damage taker. He had on several layers of armor that made quick movements difficult, but he could fall asleep in a dungeon and not die from enemy damage. The sniper dealt damage from a distance and the priest buffed and healed. Thankfully the priest was experienced and had been in dozens of different parties. He knew when to conserve his mana and when to buff. An inexperienced priest will heal a party member every time they get hit. After which he’ll run out of mana and the party will be out one priest.

Against a dragon Ryuu could not repeatedly use combinations skills. Doing so would run his own Ki bar dry and leave him weak. But he had been fighting up to this point without skills, using them sparingly would be fine and skill greatly increase his performance.

After getting a few small kinks out of the way, the group returned to the Ilste plains and continued to the badlands.

“So how are we gonna find this dragon?” asked the priest.

“We don’t. We just have to hunt monsters there for a while and it will come to us.” answered Rocky.

“So that’s how it works.” he replied thoughtfully.

After another hour they reached the stretch of barren land known as the badlands. Ryuu had not been through here yet but he wondered why a dragon would want such a place as his territory.

“Before we go, I have a lunch prepared.” The priest took out several items from his inventory, including a picnic blanket and two baskets.

“Ohh.” The sniper was delighted. Rocky smiled as well. He had not known about it before hand.

Ryuu held his hand out in decline. “None for me.” As a monk in game and a martial artist in real life, he had strict dietary disciplines. Although he could eat a mountain of food and not gain weight in game, he remained steadfast and did not falter.

The priest did not seemed surprised by this, he said, “Will you have some tea then?”

“Ahh. Tea is fine.” Tea is always fine, as long as it is in moderation.

Ryuu was surprised about the skill of the Priest. He must have truly been a party veteran.

Not.

Ryuu had been suspicious about the priest for some time. Ryuu himself had something of a troubled childhood. The memories of the past were something he occasionally enjoyed reminiscing about, but the lessons from his youth were as ingrained into his bones as his martial style was now.

The priest had been in the rear of the group the entire time traveling. This would not be suspicious usually, as the priest required protecting so the back was the safer position while fighting. But while traveling, the center was the safest.

Ryuu felt that the priest had been in the back so that no one would see his mouth move.

When a person is on guild chat or whispering to a friend in Royal Road, the people around him do not hear his voice, but they do see the lips move.

Of course there was a possibility that Ryuu was just being overly cautious. Maybe he was talking to his friends. Maybe the priest was a genuinely nice guy. Maybe the tea he was brewing wasn’t poisonous.

That being said, when the priest handed Ryuu a cup, Ryuu sprinkled a bit of powdered rhineroot into the cup. “I like my tea a bit sweet.”

Powdered rhineroot looks a bit like sugar, but its actual use was the neutralization of most common poisons.

Why did Ryuu have this on him? Because he regularly ingested poison and even carried a few on his person to add to his own food.

The skill proficiency of Monk’s Body increased greatly when he took great damage and when he was poisoned. It was easier to poison one’s self than take great damage, so he got into this habit early on. Being poisoned was very uncomfortable, but as the skill, Monk’s Body rose in proficiency, so did Ryuu’s tolerance for poison. After training with the method every meal for a month, he had to ingest lethal amounts of poison to poison himself slightly. Powdered rhineroot on its own was not enough to cure the poisoned state, but with Ryuu’s constitution it was enough for almost anything.

After a few moments Ryuu could only sigh. With the exception of himself and the priest, everyone was asleep.

At noticing that Ryuu’s sigh was not a yawn, the priest asked, “Did you expect something like this?”

He nodded and said, “That knight is a bit too trusting. If you try anything, I will kill you.”

With that statement Ryuu took another sip of tea.

The priest shook his head, “I heard monks had a skill to remove statuses so I went for a sleeping draft over poison, but to think it had no effect...”

Ryuu nodded. Even if you could cure your own status, if your status put you to sleep, you would be unable to cure it. Ryuu had never tried a poison that induced sleep, but luckily that was one of the poisons rhineroot counteracts. He didn’t know if he would still be awake if he had not used it.

Ryuu asked, “So what now?” Although he declared he would kill the priest if he tried anything, he still had an obligation as a martial artist to see if there was a non-murderous solution.

The priest got up and said, “Now I leave. You won’t be able to wake them up and sleeping draft will keep them out for a few hours. My party will be on its way soon and we will kill the young dragon and take its loot.”

The priest looked around the picnic blanket once more, satisfied before leaving.

Since Ryuu had declared his intention to protect them, he would have to stay with the pair until they woke up. Although Ryuu was not asleep, he was as good as an invalid in this situation.

Before the priest left earshot, Ryuu called out, “Do you really think you can kill the dragon?”

The priest turned back and said, “No problem, it will be over before they wake up.”

After that the priest left for the heart of the badlands.

Ryuu considered what to do next. He could literally leave Rocky there for five hours and the knight would likely be fine. Falling asleep in heavy armor has that advantage. But the sniper would die easier if so much as a wolf pack found them.

