Dragon ball Universe

Discover key information before diving into this captivating fan fiction.

In the Dragon Ball universe, Ki is the fundamental energy that enables individuals to transcend ordinary limits, granting them the ability to fly, unleash energy attacks, and perform other extraordinary feats. Often referred to as lifeforce, Ki is inherent not only in sentient beings but also in animals, plants, trees, and even celestial bodies. Its remarkable versatility makes Ki a truly powerful and essential force in this universe.

There are several types of ki:

- Regular Ki, also known as good ki, is mostly utilized by individuals with pure intentions. It appears as a white aura surrounding the user.

- Evil ki, on the other hand, is a specific manifestation of ki found in beings with malevolent hearts. Typically, villains possess this type of ki. It manifests as a purple or pink aura around the user.

Although there are other types of ki, I won't delve into them as the story hasn't progressed that far yet.

Please note that ki is deemed invisible to non-ki users by Toriyama himself. However, it can become visible when the ki is highly concentrated and powerful. As the concentration of ki inside the body reaches its peak, a radiant aura of ki emanates from the user.

The amount of ki one possesses varies among individuals. The higher the amount of ki, the greater the power level and strength. Those who are untrained cannot harness or increase their ki. The elevation of ki can be achieved through intense physical training or meditation.

Power Level, also known as battle power or combat strength, is a numerical estimation of an individual's physical abilities and ki. To determine the outcome of a fight, a power level is typically used. However, it's important to note that a higher power level does not guarantee victory.

In the Dragon Ball universe, the power levels of regular individuals tend to remain relatively constant throughout their lives. Zarbon, for example, has maintained the same power level for over 30 years since the destruction of Planet Vegeta by Frieza. Interestingly, most members of Frieza's force also show little change in their power levels.

While power levels can be increased through intense training or special means, the process is usually slow. Additionally, individuals have the ability to hide their presence or reduce their power level by suppressing their ki, which helps conserve energy. It's worth mentioning that power levels can decrease due to injuries or exhaustion.

During a fight, one common method of temporarily increasing power level is for races or characters that can transform into different forms. This transformation allows them to alter their external appearance and enhance their power-level.

Overall, power levels play a significant role in the earlier saga of the Dragon Ball universe, but it's important to understand their limitations and the various factors that can influence them.

Ki Blasts: The most fundamental form of ranged attack accessible to warriors who tap into their ki during battles. Ki blasts can take the shape of spherical bullets, focused lasers, or even colossal beams, inflicting various types of damage, from concussive and explosive to slicing, burning, or vaporizing. Depending on the user's ability and power, these energy discharges can be immensely destructive, even leading to the annihilation of entire planets.

Ki Waves: Also known as energy waves, these techniques involve harnessing and projecting ki-based waves from different body parts such as palms, nose, fingertips, eyes, body, or mouth.

Concentrated Ki Blasts / Waves: By concentrating their ki into small areas or specific points, Ki users can unleash devastating attacks that surpass their own battle strength. A noteworthy example is Goku and Piccolo's display of this skill during their confrontation with Raditz. They focus their ki into tight areas to amplify the power of their attacks without intensifying the overall ki within their bodies.

Ki Control: While most individuals lack the ability to freely control their ki, those who possess this skill can manipulate the flow of ki within their bodies. This grants them the capability to channel varying amounts of ki reserves, adjusting their strength accordingly and generating attacks with significantly higher ki concentrations than their norm. This talent caught Raditz's attention while he battled Goku and Piccolo. Despite having power levels of 416 and 408 respectively, their special techniques harnessed such extraordinary levels of ki that they measured at 924 and 1,480. Although commonly observed among Earth's martial artists, this skill appears to be rare in general, as members of the Frieza Force, continuously express astonishment at their ability to effortlessly manipulate their power levels.

Kiai: A technique where users employ their ki to affect the surrounding air currents and generate potent shockwaves, effectively striking their opponents.

Ki Sense: As ki users refine their ki control, they eventually acquire the ability to sense it. This profound sense enables them to detect the location, quantity, and nature of ki. The intensity of the sensation increases as the enemy's power grows stronger and closer. Extraordinarily powerful ki can even be sensed from afar by individuals trained in energy detection. Through rigorous training, ki users can conceal their own ki, rendering it undetectable to others.

Ki Guard / Defense: Once ki users master the basics of utilizing ki, they can utilize it for more than offensive purposes. While the physical durability of flesh and bones has its limits, the extent of a fighter's ki is boundless. By raising their ki, fighters can enhance their endurance, guarding against and deflecting ki-based attacks. However, such defensive maneuvers do deplete energy. Lowering one's guard can result in significantly higher damage received, even from seemingly insignificant attacks like scrapes, cuts, or bullets. Formidable fighters can still sustain genuine damage when they deliberately lower their guard, as exemplified by Vegeta accepting an attack to the stomach from Krillin during the Namek saga to obtain a Zenkai boost.

Do keep in mind that ki possesses remarkable versatility, enabling energy attacks that can inflict a wide range of damage, including blunt force, slashing, burning, and many other forms.

Major Races:

Earthlings are the inhabitants of an extraordinary planet, encompassing all the intelligent races that call Earth their home. This inclusive term refers to humans, anthropomorphs, and even monsters. In the vast Dragon Ball universe, Earthlings are often considered among the less powerful races, with the average human exhibiting power levels merely in the single or double digits. Yet, their presence remains an indelible part of the fascinating tapestry of this world.

The Saiyans, a race of extraterrestrials in the Dragon Ball universe, are known for their inherent aggression and relentless pursuit of strength. Their homeworld, planet Vegeta, was tragically annihilated alongside most Saiyans, courtesy of Frieza, who feared the emergence of a super Saiyan.

Namekians, also referred to as Nameks, are a unique race hailing from the planet of Namek. Originally inhabitants of another realm, Namekians possess the extraordinary ability to create their own set of Dragon Balls. With a humanoid appearance adorned with distinct plant and slug-like attributes like green skin and antennae, they truly stand apart.
