BRITISH HIGH CONSULATE
IKOYI, LAGOS
JUNE 12 1903
THE BRITISH COLONY OF NIGERIA
10 HOURS AFTER LORD MERCIUS RIVERLIGHT’S ESCAPE FROM KIRIKIRI MAXIMUM PRISON
The idea of having a consulate was to make sure things like this don’t happen, but yet it has. High Commissioner Frederick Mason was beyond pissed, it was his job and responsibility to administer governance to the colony and make sure that things ran smoothly, this event would be more than sure to make the locals go crazy with rage/
He had torched an entire town in his escape attempt, and it had been in the bloody wrong direction. The town of Gwagwalada was now nothing more than a mess, and the area that was being considered to become the new capital of the colony had not survived the escape either as large swathes of it had been torched. Commissioner Frederick looked up at his fellow commissioners and the arch-bishop that answered directly to the king.
“We say we are bringing improvements to the lives of these people, yes once upon a time we were their masters and they our slaves, but we have established that in the eyes of God this is an affront against the Ten Commandments. Yet you had all insisted in making this fair nation, this blessed land into a dumping ground for the worst criminals of the British Empire! Now we have the bloody Americans breathing down our necks and telling us we have overstepped and we should give them their independence!”
“Commissioner Frederick, you amongst many others have also been a large advocate for the independence of the colony Nigeria. It is a notion that has been shut down, and it will not stand in parliament so avoid bringing it up. The Americans are short sighted and fools, they do not know how the world really works.” A woman dressed in a maroon noble gown spoke to him, but Commissioner Frederick scoffed at her.
“Duchess Elaine, of course you wouldn’t care, you are sequestered away in Port Harcourt, lining your pockets with shipments of Dragon stone, Beast cores and Petrolite Oil. You do not care for the damage to the land your constant drilling, mining and harvesting of these resources are causing to the environment. You have riots on a weekly basis and your response to all of that is to massacre people in droves…. You are unfit to rule.” Commissioner Frederick replied to her, his words as scathing as they were true.

“It begs the question though Commissioner… how was is possible for Lord Mercius to gain access to his dragon. I was under the impression that it was sequestered away in nesting grounds in Cambridge. How did it get all the way to the colony?” The arch-Bishop asked, his portly frame jiggling through the projection, as he and some of the others here were not physically present for this meeting.
“Wouldn’t you like to know, I was under the impression your eminence that his wife and son had been given permission to visit him here, and that they were to be let through any checkpoints without being accosted by any guards. I have a signed document with the seal of the arch-bishop of London, authorizing such measures. I have sent a copy directly to the king in order to seek his wisdom about how to move forwards with this.” The Arch-bishop’s body seemed to jiggle in anger.
“What are you saying commissioner, are you insinuating that I had something to do with this? It is a sin to levy such accusation s against a servant of God, you pompous fool!” Commissioner Frederick raised an eyebrow at that, then gave the arch-bishop a smile.
“There’s no need for name calling your eminence, after the investigation currently being carried out by the Kings guard has been completed, then we will have all our answers, and I will be happy to apologize to you and deliver a hefty donation to your parish as recompense for my sins of going against a servant of God. But don’t hold your breath old man, besides I’m not done with my report.” The arch bishop was half way to exploding, but he had been effectively shut up.
“Lord Mercius had his dragon teleported in by use of a spatial array that had been ingeniously tattooed into the body of the servant that had attended both the lady ad young lord Mercius. According to eye witness reports, the dragon had literally bust out of the body of the poor sod, ripping him apart as Lord Mercius regained access to his magic and proceeded to tear half of the prison apart, then absconding from there with his wife and child.
A lot of prisoners were killed, and quite a lot more were set free including the worst criminal in the history of England…. Lord Mordred Pendragon.” There were collective gasps around the consulate chambers, and the arch-bishop suddenly dropped a few shades in pallor as he became extremely pale.
“This is a global catastrophe and the other governments of the world would definitely be placing embargos on the empire. It would affect out trade agreements and other deals. We have no other choice but to salvage this damage by pulling out and letting Nigeria become a republic. This blunder would and could spark a war if it is not handled correctly, after all the only immortal in existence, a man known for sowing havoc and causing great destruction across multiple ear has been let loose by schemes and machinations of our own government. We need to extricate ourselves from this incident as soon as possible or we will lose more than we can possibly gain.”
“But if we do so, we will leave the colony... Nigeria undefended. They would be left to the mercy of vultures who will swoop down to pick them clean. And it’s even much worse when you consider the fact that Mordred is out there somewhere doing God knows what, Commissioner!” Duchess Elaine cried out as she got up from her seat. Frederick on the other hand knew she was just worried for the assets and wealth she was about to lose.
“There is nothing that can be done about it Duchess, for the good of the crown…. We need to pull out. And with the prisoners that have been released out into the world now a factor, especially in the case of Mordred pendragon…. We need to fortify the crown and its demesne…. Not just this colony, we have to abandon the others…. Or else Mordred will pick us apart one by one until we are weaker on a global scale… by that point ending us would not be too hard for him. We should all prepare….. The world is about to change.”
