Princess Bria is bored. Nothing ever changes at court and she's sitting through yet another dull ceremony. Her cousin Vann is the crown prince and he has had more practice at masking it, but he’s bored too. The arrogant and creepy Lore Master of the seemingly immortal Dragon's Guard is going to ask to be allowed to recruit more people, and the King is going to refuse as he always does. But the king says yes, and Bria, Vann and their friends join the Dragon's Guard as recruits, and Bria is sent into the Lady's Hall that hasn't been opened for hundreds of years.
