Chapter Five

Chapter Five

The promise of texts and maps, of which Victor would never have lain his eyes on otherwise, enticed him. The more knowledge he accrued, the more he could find out about his soul, or lack thereof, as well as possible dragons that have been enslaved. This was something he believed - no, knew needed to be done. No matter how small or big the library, he would spend time getting the information he thought prudent to his goals.

With that, Victor had... reluctantly, picked up Jurrian, and carried him while they walked from the forest, Victor being almost naked. The only thing keeping him decent was the cloak that Eleonor had looted from her own knight's unconscious body. And thank god it was a big cloak. It wrapped around his body all the way down to his upper calves, due to being much taller than Jurrian. However, it was wide enough, where it wrapped around the front of his torso, and had buttons to hide his front. Eleonor could hardly go five seconds before seeing Victor's victor until she had him button it up on the front.

When they emerged from the forest, there was simply the clearing, and a good fifty meters away was the western gate to the city. Wandering closer, the guards, caught off-beat by the sight of two men, one practically naked, carrying another man, and being followed by a woman- who they definitely recognized as "Lady Eleonor". Saluting, one of the two was barely containing laughter as he tried not to imagine what went down, and how pissed her father would be.

"H-H...Halt..." One of the guards snickered, raising a hand. "Lady... Eleonor... you keep strange compa-"

"Do not say a word of this to anyone. If I hear even a whisper, you will be punished."

"Of... of course..." They stiffened slightly and saluted her. "Please, enter then."

And they would do just as such. The gate was pulled open from the inside, and they walked in, the attention brought to them simply by entering. She had instantly pulled Victor down an alley, noticed by literally everyone who had seen them enter. "We'll make our way towards the castle from here. I know where we can get there quickly, but you should... nevermind. Just follow me. When we get home, I'll make a decent man out of you yet." She pouted, pulling him by the wrist even as he exhaled.

It took them a good seven minutes of walking through alleys and avoiding excrement in said alleys until they finally reached her home. The guards at the gate were just as giddy as the first ones. However, they let them pass without pausing this time. She was the lady of the house, and she'd brought a guest. There was a subtle sound Victor had heard and looked up towards the mansion only to see an older gentleman, roughly between the ages of forty to forty-five, with his fist against the window as he looked down. And nary a moment later he turned around to, presumably, go to meet his daughter.

"Your father did not look pleased."

"You saw him? Where?" She asked, following Victor's eyes to find her fathers study. Narrowing her eyes to try and see him, she failed and sighed. "So I assume he turned around and is probably coming down to..."

"I would assume so."

Eleonor sighed into her hands in defeat. "This is going to be so difficult!" Her complaints fell on deaf ears as Victor continued to walk until he met the doors.

"Give me a moment to take my breath, yes?" She said, but Victor didn't care. He pushed the door open and walked in, causing her to gasp and run in front of him. "Ahahahaaa! Samuel! For Faris' sake, please notify my father that I'm... present, and that should he require me, I will be fixing myself up." She yelled the first part, and quiet herself when she saw Samuel round a corner on the left side and walk down the stairs.

Victor didn't look around until just now. The mansion was decorated with blue and yellow tapestries, with two staircases starting wide at the bottom and ending just narrow enough to fit two people side-by-side at the top. There was what seemed to be an entrance to another room on the ground floor, just to the right and left of the entrance, but those didn't seem important.

"Also can you..." She paused awkwardly, blushing.

"Bring some mens clothes to your bathroom? Yes, Lady Eleonor, with the greatest of haste. And your father has called for you. He will be awaiting in the dining room." He stopped and bowed to Victor as well. "Sir Victor, welcome back."

Eleonor looked at Samuel and back to Victor with immense confusion. She'd never seen Victor in her house before, so, did he and Samuel know each other before? Or was it just when she wasn't home that he'd been around? Eleonor would have to ask Samuel or Victor, or both if they knew each other for a while.

Seemingly having sensed her confusion, Samuel turned back to her and spoke softly in his old baritone voice. "We only met two weeks ago, lady Eleonor. Do forgive me, but I shall go notify your father, and have a maid bring mens clothing for you." And then he was gone. Around another corner and out of sight, leaving Victor... feeling odd. His footsteps had suddenly disappeared, his smell too. Narrowing his eyes, he began to follow Eleonor once more. He felt like a puppy being hidden from Eleonors family. As the pair of them walked through the mansion in the opposite way Samuel had gone, they eventually arrived at a room which Eleonor opened without hesitation, nigh sprinted in, and pulled Victor in as well.

"Ohh Faris' tits and nads..." She groaned, pushing him behind a divider. "I'll get you some clothes soon, so just wait there for a moment. They requested, turning away and faceplanting into her bed with a sigh. Rolling onto her back, she looked at the ceiling for only a moment before a knock came on her door.

"Miss D'siri? I've brought your mens clothing..." Came a small, cute voice from behind the large oak door.

"That was fast." Eleonor said, walking closer to the door until she opened it, revealing a girl who looked like she would be left home by a soldier who didn't know how lucky he was to have his wife. "Just put it over by the screen." She told her with a nod, the maid following the order before being stopped from talking by Eleonor's own voice. "You're dismissed." That was all she would relay to her.

Sighing with a seemingly final breath, she looked over to the screen. "The clothes are there. Just... put them on. I can only hope they fit."
