Above the horizon, I could see the faint silhouette of my first destination. The Forbidden Forest.
The actual journey here had taken me about a week. The walk here also was surprisingly peaceful. I was expecting to have to avoid giant monsters and dangerous terrain but besides finding a few human settlements nothing much really happened.
When I first saw a settlement I was hoping to get some free exp killing the wild stock. but unlike the original village, this one was a full-on town. The perimeter of the city was surrounded by stone walls with 8-10 guards perched on top. I also saw small groups of people wielding different types of gear patrolling the area. They reminded me of the first group I met when I came to this world.
Who still give me bad memories.
So I just swiftly crawled by, out of sight of course.
There were also a few groups heading out the way I came.
Did they know that the village was attacked? I don't think news could spread so fast unless this world had a system equivalent to a magic SOS call. Even if they did I doubt a small village would be able to obtain such technology, considering there small size and proximity to a monster-infested forest. I'm no king myself but personally, I don't think putting something important near the edge of my kingdom would be a smart thing to do. Just the time it took to reach was about 2 hours, although telling time without a watch is noticeably more difficult and less reliable.
The actual town itself was surprisingly well fortified, and even some sort of ballista was being constructed on the walls. My guess is as good as yours why they'd need such a large ballista on their walls.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Besides the town, the other settlements were just small villages no-bigger then the first one. I managed to kill a few of there wild stock while passing by, which garnered me some Exp.
As for Decorite, he didn't take the news of his new gender so well. But after a small "conversation" he ended up agreeing, as he couldn't talk he never really had a say anyways. Decorite's ability to boost my cultivation speed was also incredibly useful as I managed to break through to the fourth level. Giving me the ability to give me claws a small glow to them. I managed to test them on some of the wild stock, and they get my approval. It was an interesting feeling, as my claws didn't really touch anything. I only had to swipe and the white light would essentially evaporate whatever it touched. It still makes me feel giddy knowing that I can finally use cool abilities.

Currently, my status doesn't seem to bad. I'm feeling pretty confident going into the forest. Worst comes to worst I should be able to run from whatever lives inside of there. I only need to find a small orb in the middle of the forest. That shouldn't be too hard. Probably.
Entering the forest itself felt like I just entered the void. The trees somehow manage to stop any light from shining down. It creates a funny scene where you can clearly see a line of where the light suddenly stops, and the forest begins. It reminded me of one of those before and after pictures you'd sometime see. Of course with my cultivation, I'm still able to see what's ahead of me, but without any light, it creates a foreboding atmosphere. It feels like I could be jump scared at any moment, and with the thick foliage, I really hope nothing dangerous actually lives in this godforsaken place.
Immediately after stepping forwards I could tell that the ground is very soft. Not like I'll melt into the ground soft, but more like a very wet and almost..whats a word? Mushy? Yea, mushy floor. Even if I don't meet any dangerous animal in here it's still not going to be a pleasant trip.
