Chapter 9 - Teachings of the divine beast (Part 2)

Today Uncle Ro had waken Lee up extra early to start his training. Ro was so excited that he had not slept in three days. He was rushing to and fro, gathering material and setting up proper structures and obstacle just for Lee.

Lee of course is very tired after being woken up so early. He had only slept for four hours. His eyes were red, face pale, and his body sway back and forth. Trying to stay awake, Lee went and took a quick cold bath. However that cold bath just made him sleepier. Forcing himself to stay awake, Lee walked to where Ro had instructed him to meet at.

Uncle Ro was beaming with intensity he look at Lee. They were inside the library. In the middle of the room was a fairly wide table with books stack on top. Uncle Ro signal Lee to come and sit at the table. Lee quickly sat down and stared at Ro, acting all high and mighty.

“Lee why do you think so many cultivator die every day? Why do most of them unable to breakthrough their bottlenecks right when they reach it, and that it takes them months or even years to either break through or be stuck at it forever? Why are some are better than others?” Uncle Ro bombarded Lee with these three question. Lee furrowed his eyebrow and began to think.

“Err…Is it because they are weak that they die or too weak to gather the qi from Heaven and Earth and condense it into their bodies?” Lee nodded at his answer he felt what he said was right.

“OW!” Uncle Ro smacked Lee on the head with a twig that, for somehow he got it out of nowhere, and Lee could see Ro getting mad at him.

“Dumbass! It’s because people think like you is why so many cultivator can never advance or they die a pathetic death. The answer is knowledge. Knowledge will always conquer those with power. Even the strong will submit to the one with brains. Even if you are weaker than them in cultivation with brains you can truly escape life or death or even kill them.” Uncle Ro began to slowly explain to the puzzle Lee who is currently rubbing his head from the pain.

Uncle Ro quickly crawl to the stack of books he had put on the table. Fast as lightning, several books appeared in front of Lee. Each book was as thick as a brick.

Lee notice that each book is either battle technique, formation, skills, and so on. It overwhelm Lee causing to feel a bit nauseous.

“Uncle Ro do I have to read all of these?” Lee tilt his head to the side.

“Of course you must read every single one of these book. However you don’t need to memorize them, I will transfer all my memories and knowledge onto you. All you need to do is read it once and any area that you have trouble understand come to me for more details. This stage will prepare for future uses. After this we will work on your footwork.” Lee nodded it would take him at least 10 years to memorize everything and even then he probably would forget half of it. It was a good thing the Uncle Ro memorize it to the point that he didn’t need to read the title of the book that he could determine its contents.

“One more thing Lee, I notice that you been hiding a book under your bed.” Uncle Ro gave a cynical smile to Lee. Lee began to sweat nervously. His body squirm in the chair.

Lee had hid this from his mother and uncles. He didn’t want them to know, mainly his mother, about what he was trying to hide. If his mother found out she would probably faint. Lee had hid it over a year, but somehow Uncle Ro discover his secret.

“I..I am…I am not hiding anything under my bed.” Lee voice crackle as he try to answer calmly, however he can’t stop being nervous.

“Hehe, nothing escape my grasp.” Uncle Ro pulled the book out and place it in front of Lee. THUD. Lee eyes filled with shock, Lee couldn’t believe Uncle Ro was able to locate the book, without him noticing. Lee had made sure no one knew his secret location. In front of him was the secret book that he had hidden, terror filled his face. He could not turn back the time.

“So Lee I see you like the human bodies. I did not know you would pick this book. This book is one of my favorite.” The book that Uncle Ro was talking about was no other than the Acupuncture and the Human book. Lee had read more than a fourth of the book ever since he had gotten it from the library. No one knew about it. If he reveal that he could actually read such a complex book at age two, they would probably kill him, rather than acknowledge that he was actually smart.

“Well we will study this in depth later, since you are interested in this and I had profound knowledge in this area. But first…HAH.” Uncle Ro suddenly jump towards Lee’s forehead. With a tap of his tiny leg onto Lee, he had sent a massive flow of information to Lee’s brain.

The information move so fast, it was like a blur in Lee’s mind. With so much information passing through, in matter of minutes Lee had obtain the vast knowledge of more than two thousand books, after Ro remove his leg from Lee, Lee had fainted and fell to the ground.

The next day Lee sat in the library, it took him no more than ten minute to read each book. Lee could feel the ability Chronostasis was not what it really seems like. It allow Lee to read at extreme pace and with Uncle Ro implanting his knowledge and memories onto Lee. He could understand everything with clarity. Currently Lee, had thousand books or so to go. He wanted to read faster, but his head is still throbbing from yesterday pain, preventing from increasing his reading speed.