From what the priest said and his own conclusions, the priest had a party on the way or already at the badlands. They would kill monsters until the dragon came, and then kill the dragon.

Ryuu decided to ask Rocky and the Sniper’s opinion.

First he removed Rocky’s armor, then he used pressure point strikes to wake him up.

When Ryuu first learned the skill pressure point strike, he was amazed how close to reality the uses of the skill were. On the other hand, if you did not already know of the skills usage, you would either have to learn it manually, or simply remain ignorant of all the possibilities.

Even in the undead dungeon where he fought opponents that had no skin, Ryuu still used pressure point strikes at least once per battle. Not on the undead, but on himself.

Pressure point strikes can inflict and relive status. Striking the right points can increase strength, speed, and recovery on your own body. Due to this application, Ryuu had actually been using this skill more than any other.

It only took a few moments for Rocky to wake up. Ryuu immediately had him cure all. It was expensive, but Ryuu had it for times he poisoned himself too much for rhineroot to have an effect. Without taking it, the effects of the pressure point inflicted status of Increased Wakefulness would dissipate and the knight fall back to sleep again until the draft wore off.

Rocky looked over the picnic and said, “What happened?”

“The priest drugged the food. He wants the dragon for himself and his own party.”

At this Rocky looked around and saw that the priest was nowhere in sight. Next he saw the sniper asleep, snoring loudly.

Rocky made a fist and smashed it into the ground. “Dammit!”

I asked, “So what do you want to do?”

Rocky looked at me and said, “We kill the dragon.”

At this I nod and wake up the sniper.

After an hour of looking around, the trio finds a battlefield full of corpses. In the center is a creature looks like a crocodile twice the size and length of a van. Around it were dead men and fighting men. The priest was there too, his corpse was along the outer perimeter of the battle.

The sniper asked, “That the dragon?”

Rocky shook his head. “I thought it was a dragon, but I guess not. That is a drake.” He had guessed dragon from the reports, but it turned out to be something else.

Ryuu had read many books about dragons within the game. Drakes were cousins of dragons. They were not as strong or large, but they were fierce. This variety seemed to be a red drake. It had no wings but it could run excessively fast. Most importantly, it was an adult. If a dragon was under level 250, it would have to be very young. But 250 was the level of an adult drake. Even if they were the same level, they were not the same strength. An adult drake was stronger than an young dragon, and had far more battle experience.

Ryuu didn’t know how this group expected to easily kill a young dragon, but whatever measures they took seemed to have proved useless against this red drake.

The sniper lifted his bow but Rocky motioned to wait. The battle was far from over and it didn’t look like the drake would lose, so letting this current group’s battle reach its inevitable conclusion could only be seen as just rewards.

Twice during the battle someone tried to flee. Instantly the drake sprinted over to them and ate them. The second time it happened, several people ran away in different directions, but the drake’s short legs somehow carried it faster than a horse, none made it far. Besides killing stragglers, this also served as psychological warfare. The message was, the only escape is death. Everyone fighting had this ingrained into their minds. A tactic of this caliber was something only experienced battle veterans used.

Ryuu and the others were downwind and some distance away. The drake had yet to notice them, they could easily leave.

But Ryuu had no intention of leaving.

The fact that it was relying on tactics meant it could not overpower the group  without them. The battle should also have damaged the drake greatly. Even without the priest, there was no better time.

Ryuu openly declared, “With or without you two, I’m going in.”

Rocky smiled.

After another ten minutes, the last of the other party had been killed. Ryuu charged forward, trying to get the drake’s attention.

The large creature roared and marched towards him. It released a flaming breath attack, a typical skill for red drakes.

Ryuu used Red aura and Flash step. He moved the maximum distance he could to the side, but the size of the attack was too much to avoid. The fire grazed him, but his health did not noticeably decrease. Ryuu’s fire affinity was strong enough that, while using Red aura, his fire resistance was very high. Of course taking the breath attack head on would still take out more than half his health, but a glancing blow would not do much.

The drake continued to charge forward. When within reach it tried to eat Ryuu.

Even without flash step Ryuu could dodge something like this. He moved to the side and used a Ki strike on the drake’s hide.

Ryuu felt the damage go through, though not as much as he hoped. From how he understood it, Ki damage was based on his Vitality and his opponent’s vitality. The higher his compared to his opponent’s the more damage. If his opponent had more, there would be less damage, and if the opponent had a lot more, there would be little to no damage. The Undead were considered to have infinite Vitality, so ki attacks were useless against. them. This drake’s vitality was not infinite, but it was still higher than Ryuu’s.

The drake swept its tail quickly around. Ryuu had seen this before, if it struck he would be sent flying into the air. Three times he saw the drake sent someone vertically into the air and catch them. In its mouth.

Ryuu ducked low, a simple movement he had ages of practice with. Jumping to avoid the tail would lead to getting eating before landing, so ducking was best. The clearance between the tail and the ground was less than a meter, but it was still a easy maneuver.

