The Revelation

  She was rather giddy as Michael took his seat. She was also nervous. She had went over a thousand different scenarios about how to approach him and what would happen after. After. While she doubted he would react badly, but there was always a chance. Especially when he realized that he had been set up. She knew from past experience, he was not stupid. He missed things going on around him all the time, but he had a focus… He would understand exactly what had happened, which was the reason for the bard’s song.

  The greetings, the brandy and the idle talk kept him and the other two dragons sidetracked long enough for Denora to get set up. Denora was nervous as well, she knew quite well who and what she was dealing with. Still, as Haladoria watched, she set up her instrument and tuned it, showing no sign of nerves.

  Haladoria sighed as the song flowed out of the lute. Denora had done magic. The ballad brought to life what happened to the elves and brought a tear to her eye at the memory it gave. She watched Micheal as his face changed from relaxed to entranced to an emotion she couldn’t place at first. It took her a bit, but she finally figured out the he was finally seeing it from the elves perspective… from the peoples perspective. It forced her to look at it from his view.

He had no clue going in what had happened to them, other that what little they had told him. He was learning of their flight from their own city and the hardships they had went through. He was stuck by the events.

  She looked on at him and realized that he really had just acted as he saw best. He had not known of any of the events. He just wanted peace and for the people to be happy. Just what could bring such a powerful being a revelation that he should change to such a degree? What event could trigger such a turn around in character? She had no clue.

  When the song shifted at the end, the look on Michael’s face went blank. He looked at Darhla and Shryke, then looked out at the gathered people. He knew. As he turned his eyes on her, she felt a depth… a vastness. She couldn’t look away from his gaze. It pierce her to her soul. He tilted his head to the side slightly and her heart sang. She couldn’t help but smile and said;

“Greetings Lord Dragon.”

His eyes closed and he shook his head.
