So we both fell asleep after that.
Once I wake up, I see that Anikia is still asleep. I quietly try to get out of bed but she gets disturbed. She’s still asleep but I wonder how uneasy and afraid she had been to be this much distressed and uneasy even in her sleep. Although I have some idea that this might be after a long time that she has gotten to sleep this peacefully.
I lay back on the bed and put a hand on her head. I smile. I wonder why? Is my reincarnation changing my personality? Who knows. But I don’t hate it.
Thinking back on that weird flashback I got earlier. What was that? I don’t remember something like that. Remember? Wait. Could it be that it was one of my lost memories? How was it triggered then?
I was hugging both Felia and Carmine when that happened. Could it be that the life-threatening illness had jogged my mind? Or perhaps the interaction with Felia and Carmine?
Whatever it is, I just hope that it’s not something bad. I just hope that it doesn’t change the way I am right now.
While I am thinking, I notice someone’s gaze on me. I look down and it was Anikia, Now wide awake. She’s looking at me with a pure emotion of happiness. Her eyes don’t lack the sparkle like before. Her body isn’t shivering and she is hugging me with quite a force so that means that her strength is restored too.
“How do you feel?” I ask.
She looks way better than last time. The Physical sickness seems to be gone too.
“Happy.” She says.
Happy? About what?
“Might I ask why?” I say as I smile.
“Because you are here.” She says.
These words bloom flowers in my heart and a warmth that cannot be put into words, spreads with it.
She is not the girl that shivered with distress and spoke with her squeaky broken voice while she cried. And why is that? This is because of me she says.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
“Really?” I ask her.
“Really. Thank you, Mother.” She says.
Once again. The insurmountable difference between the state of her mind is astonishing. She must have gone through so much that she needed a pillar to have support. Then she found me.
I need to tell her some things too.
“Anikia. Can you call back your soldiers?” I say.
She looks at me for a second and then smiles.
“I think you might have a plan…” she says as she blissfully smiles.
“Yup. I need you to call them back or it would put a lot of conflicts everywhere. I’ll do something about this barrier.” I say.
“But Mother, Fixing the barrier won’t be enough… do you know that this world Is ending?” she asks.
“I do. And I’ll do something about it. Obviously, I don’t think that I can repair a world. But what I can do is take you guys to my world.” I say.
She pauses and blinks several times in surprise.
“What is it?” I ask gently.
“I thought the matters in the Human Realm were out of hand because of that demon now… But are you sure?” she says in a concerned voice.
“I don’t think you know this… but can you guess who beat up that demon?” I say.
She looks at me with a confused expression. I think she didn’t get what I said.
“Do you remember what I said back there? I am The Celestial Elder Dragon, Velkra.” I say.
“The one who beat up was…*Gasp*! Could it be!” she says and stops.
In the response to her realization, I smile gently.
“W-Was it you, Mother?” she asks.
“Does my smile not tell you that?” I say.
“But… He was very cruelly punished…” she says.
I know that she doesn’t want to see people getting hurt. But that was necessary violence. I had to teach him a valuable lesson and to the demon lord too. At that time I had implied that the demon lord would be someone completely different. You know? More Demon Lord-like.
“Anikia. Do you know how many people he killed?” I say.
“He killed people…?” she says.
I think she knows this but she didn’t accept it.
“Yes. He killed more than Two dozen people. Some were bystanders and Most of them were Adventurers and Knights. One of the knights who died in the battle was another captain’s brother. The Captain saw his brother’s burned body. Do you still think that he didn’t deserve that?” I say.
“How… Cruel…” she says as she tears up.
“So? what do you think? Did I do a bad thing?” I say.
“I… don’t know. I have never reached a situation where I would need to kill someone or injure them badly… so I cannot say… anything. I can only say that… he was wrong…” she says.
“You not knowing things like these means that you are still a little girl and cute,” I say.
“Really?” she asks.
“Definitely,” I reply.
“Mother, Can we get up now? I have to send someone to all back the Soldiers…” she says.
So she will call them back? I guess…
“But before that, We have something even more important to do,” I say.
She looks at me confused and puts a hand to her lip as she sits up.
“But… Isn't the most important thing to call back the soldiers?” she says.
“Nope.”
“Then what can it be…?” she asks.
“Food.”
Yup. Breakfast!