The drake turned back to swipe Ryuu with its claws but he wasn’t there. As the tail passed over him he got up and sprinted after it. He was behind the creature in its blind spot. From there he used a ki enhanced Quivering Palm Strike. The thick scales provided no defense against the penetrating shockwave. One of the nastier quirks of that skill was that the stronger the defense, the more damage was inflicted. When the shockwave reached a surface, the harder the surface, the less the shockwave dissipated after bouncing off. So the higher the defense, the more the inner shockwave would bounce around.

The drake flinched and made a pained face. Attacks that turned the opponent’s defense against them was the bane of armored creatures.

By this time Rocky had approached the Drake unnoticed. He slashed the drake hard enough that a few scales came off. Then he slashed again.

The drake spun around again but was stopped mid motion. Its tail was pushing against Rocky’s shield, but it was unable to push it further.

If this was real life, Rocky would have been sent away like a home run ball. But his had a skill that prevented being pushed back when he blocked with his shield.

From the other side Ryuu dealt another ki powered Palm strike.

The drake flinched again, and Rocky used the opening to strike again, he hit the same point from earlier, slowly shaving off the scales to deal more damage with each successive blow.

The drake inhaled for its breath attack, but an arrow entered its mouth and planted itself in its upper lining of the roof of the mouth.

The dragon roared again and looked around, but it didn’t see anyone. The sniper had been shooting from a very long distance with a bending shot. He ducked down long before the arrow hit its mark and was out of sight. The dragon wasn’t even looking in the right direction thanks to the curvature of the shot.

The drake swiped its massive claw at Rocky but the shield withstood it. It tried to bit him but whenever it opened its mouth an arrow someone found its way into it.

Ryuu was impressed by the pair. Rocky was a much higher level than Ryuu first thought. That and his shield and armor must have been top quality. The sniper’s ability to anticipate the drake’s movements and shoot where he would be was remarkable as well. Overall it made Ryuu understand how deep this game really was. It also furthered his resolve to continue training.

Sometimes after using Quivering Palm strike Ryuu would use Heal Wound on Rocky while the Drake flinched. It was no where near the level of a priest’s healing skill, but it would at least extend the battle.

After the greater part of an hour, the drake fell and dropped some items.

You have gained a level!

You have gained a level!

You have gained a level!

You have gained a level!

You have gained a level!

Ryuu gained five levels. He was the primary damage dealer and gained most of the experience. Though from Rocky’s face he could tell the knight gained at least one or two levels himself.

The sniper came from the back. He gained a hunter skill from a quest some time before that allowed him to fully skin game. He had already prepared a mithril knife before coming and used it to skin the whole drake.

The creature dropped a pile of skin and two light blue gems that glowed faintly, but thanks to the sniper, every piece of skin, meat and bone was recovered.

Ryuu actually ended up carrying most of it. Although his strength stats was no higher than Rocky’s, Rocky carried his own armor, thus the amount he could carry was less. Ryuu on the other hand had was seen as having almost weightless equipment and he could not deny that his own inventory weighed less than the other two.

Ryuu did not bother to bring up the rings he was wearing. But as it turned out, he was able to carry most of it and make it back to the city safely.

The gems the dragon dropped turned out to be Mana stones. The stones along with the drake parts were sold to various vendors for high prices. The bones were sold to a weapon and armor manufacturer. The meat was sold to a resturaunt. And the skin was sold to a tailor.

Said tailor offered to make everyone drake skin armor, and Rocky and the sniper accepted. But Ryuu’s class could not wear even leather armor, so he turned it down.

The funds were split evenly between the three and they went on their way. Rocky and the Sniper were already listed on each other’s friend lists and invited Ryuu, but he declined saying maybe next time.

For now he returned to the Undead dungeon. He felt he had a lot of work ahead of him.

Hello people who read my stories. Sorry for not posting in a while, but I had a reason. Truth is, I had a sudden idea for an interesting story line some time mid-november. And during the time I have been absent from my other stories, I have been writing chapters for that story.

The thing is, I also wanted to test something. How popular would a story I wrote be if no one knew I wrote it? So I did a few things. I made a new account and posted the story under a different name. Next, to make absolutely sure no one could guess I wrote it, I did everything for the story opposite I usually do. I gave it a prologue, something I never do. I wrote the entire story first person, the mc isn’t human, and while in game, I made the MC female, since that also something I never do.

The story currently has 18 chapters and about 2k average views. It is called Maker of Heroes by Curiousbeing.

For those who know and have talked to Curi, that was me all along.

For those who have not heard of Maker of Heroes, here is a link. At the very least I’m glad I got good reviews from a story that did not include the words, “As expected from Gnomebob.”

Ahh, yes, the story Maker of Heroes is also complete. I will be posting no more chapters for it. However, at the end of the last chapter, I mention the details for my next ff Project. If you’re interested, feel free to look it up.