Every book Lee would read would contain many profound knowledge that his past life wasn’t able to learn. He learn that humans can fly once they obtain certain cultivation level. Or human did not originally come from this land, but beyond due to some event that sent them fleeing to this place. However although he was fascinated with the books that he is reading, what pique his interest was the book he had found when he was 2.

Over a couple days Lee would read hundred or so books and at night he would practice his regular routine. Being able to walk and run, Lee began his training on footwork, hoping to impress Ro, however it was harder than it seems. No matter how hard he circulate or control his qi, the footwork drain a lot out of him. He felt he was doing something wrong, but cannot find the area that he is having trouble.

Two weeks have pass and Lee had completed almost all the books in the library, but one book. This book caught Lee’s interest. It was [Energy Condensing Weapon], this book explain how to use one qi to create a weapon based on their cultivation and qi force. It can be created instantly and depending on how many stages you master the weapon can be hard as a dragon armor. Lee took his time reading this. He had already learn Qi Condensing and Manipulation Qi from Uncle Feng, which was stage one base on the book. There were total of five stages. The last stage of course being able to create the weapon, and the higher your cultivation level the strong your weapon becomes and the less amount of qi you have to exert. The next stage was condensing the qi into a material. Easy as it seems it was very hard, for experts it would take no more than five years and for those with average talents fifteen years at most. Lee already can condense his qi, but he needed a material to help him form it. This was Lee most difficult challenge. Not only did the book state that he had to condense the qi into a material, he should choose carefully what weapon he wanted to condense. Since it will evolve with him, he can pick two but it will split the power and the evolve rate will be slower. The evolution had no end, it will grow until its user dies.

At night, Lee was reading about acupuncture. There were many parts that he didn’t understand. Within Lee’s memory, he could not find any knowledge about the book, as if Uncle Ro had plan this from the very beginning. Lee flip through pages, until he landed his eye on a particular page.

『Qi Needle: By exerting the flow of qi from one body onto the needle, one can transfer his qi to the patients’ blood stream and nerve system. This is very dangerous method, but also crucial to saving a patient life. By controlling the qi that one’s had injected to the patient’s body. He then can eliminated foreign energy and dispel sickness. The QI Needle must be at the same level or stronger than the patient cultivation level, otherwise the patient Qi can destroy the needle. For those who are starting, using a silver thin needle is recommended. For expert doctors, they must be able to condense a needle from their own Qi. The Qi cannot be too violent which can kill the patient or too calm which will do nothing to help rid of the patient illness.』

Lee was surprise, he did not know that acupuncture can be used in such a way, and what surprise him the most was Qi Needle. The last book he read was condensing a weapon. A needle can be consider a weapon? Lee wonder how a toothpick can penetrate a human tough skin or armor in battle.  He knew if his cultivation is high he can somehow pierce a human skin, but only if they would let them. In battle his opponent will boost their defense or make their body tougher than steel, would they even give Lee a chance to shove a toothpick weapon into their body. At most he could defeat them if they laugh themselves to death.

For now Lee put this in the back of his mind, and began heading to Uncle Ro resident to begin his next step of his training. As Lee step into Uncle Ro room, a strong smell hit his face. The odor had a strong medicine smell, it was so strong that Lee almost felt nauseated. Covering his nose he kept walking, until he final saw a tiny figure on the table. It was Uncle Ro. He signaled Lee to come over. As Lee walked towards Ro, he look around the room. There were many herbs, pots, pills, scrolls, and items that Lee could not determine. It was so clutter, that one would think this was a place where you dump all your useless junk.

Behind where Uncle Ro was standing was four covered object, which seems to resemble a human size figure. It was covered in black from head to toe, that Lee could not see. However Lee stood to the notion that it might a puppet or a wood carving of a human made for martial arts training, instead of a log with sticks poking out.

Uncle Ro let out a sinister smile as Lee sat in front of him. Lee wasn’t pay attention to Ro smile. His eyes kept on focusing the unknown object behind Ro.

“Well let’s begin our favorite topic, the human bodies, hehe not only human bodies are complex, as they continue to cultivate and depend on what technique they cultivate their external and internal bodies changes over time. However no matter how much their bodies change there are somethings that cannot be change.” Ro began to lecture Lee while walking towards the object.

Shaw. The black fabric reveal two human size skeleton in pristine condition, the third object has yet to be reveal. Lee was a bit surprise, but not so much since his guess was close.

Ro had told Lee that this was an actual human skeletons that he acquired long ago. One was male and the other was a female. He explain the difference and similarity between the two.

What distracted Lee during this time was the third object. When Uncle Ro finally revealed it. Lee of course vomit.

Never in his life had he seen something grotesque.
